Coronation Street legend to stage TV return just weeks after exit

Coronation Street's Colson Smith is very busy following his departure from the soap. Colson played Craig Tinker from 2011-2025. The character was killed a few weeks ago while on duty as a police officer. 'Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025,' he wrote on Instagram earlier this year, confirming his departure. 'I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. 'I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I'm excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning. 'I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter two has in store for me.' Chapter two for Colson, so far, involves popular TV gameshows. The star previously revealed on the podcast On The Sofa that he will appear on Celebrity Mastermind soon, but he's also set to add another tense quiz show to his list. Colson confirmed in a chat with his co-stars, friends and fellow podcast presenters Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price that he's due to feature on The Weakest Link, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan. The actor went on to share that he's also been approached to appear on BBC One's Pointless, but he obviously needs to do this with a mate. 'They've also come in and asked about Pointless, but I've got to do it with a buddy', Colson said. 'Oh I'll do that. Yeah, I'm good at pointless!', Jack responded. The actor previously told Metro and other publications that it was his decision to be killed off from Corrie, wanting a more finite exit storyline. More Trending 'For me to go, I would want to leave,' he explained. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? The latest gossip from Emmerdale? 'I would want to die, I would want the door to be shut, so then I can know in my head that Corrie has been this, Corrie has done that, and it is now done, and Craig's journey is over. 'So in a really weird way, it was the right thing for me to be killed. I didn't want that 'we might have you back', knowing that it would be very unlikely, and knowing that it would feel a bit like unfinished business and an unfinished job. ITV The Chase fans upset as show pulled from schedule for rest of the week

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase enthusiasts were left upset after the beloved ITV quiz show was unexpectedly pulled from its regular 5pm spot due to a last-minute schedule reshuffle. On Tuesday (June 17), fans were ready for their daily dose of Bradley Walsh and the trivia action. However, the much-loved programme was axed for the day to make way for the Royal Ascot coverage, which kicked off at 1.30pm and stretched on until 6pm. The shake-up isn't just for one day either; it's set to disrupt the entire week's schedule. Devotees of the show will have to hold out until next Monday (June 23) for the next episode, sparking a wave of disappointment across social media platforms, with X - previously known as Twitter - seeing a surge of disgruntled posts. Some viewers switched allegiance to BBC's Pointless in the absence of The Chase. One viewer expressed their switch with: "#TheChase since there's no Chase tonight, it's over to #pointless." While another made light of the situation, adding: "Not #TheChase I was expecting #RoyalAscot." Another fan commented: "Just sat down to watch #TheChase but instead i get [horse emoji]." And yet another predicted a ratings boost for Pointless, saying: "No 5pm repeat of #TheChase today or all week due to Ascot! So Pointless will probably double its audience to at least 10." (Image: BBC/Remarkable, part of Endemol Shine Group/Mark Yeoman) The Chase is a staple for quiz fans, showcasing a formidable lineup of Britain's top quizzers, such as Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, and Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha. The afternoon quiz show first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV, reports the Express. It features regular contestants vying against each other, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a hefty cash prize. This isn't the inaugural disruption the quiz programme has faced this year. Earlier in the month, the teatime favourite was pulled off air to accommodate coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League match, Spain versus England. The Chase also deviated from its typical schedule last week when two Soccer Aid for UNICEF special episodes were broadcast on Wednesday and Friday. Shaun Williams, David James, Lianne Sanderson, and Dion Dublin comprised the team of four celebrities who squared off against Darragh Ennis. (Image: ITV) Meanwhile, Dermot O'Leary, Lynsey Hipgrave, Kyle Walker, and Alex Brooker challenged Anne Hegerty on Friday night to raise funds for UNICEF. The Chase makes its comeback to our screens on Monday 23 from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.

The Chase fans 'fuming' as ITV show taken off air in major schedule shake-up

The Chase fans were left fuming tonight as they switched over to ITV to watch their favourite quiz show - only to find out it had been pulled off air in a huge schedule shake-up The Chase fans were left fuming after ITV abruptly took their favoured quiz off air in a swift scheduling reshuffle. The usual 5pm slot for the fan favourite quiz show, fronted by Bradley Walsh, was unexpectedly pulled from the schedule on Tuesday (June 17). Today, the programme was pulled from its usual 5pm slot due to coverage of the Royal Ascot on the opening day of the racing festival. Unfortunately for fans, the bad news carries on all week with racing coverage starting at 1.30pm and finishing at 6pm. ‌ Disgruntled viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter, to vent their frustrations, with many quiz show lovers switching over to BBC One's Pointless. ‌ One disappointed fan penned: "# TheChase since there's no Chase tonight, it's over to #pointless", while another chaffed: "Not #TheChase I was expecting #RoyalAscot." So Pointless will probably double its audience to at least 10." It's not the only ITV show that has been affected by the coverage. Yesterday, Loose Women 's Ruth Langsford announced that the show wouldn't be airing for the rest of the week. "That's it from us today, I'm afraid. It gets worse, we're not on all week," she told viewers. "ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be back same time next Monday. Until then, have a lovely week." ‌ The Chase first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV. Bradley Walsh taken aback by player's previous TV appearance

The Chase host was left offended by one contestant's remark during the latest edition of the ITV quiz show, which saw Fiona, Becky, Derek and Amitabh take part Bradley Walsh was taken aback by a contestant's comment on The Chase. Fiona, Becky, Derek and Amitabh were the quartet hoping to showcase their trivia prowess on the ITV quiz show. Amitabh, hailing from Delhi, India, was the first to pit his wits against one of Britain's top quizzers, in this instance, Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast. Having relocated to the UK merely five years ago, some queries proved to be quite challenging. ‌ Nonetheless, Amitabh demonstrated his impressive general knowledge, racking up £6,000 in his Cash Builder round. Host Bradley remarked: "For a dude that's only been in the country for five years you played an absolute blinder." ‌ In his head-to-head with The Beast, Amitabh made a promising start but found himself in a difficult one question shoot-out. Regrettably, his stint on the ITV quiz show was cut short when he was caught by The Chaser. He then heard Bradley's feared phrase: "For you, The Chase is over" and he left with nothing. Next up was Becky from Birmingham, who hoped to leave a better impression, reports the Liverpool Echo. She secured £8,000 in the rapid-fire question round and managed to clinch a spot in the final. Derek from Wirral followed in Becky's successful path, earning a place in the final chase and boosting the shared prize pot to £14,000. Bradley was left dumbstruck when contestant Fiona from Oldham confessed she'd been on BBC One's Pointless before facing The Beast on The Chase. The ITV host lost for words after Fiona's revelation, quipped with a tongue-in-cheek jab: "I shouldn't have mentioned Pointless." ‌ Bradley playfully ribbed: "So we're your second choice basically." Fiona quickly reassured him: "Never Brad, I've obviously been dying to get on the show." Fiona didn't clinch victory on Pointless and joined forces with Becky and Derek, hoping for better fortunes on The Chase. ‌ Bradley couldn't resist a slight tease, stating: "Not in a million years are you going to win now." He then threw an impossible question her way: "Here's your first question, what's my mum Margaret's third middle name?" ‌ After jabbing her with the mock question, Bradley lamented: "Pointless! Are you kidding me?" Returning to the game, Fiona impressively made it through to the final chase, contributing £20,000 to the prize fund. Despite an admirable effort with 19 steps ahead of The Beast, the Chaser caught Fiona, Becky, and Derek with just three seconds spare. Following their narrow defeat, Bradley couldn't resist another jibe: "Well, there's always Pointless." The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh left speechless after contestant's truth

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Bradley Walsh took umbrage at a remark made by a contestant on The Chase. The team comprising Fiona, Becky, Derek and Amitabh joined forces to put their knowledge to the test on the ITV quiz show. Amitabh, hailing from Delhi, India, was first in line to face off with one of Britain's top quizzers, Mark Labbett, known as The Beast. Having relocated to the UK just five years ago, Amitabh encountered some tough questions along the way. Nonetheless, Amitabh showcased his impressive general knowledge by racking up £6,000 in his Cash Builder round. Host Bradley praised him, saying: "For a dude that's only been in the country for five years you played an absolute blinder." In the head-to-head with The Beast, Amitabh began well but landed in a tense one question shootout. His run on the ITV show came to a close when he got caught by The Chaser. Amitabh then received the disheartening news from Bradley Walsh: "For you, The Chase is over", leaving the game without a prize. Next in line was Becky from Birmingham, who was determined to leave a better mark, reports the Liverpool Echo. (Image: ITV) After a strong performance in her initial round, Becky earned herself £8,000 and clinched a place in the final. Following Becky's lead, Derek from Wirral also secured his spot in the final chase, boosting the collective prize pot to £14,000. Bradley was completely taken aback when Fiona from Oldham revealed her past TV quiz show experience. Previously appearing on BBC One's Pointless, hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, Fiona unwittingly stopped Bradley in his tracks. Noticing the silence from the ITV host, she quipped: "I shouldn't have mentioned Pointless." To which Bradley retorted: "So we're your second choice basically." Fiona quickly reassured him: "Never Brad, I've obviously been dying to get on the show." She admitted not winning on Pointless but expressed hope for more luck on The Chase with teammates Becky and Derek. Jokingly suggesting he still felt slighted by her appearance on another quiz show, Bradley mockingly told her: "Not in a million years are you going to win now." He even teased her with an impossible query: "Here's your first question, what's my mum Margaret's third middle name?" before adding with irony: "Pointless! Are you kidding me?" (Image: ITV) After resuming the normal game format, Fiona went on to battle it out against The Beast, managing to make it to the final round and bumping up the prize fund to an impressive £20,000. In the final chase, despite the team's collective effort contributing to a score of 19, The Beast caught up to them with only three seconds to spare. As the contestants faced their narrow defeat, Bradley couldn't resist poking fun at the situation, jesting: "Well, there's always Pointless." The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
