AC/DC Rocks Back To No. 1 In America

AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' returns to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, marking its ... More sixtieth week at the summit while 'Back in Black' reenters a related tally. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 07: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (L-R) Stevie Young, Brian Johnson, Angus Young, and Cliff Williams of AC/DC perform onstage during the Power Trip music festival at Empire Polo Club on October 07, 2023 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Power Trip) AC/DC may never have a truly bad week on the Billboard charts again. As Americans continue to show, week after week, that they love the hard rock group's biggest hits, the band regularly appears on half a dozen tallies or more across the United States. Thanks to continued consumption of both albums and singles — one blockbuster smash in particular — this frame is especially exciting for the legendary outfit. 'Thunderstruck' remains not just a classic cut, but a bestselling one. The tune rises from the runner-up space to the summit on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. AC/DC knocks Falling in Reverse and Marilyn Manson from the throne, as their collaboration 'God Is a Weapon Too' dips from No. 1 to third place in its third stint on the roster. 'Thunderstruck' is no stranger to leading the charge on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales tally. This week marks its sixtieth frame in the top spot — an incredible accumulation, though still less than 10% of the total 654 weeks it has now spent on this genre-specific list. As it surges back to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales ranking, 'Thunderstruck' also holds at No. 4 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally and is steady at No. 9 on the Rock Digital Song Sales list. AC/DC lands two hits in America this week, as 'Back in Black' returns to one list. The group doubles up on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally, which ranks only the most-played cuts on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others that Billboard categorizes as hard rock. That track now sits at No. 24, in the second to last position. The Australian rock outfit also appears on multiple albums rankings with another strong seller. Back in Black has now spent at least 400 weeks on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums, and Billboard 200 charts, though it declines slightly on each of those rosters this frame.

AC/DC Reaches A Historic Milestone With The Song That Won't Stop Selling

AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' reaches 520 weeks on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart, marking a ... More full decade as a top rock digital seller in the U.S. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 07: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Angus Young of AC/DC performs onstage during the Power Trip music festival at Empire Polo Club on October 07, 2023 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Power Trip) AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck' is a once-in-a-century kind of hit. The track not only defines the band's time together, but it's also recognized as one of the most successful in hard rock history. Few tunes have come close to matching its ubiquity and commercial success. Decades after its release, the cut remains a staple — and at least in the United States, it's a consistent bestseller. This week is especially notable for 'Thunderstruck' on one Billboard ranking, as it reaches a milestone that very few compositions will come close to achieving. On the latest edition of the Rock Digital Song Sales chart — the Billboard tally that ranks the bestselling rock-only tracks in the nation — 'Thunderstruck' climbs from No. 15 to No. 9. As it holds on, and even improves, the tune celebrates 520 frames on the list. This period makes it a complete decade as one of the top-selling cuts in that style in the largest music market in the world. 'Thunderstruck' is AC/DC's first track to spend 520 weeks on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart. It's easily the band's longest-running success. The runner-up, 'Back in Black,' has only managed to remain on the tally for 127 stays. 'Thunderstruck' eclipses that total four times over. Those two titles are the only ones in the group's discography to make it to triple digit stays on this purchases-only roster. 'Thunderstruck' surpasses every other smash AC/DC has sent to the Rock Digital Song Sales chart throughout the years. The group has pushed 19 tunes onto the tally, and the other 18 have combined for 224 weeks on the list. That's less than half as long as 'Thunderstruck' has held on. The generation-defining smash also outpaces every other top 10 hit on the current edition of the Rock Digital Song Sales tally. Combined, those nine tunes have accumulated 146 weeks on the ranking — while 'Thunderstruck' beats that figure three-and-a-half times over, and still manages to rejoin the loftiest tier on the list. 'Thunderstruck' isn't only succeeding on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart this week. It also appears inside the top 10 on both the Hard Rock Streaming Songs and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales tallies as well.

AC/DC's Smashes Are Uniformly Soaring

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" climbs to No. 5 on the U.K.'s Official Rock & Metal Singles chart as four of ... More the band's classics rise simultaneously. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 07: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (L-R) Stevie Young, Brian Johnson, Angus Young, and Cliff Williams of AC/DC perform onstage during the Power Trip music festival at Empire Polo Club on October 07, 2023 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Power Trip) Even without releasing anything new, AC/DC still commands an incredible amount of space on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart in the U.K. The group ranks among the most successful names on the list at the moment, with multiple smashes appearing at the same time. Not only does the Australian rock outfit take up more real estate than almost any other act, but this time around, every one of its tunes manages to climb as sales increase. These decades-old classics are, somehow, still improving after so much time. AC/DC fills four spaces on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, meaning the group controls 10% of the entire 40-position ranking, which looks only at the bestselling tunes in those styles. This time around, all four smashes — which have already spent years on the list — manage to climb at least one spot, with most surging multiple rungs at once. "Thunderstruck" is AC/DC's highest-rising hit on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart this week, which is usually the case. The title climbs to No. 5, growing by one position from its previous placement at No. 6. Fellow time-tested winners "Back in Black," "Highway to Hell," and "You Shook Me All Night Long" also climb ever so slightly, appearing this frame at Nos. 21, 24, and 34, respectively. Among that bunch, the least successful track is "You Shook Me All Night Long," which is still regarded as a generation-defining win. The tune is the only one of the four that has yet to reach No. 1, as it has thus far stalled in the runner-up spot. It has also spent the least amount of time on the tally, with just 457 frames to its credit. That sum would be historic for almost any other act, but when it comes to AC/DC, the other three charting successes on the Official Rock & Metal Singles list have all passed 600 frames. "Thunderstruck" is the only one of AC/DC's songs that manages to appear on more than one tally this week. As it climbs on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, it also advances on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads lists, coming in at Nos. 66 and 62, respectively. In both instances, sales increased so much that "Thunderstruck" was able to push forward by more than 10 spots.

U.S. GIRLS Shares 'Like James Said'

Toronto-based producer, film composer, and author Meg Remy anticipates her intuitive and adventurous U.S. Girls album Scratch It (out June 20 Via 4AD) with a new single entitled 'Like James Said,' an ELO-styled nugget of AM gold and nod to James Brown about the healing power of dancing alone. Remy's own lyrical response to Brown's 'Get Up Offa That Thing', the track showcases her great - and characteristically tragicomic - phrasing, notably on the exaggerated pause in the line, "I'm the queen of exercising [...] pain.' It was written alongside Rich Morel, adding to his and Remy's long string of hits together ('Rosebud,' '4 American Dollars'). 'Like James Said' also arrives alongside a single-shot dance performance, directed by and starring comedian Tom Henry. Earlier this month, Remy introduced Scratch It with the release of an epic 12-minute lead single, 'Bookends' - a sprawling ballad that pays tribute to Remy's late friend and former Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, through the lens of Remy's reading of John Carey's Eye witness To History, a historical collection of 300+ eye witness accounts of great world events spanning twenty-four centuries. The single arrived alongside a cinematic short directed by Caity Arthur. ABOUT U.S. GIRLS Originally from Illinois, Meg Remy is established as one of the most acclaimed songwriters to emerge from Toronto's eclectic underground music scene where she currently lives. As the creative force behind the musical entity U.S. Girls, her celebrated decades-long discography includes three Polaris Prize shortlisted and Juno-nominated albums on 4AD: Half Free (2015), In A Poem Unlimited (2018), Heavy Light (2020), as well as Bless This Mess (2023) and live compilation Lives (2023). Remy has exhibited collage work and directed several music videos and other video art works including her short film Woman's Advocate (2014). She published her first book, a memoir called Begin By Telling (2021), and is working on a follow-up. Recently, Remy has turned film composer, scoring Grace Glowicki's horror comedy Dead Lover, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Her producer credits include Bria Salmena's Big Dog (2025, Sub Pop). As a platform and persona, U.S. Girls operates on a uniquely out-of-time wavelength, alternately wronged and rueful, classic but contemporary, bruised vignettes of poetic Americana through a feminist lens.
