Singal Cracks Down On Teen's Stalker, Orders Arrest, Quick Chargesheet

Nagpur: Commissioner of police (CP) Ravinder Singal took swift and decisive action against a stalker harassing a 17-year-old Class XII student, ensuring his arrest within 24 hours by Ambazari police. The accused, who had been tormenting the girl from a modest economic background for three months, was summoned to Singal's chamber, where he received a stern warning of severe consequences if he continued his actions. The case came to Singal's attention through the Daily Crime Report (DCR), which highlighted the plight of the student, who was contemplating discontinuing her studies due to relentless harassment. The stalker had intercepted her thrice on her way to tuition classes, and issued grave threats on two occasions at desolate locations, pressuring her to accept his advances. The distressed student had approached Ambazari police station, where an offence was registered under relevant laws, including sections of the Pocso Act . Noticing the case's seriousness and its impact on the girl's education, Singal issued strict orders to senior inspector Vinod Godbole of Ambazari police station to apprehend the accused immediately. "A trap was laid to nab the stalker," Singal said. "I've instructed the team to build a watertight case and submit the chargesheet promptly to ensure conviction under Pocso." The accused was arrested and presented before the CP, who warned him to stay away from the student and directed the police to ensure her education remains uninterrupted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? Clinical examination of child with parent's consent won't attract offences under Pocso Act, rules Kerala HC

Kochi: Kerala high court has quashed a Pocso case against a 70-year-old paediatrician, holding that the clinical examination of a child, conducted with the consent of a parent or guardian, does not attract offences under the Pocso Act . Justice G Gireesh issued the order while allowing a petition filed by the doctor to quash the case and further proceedings pending before the fast track special court (Pocso Act), Kozhikode. The allegation was that the petitioner had sexually assaulted a Class X student on two occasions during medical examinations conducted in the presence of her family members. The girl stated that on April 11, 2023, she visited the clinic with her mother for treatment of chest and abdominal pain, during which the doctor allegedly touched her inappropriately. A similar incident was said to have occurred on April 17, 2024, when she was accompanied by her elder sister. The sister noticed the victim shivering and later confronted the doctor, which led to the police complaint. However, upon examining the records, the court noted that neither the mother nor the sister alleged that the medical examination was conducted out of their view. It further observed that it is difficult to believe the petitioner would have acted inappropriately in the close presence of the victim's family members. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo While the victim may have perceived the touch as a 'bad touch', the court held that it would be unsafe to rely on an isolated and possibly misunderstood remark to infer sexual intent. The court also cited Section 41 of the Pocso Act, which explicitly states that the provisions relating to child sexual offences (Sections 3 to 13) do not apply to medical examinations or treatment carried out with the consent of the child's parent or guardian. Accordingly, the court quashed the case and the further court proceedings against the doctor.

IIT graduate among 15 arrested in Telangana for circulating online child sexual content

The Telangana Police on Wednesday arrested 15 individuals, including an IIT graduate, during a statewide crackdown against the circulation of online child sexual exploitative and abuse material (CSEAM). The operation targeted repeat offenders involved in uploading, storing, and circulating nudes and sexually exploitative videos of minors, mostly appearing to be foreign, in the age group of 6 to 14 years, with 90 per cent of content pertaining to girls, said Shikha Goel, director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau on Thursday. The accused are mostly educated and belong to working and middle-class groups, with the IIT graduate working in a reputed company, Goel said. They are in the age group of 19 and 50 years and have been arrested from Hyderabad, Yadagirigutta, Karimnagar, Warangal, Jagitial, and Jagadgirigutta. They have been booked under Section 67B of the IT Act and Section 15 of the Pocso Act. 'The accused are usually part of certain closed social media groups where such content is available for sale and purchase. Browsing content on sites is restricted. But they go on the dark web, where such content is freely accessible. We have so far blocked 220 websites. I want to stress that even browsing such content online is an offence and action will be taken,' she added. The arrested have been remanded in judicial custody, and an investigation is on to identify the victims, trace the origin of the content, establish the exact role of the accused, and dismantle their criminal networks, Goel added. The child protection unit of Telangana Police works as the nodal agency for CSEAM-related complaints. It was established within the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau in February 2025 and proactively monitors and acts upon the digital circulation of CSEAM material. Since its formation, in the last four months, the CPU has registered 294 First Information Reports (FIRs) and apprehended 110 accused, as compared to 37 FIRs and 34 arrests during the previous two years. 'Browsing exploitative content involving children is an offence and anyone involved in circulating the same is on our radar. We will definitely track them down and take action. As part of our one-day operation, we focused on repeat offenders,' Goel stated.
