Enda McGinley Down exude confidence but Galway have a higher ceiling

On paper, it's the tie that stands out across the All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-finals, as Down play host to Galway at Páirc Esler on Sunday. The Tribesmen, fancied by many to go one step further and bring home Sam this year, have stuttered during their run in the group phase, taking one of the third-placed berths following last weekend's narrow win against Armagh. Some observers will say that they got a kind draw in now facing Conor Laverty's side. It could have been a trip to Killarney or Ballybofey. But the Mournemen are no mugs, are scoring freely and gave Monaghan their fill of it, before losing narrowly. Assessing where Down are following that defeat at the Athletic Grounds, Enda McGinley believes they will now relish the opportunity in taking on the Connacht men. "Down are confident and will have not lost any of that confidence from their performance against Monaghan," McGinley said on the latest edition of the RTÉ GAA Podcast. "They emerged with huge credit and it was right at the very death that it tailed away - with that silly three-man breach that they gave away. They got punished hard right at the end but other than that they produced a good performance. Down will be confident in getting Galway to the Marshes and will not be one bit afraid of them." Nigel Dunne, also a contributor on this week's Podcast, alluded to Down's lack of fear, when saying: "It's power v pace here and Galway have all the advantages in size but Down are fearless and are completely bought in to what they are doing." The former Offaly star added: "I think Down have a really good chance but they would need Galway to be five or 10% off and that is a huge possibility with the way they've been going this year. In fairness to Down I think they are the one team that capitalise on Galway being a bit off." In assessing the championship so far, McGinley brought up the possibility of another unlikely winner, while also referencing how difficult it has been for the big guns to deliver consistent performances. "It is all about momentum, the top teams are struggling but it is still there to be got," opined the three-time All-Ireland winner. "This time last year, was anybody looking at Armagh as All-Ireland champions? Not a mention. The quarter-finals in Croke Park will be amazing games. The provincial champions this year have really struggled to sustain the push. The number of games, the ups and downs of the season, and the new rules means that it is tough to bring that energy every week. "If you are a wee bit off it with the new rules and the value of the breaking ball out around the middle, teams that have that wee edge, that bit of freshness, that's where it really does count. Teams that are off it have been caught." As to what might unfold in Newry, McGinley is accentuating the importance of just getting a win for one of the All-Ireland contenders and sees more of a threat from what Galway have up the field. "Down are unbelievably settled, so consistent in terms of their team. Pat Havern, who was unbelievable last week, probably doesn't suit Galway's best snubber-outer of men in Jack Glynn. "Galway have Havern to shut down but you feel there are more scoring threats in Galway. There is definitely a higher ceiling in Galway than Down and you're waiting for them to click - and now would be the perfect time for them to click. It just has to be a win; it does not have to be a statement performance." Kylie Kelce hits out at fans 'drooling' over husband Jason

Kylie Kelce has clapped back at fans who are 'drooling' over her NFL legend husband Jason Kelce, making sure they knew the now-ESPN commentator is off the market. The mother of four spoke on her podcast about those superfans of her husband that take it a little too far for her liking. Jason and Kylie Kelce have been married since 2018 and are the parents of four daughters - Wyatt, 5, 4-year-old Elliotte, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, who was born earlier this year. 'I think that people are posting what they would think is a thirst trap of my husband. We've got some people in these comments - they are f***king around, they are f***king around because they're saying things like how fine my husband is, or that they would like a piece, or they're doing the little drool emoji,' Kylie said. 'I'm going to need you to sit down, put your tongues back in your mouth and be respectful. That man is a father to my children. If I were not trying to be a responsible adult, I would also be commenting those things under my husband's thirst traps.' 'That's mine, so I'm going to need you to get your drool comments out of there. You guys can do some heart eyes - what I will say is that I don't read comments often, but I have seen a fair amount of people, they're falling for the thirst traps, but it's actually not on the market. That man is, he mine.' The mother of four spoke about those superfans of her husband that take it a little too far Kylie Kelce was left disturbed last week by an Eagles fan's revolting tattoo of her husband, where a team logo is in place of the lineman's manhood and the behemoth is in the nude. Joseph Moreira works at Pale Horse Tattoo Studio in Philadelphia and posted the tattoo from a female client's arm on TikTok, which went viral. In the tattoo, Jason is seen wearing cleats, knee pads, elbow pads, and his wrists are taped. Everything else is exposed with the future Hall of Famer in the buff. 'Excuse me???' Kylie commented on the TikTok, possibly in hopes of the couple's three daughters not seeing the imagery. 'I'm not sure if I should be offended or flattered. I think it's more flattered, it's a generous bird, good sized head,' Jason added on social media. Moreira told the idea for the tattoo started as a bet with a fan of one of Philadelphia's arch rivals. 'My client came to me for this traditional Jason Kelce tattoo. She's a Giants fan and was betting against the Eagles,' Moreira said. 'Part of the bet was if the Giants lost the game, she would get this Jason Kelce pin-up tattoo.' 'She told me the idea and that's the design I came up with. Even though the Giants lost, she was excited to get the piece and it's honestly one of my favorites.'

Anticipation for opening game against Everton will be 'almost feral'

BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope believes the anticipation for Leeds' opening game will be "almost feral" after it was announced they will play on a Monday Road will host Everton in Leeds' first game back in the Premier League on Monday, 18 August at 20:00 BST, meaning they will get to watch all the other top flight sides in action on BBC Radio Leeds' 'Don't Go To Bed Just Yet' podcast, Pope said that while a traditional Saturday fixture would have been nice, waiting a few extra days will only build anticipation."I wasn't expecting it to be Everton, I thought maybe Liverpool," he said. "The only disappointment is it's not going to be on Match Of The Day as it's a Monday night!"It'll be so full of anticipation - it'll be brilliant. Everton have a new home [but will be] coming to one of the hardest atmospheres you can come to in the Premier League. Leeds will be so up for that game."It'll be interesting to see where the squads lie coming into the game, but having seen all the games at the weekend waiting for that Monday night, the anticipation will be almost feral."Listen to the full podcast on BBC Sounds

Just Hours After His Quotes About Identifying Culturally As Irish Sparked Widespread Mockery, Ed Sheeran Has Hit Back

On Tuesday, Ed Sheeran's appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast was released, and one headline that came out of the interview ended up causing quite a stir on social media. During the chat, 34-year-old Ed, who was born and raised in Suffolk, England, said that he identifies culturally as Irish. This is arguably fair enough as Ed's father is Irish and hails from Belfast, with Ed spending much of his childhood in his dad's home country of Ireland. "I class my culture as Irish. I think that's what I grew up with," he told Louis. "My dad's family got seven brothers and sisters. We'd spend all of our holidays in Ireland. My first musical experiences were in Ireland, I grew up with trad music in the house. So I identify culturally as Irish, but I was obviously born and raised in Britain." "And I feel like just because I was born in Britain doesn't necessarily mean that I have to just be [British], there's loads of people I know that are half this or quarter this." Related: 18 Celebrities Who Called Out Other Celebs On Social Media For Bad, Problematic, Or Just Plain Mean Behavior "I don't think there's any rules to it. It should be how you feel and how you were raised and what you lean into,' he continued, and when Louis asked if he gets 'a lot of love' in Ireland, Ed said: 'It's basically my second home, musically. I'd say Ireland is the place that I am most successful musically." Before long, headlines along the lines of: 'Ed Sheeran says he identifies culturally as Irish' began to emerge on social media, and without the additional context of his dad's heritage as well as his childhood in Ireland, people were quick to mock the star's comments. 'I've seen B*Witched live and have watched a couple of Gaelic football games, which I think gives me an even more legitimate claim to be culturally Irish than Ed Sheeran,' one person tweeted in response to one of the news stories. 'Me after 1 Guinness,' somebody else wrote, while another popular response reads: 'Made a song called 'Galway Girl' and now thinks he's Irish.' And on Wednesday, Ed took to his Instagram story to hit back at the discourse as he shared a screenshot of a comment that he left for the haters. 'For anyone with an opinion after what I said about my heritage on the @officiallouistheroux podcast x,' Ed wrote alongside the grab. 'My dad is Irish. My family is Irish. I have an Irish passport,' Ed's comment begins. 'The culture I was brought up around is Irish. The first music I learnt was Irish.' 'Just coz I was born somewhere else doesn't change my culture,' he went on. 'I can be allowed to feel connection to a place half of my family is from.'
