‘Lovely for summer' cry shoppers as they run to Asda for £18 dress that has stretch, keeps you cool & flatters figure
A LEADING supermarket has sent shoppers into a frenzy with its flattering £18 dress - and it comes in two colours. So if the sunshine has got you thinking about your summer wardrobe, you've come to the right place. 3 3 George is the in-house fashion label at Asda and is renowned for its stylish buys at bargain prices. And a pretty frock that is "lovely and light" for summer has got fashion fans racing to their nearest store. It comes as temperatures are set to hit highs of 33C across the UK, and 27C in Scotland this weekend. The best part? The Asda item is only £18, meaning you could pick it up in both colours for under £40. The Polka Dot Flutter Sleeve Midi Dress comes in red or white, and is available in sizes eight to 24. It has a textured jersey fabric which means it doesn't crease, and the short flutter sleeves are perfect if you're self-conscious about the top of your arms. Delighted shoppers have already been raving about the spotty dress which they've hailed as a five-star buy. One gushed: "I absolutely love this dress! Lovely fit with a bit of stretch. "Lovely and light for summer. Throw on a cute jacket as autumn approaches. Perfect!" A second said: "I love this dress. Its a perfect fit, keeps me cool in this warmth and so tempted to buy the other colour. Curvy fashion fan praises dress which has makes her 'so confident' - it's perfect for top heavy girls & no is bra needed "I had it in my drawer for a few weeks before wearing it for the first time and it wasnt creased at all. Perfect for packing for holidays." "The colour is beautiful. Material is light weight. Looks good", wrote a third. A fourth added: "Very flattering. Great value. True to size." Meanwhile, a fifth cried: "Love Love Love this dress. Easy to wear fits perfectly and hangs nicely." Elsewhere, shoppers can't get enough of an £18 Sainsbury's summer dress that's flattering, heatwave-friendly and guarantees compliments. Primark has launched Nobody's Child dress dupes just in time for summer that are £77 cheaper and already shopper-approved. And fashion fans are loving the "prettiest" £35 Tesco dress that's perfect for weddings and comes in an on-trend, classy colour. DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in: The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year. So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful? Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
