KEA to hold PGCET, DCET on May 31
BENGALURU: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will conduct the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) and Diploma Common Entrance Test (DCET) as well as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) coaching selection exams on May 31 across 113 centres in the state. A total of 52,352 candidates are expected to appear. KEA will use facial recognition technology for verification. PGCET, for admission into courses in Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical streams, will be held at 13 centres, with 3,756 candidates appearing for it. As many as 21,201 candidates registered for DCET to be held at 46 centres. The KAS coaching selection exam, organised by the social welfare department, will be conducted at 14 centres, with 19,992 candidates. An additional 7,403 candidates from Kalyana Karnataka will appear for IAS/KAS coaching selection exams. Medical examinations for differently-abled UGCET candidates will be held from June 3 to 6. Slot booking is mandatory through the KEA medical exam for differently-abled candidates who appeared for PGCET-25 (ME, is scheduled for June 9 at the KEA office. PGCET: Computer-based test for CS course admission this time
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has decided to conduct a Computer-Based Test (CBT) only for admission to M.E. and Computer Science courses for the first time in Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET-2025). The exam will be held on June 2. To help students get familiar with the format, mock tests will be conducted on May 26 and 27, according to a release issued by H. Prasanna, the Executive Director of KEA. Candidates will be provided with a practice link after downloading their admission tickets. They can use the link to practice for the test, he said. For courses other than Computer Science, the written exam for M.E. and admissions will be held on May 31, he added. Since this is the first attempt to conduct the Computer-Based Test, the infrastructure will be assessed, and based on that, CBT may be extended to other courses in the future, he added.

Bengaluru: Due to low demand for seats in the state, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has decided to discontinue Post Graduate Common Entrance Test ( PGCET ) for the course starting this year. Instead, students will need to take national-level entrance exams . In 2023, out of 136 available seats in the state, 127 candidates applied, and only 28 took admission. "KEA will not conduct any separate entrance exam for admissions this year," said H Prasanna, executive director. Now, KEA will assign state ranks to MArch aspirants and allocate seats using scores from national-level tests. Architecture colleges confirm course has seen declining interest.
