Pixel 10 Series Set for August Reveal: Google Adds Tele-Macro Lens and Revamps Performance with Tensor G5
Google appears to be gearing up for a major upgrade to its Pixel smartphone lineup. According to recent leaks reported by Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 series is set to be officially announced on August 28. The lineup is expected to include the standard Pixel 10, the Pixel 10 Pro, the Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, with each model expected to hit the market on different dates following the announcement. A standout feature of the upcoming series is a new approach to macro photography. Google is reportedly introducing macro capabilities via both the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses — a significant shift from previous Pixel phones where macro was handled exclusively by the ultra-wide sensor. This dual-lens macro setup means the Pixel 10 will be able to automatically switch between the two lenses depending on how close the user is to the subject, offering improved flexibility and detail in close-up shots. In a first for the base model, the Pixel 10 is expected to sport a triple-lens camera system, including a telephoto sensor — a feature previously reserved for Google's higher-end Pro variants. While this is a welcome advancement, early reports suggest the base model may still fall short of the Pro versions in terms of raw hardware. For example, the main sensor is rumoured to be the Samsung GN8, which is slightly smaller than the GNV sensor used in earlier Pro models. Some of the supporting lenses could also be carried over from the Pixel 9a. However, Google's powerful AI-driven image processing might help bridge that gap, delivering standout photos even with modest hardware. Under the hood, one of the most significant changes is expected in the chipset. The Pixel 10 series will reportedly debut with Google's new Tensor G5 processor, rumoured to be manufactured by TSMC. This shift could bring major improvements in thermal management and battery efficiency — areas where previous Tensor chips have seen criticism. The move may help Google's phones better compete with flagship offerings powered by Snapdragon and MediaTek processors. On the software side, the Pixel 10 is expected to launch with Android 16 out of the box. AI will continue to be at the forefront, with new tools like Video Generative ML for dynamic video editing, Speak-to-Tweak for voice-powered photo edits, and Sketch-to-Image, which transforms basic doodles into detailed visuals. All of these are expected to run natively on the device, minimizing reliance on cloud processing and boosting privacy and speed. Design-wise, the Pixel 10 series isn't expected to stray far from the familiar aesthetic seen in recent models. The phones will likely retain flat sides, a signature rear camera bar, and minimal bezels, though slight refinements in thickness may be on the cards. Pricing is expected to be in line with last year, with the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro rumoured to launch at ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 respectively. Interestingly, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might arrive at a more competitive price point than its predecessor. As the August 28 unveiling approaches, anticipation is building for what could be one of Google's most refined Pixel releases to date.

Everything we know about Google Pixel 10: Rumored August launch date leaked
In May, an X user stumbled across a Pixel commercial shoot in the wild, fueling the online rumor mill and giving us a not-quite-up-close look at the flagship smartphone. Now, a fresh leak provides a possible August launch date, which means we could be just a few months away from the next generation of Pixel smartphones. It's hard to believe, but we're about to experience the tenth year of Google Pixel annual upgrades. What started as an uncertain experiment a decade ago is now a solid and dependable smartphone lineup from Google, year in and year out. This year looks to be no different, according to various rumors and leaks. The Google Pixel 10 lineup isn't quite ready to step into the spotlight, but that doesn't mean we can't get prepared in the meantime. Here is everything we know (and everything we think we know) about the Google Pixel 10 right now, including the latest launch date leak. SEE ALSO: The battle of the mid-range phones: Google Pixel 9a vs. iPhone 16e There isn't a lot of concrete info yet about the Google Pixel 10 lineup, but we have enough to get a general idea of what to expect. On June 2, a leaker on X reported that the Google Pixel 10 will officially launch on August 13. Soon after, Android Headlines also reported an August launch, though the details are slightly different. Per Android Headlines, the next generation of Pixel phones will launch at a Made by Google Event on August 20, with the phones being shipped on August 28. The site reported the lineup "will include the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. We haven't been able to independently verify the leak, and the details don't match up precisely. That could mean Google is still finalizing the exact launch date, and as with all leaks, manage your expectations. We know Google is actively prepping for the launch of the Pixel 10. How do we know this? MarksGonePublic apparently caught a video team shooting a commercial for the Pixel 10. You don't see that much of the phone in the screenshots, but this looks real. (Update: The MarksGonePublic account and post with photos from the commercial shoot have since been deleted.) Google traditionally announces each year's lineup in August, so we likely won't get official confirmation of the launch until then. As for how many Google Pixel 10 phones there will be in August, we can look to last year's launch to make a prediction. In 2024, Google launched the base Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold all at the same time. So far, there are no indications that Google plans to do anything differently this year. Until that changes, it's probably safe to assume this year's lineup will look the same, except with "10" in each phone's name instead of "9." According to Android Headlines, this year we'll be getting a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and a foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. I should also note that there may be a Pixel 10a at some point in the future, but if tradition holds, that won't be until 2026. The Pixel 9a arrived roughly six months after the Pixel 9. For the past few years, Google has been using its own custom Tensor chipset to power Pixel phones. It would be a huge surprise if anything other than a "Tensor G5" chipset was powering the Pixel 10 family. Android Authority has a detailed technical report on Tensor G5, but in summary, the main thing to know is that it likely won't be a huge jump over Tensor G4. Google hasn't really been setting benchmark scores on fire with the past few Pixel phones, but the Tensor chips have always provided smooth performance and good battery life, so maybe that doesn't matter. Of course, Tensor G5 will also enable plenty of wacky new AI features, but we don't know about any of those for certain yet. Again, we don't know for sure how much any of these phones cost until Google tells us. That said, Android Headlines has done some reporting about this, and the answers are pretty interesting. According to that report, the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro will retain the same price points as the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, or $799 and $999, respectively. Unfortunately, if you want a Pixel 10 Pro XL (which typically comes with a bigger display and battery), you'll apparently have to pay $1,200, up $100 from last year. Fascinatingly, it sounds like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will actually get a price drop from last year's Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The 2024 model started at $1,799, while this year's phone should be $1,599. Again, none of this is confirmed and is all subject to change, but for now, these are the prices we expect to see in August. The camera setup on the new Pixel 9a smartphone from Google. Credit: Alex Perry / Mashable Lastly, cameras are obviously a huge part of the appeal with smartphones, and Pixel phones have generally performed well in that respect. It sounds like Google is making a few interesting changes this year, if leaks are to be believed. Namely, it looks like the base Pixel 10 could get a third camera lens on the back, after years of Google only putting a wide and ultra-wide lens back there. This is according to renders obtained by Android Headlines earlier this year. A third telephoto lens could give the base Pixel 10 a huge leg up on zoomed in photos against similarly priced competition. That might come at a cost, though. According to Android Authority, the Pixel 10's rear camera array is a downgrade in terms of megapixel count from the Pixel 9. The new phone will have a 48MP wide lens and a 13MP ultra-wide lens, down from 50MP and 48MP, respectively, on Pixel 9. Those are actually the same camera specs as the recent mid-range Pixel 9a. It seem that the inclusion of a third telephoto lens necessitated these compromises in some way. It seems like the 10 Pro and Pro XL models will stay the same as the 9 Pro models, at least. According to Android Authority, they'll have the same 50MP/48MP/48MP array as last year. Lastly, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is allegedly receiving a slight bump in its main rear sensor up from 48MP to 50MP, but the rest of the array is the same: a 10.5MP ultra-wide lens to go with a 10.8MP telephoto lens. We don't have any specific insight here, but considering that Google I/O 2025 focused entirely on Gemini, artificial intelligence in general, and the upcoming Android XR augmented reality platform, we can confidently say Pixel 10 will launch with a full suite of AI tools. That includes the standard AI features you get with Google products like Gmail, Docs, and Gemini, as well as tools specifically for Pixel hardware. If we had to guess, our money would be on new AI image editing and video editing tools, as that's been a big focus for Google recently. Ditto real-time language translation. A new rumor claims the Google Pixel 10 will come in the following colors: Obsidian (black), Iris (purple), Limoncello (yellow), and Blue (yes, blue doesn't get a fancy name for some reason). As for the Pixel 10 Pro and XL, we can expect Obsidian (black), Green (same fate as blue, it appears), Sterling (grey), and Porcelain (white). UPDATE: Jun. 2, 2025, 6:15 p.m. EDT This article has been updated with additional information about the Pixel 10 lineup and a potential launch date.

Google Pixel 10 tipped to launch on August 20 with gimbal-level stabilisation
Google's next flagship smartphones, the Pixel 10 series, are reportedly set to launch on 20 August at the company's next Made by Google event. As anticipation builds, fresh leaks have surfaced suggesting a significant boost in video stabilisation, alongside new camera capabilities. According to a report by Android Headlines, the Pixel 10 lineup, which is expected to include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, will introduce 'heavily upgraded image stabilisation' designed to deliver performance on par with physical gimbals. While previous Pixel models already offered effective stabilisation, this new upgrade aims to offer smoother, shake-free videos, rivalling dedicated camera hardware. Google is reportedly planning to market this enhancement as an 'Action mode', similar to what Apple introduced in recent iPhones. This would likely involve fusing footage from the primary and ultrawide sensors in real time to reduce motion blur and jitters. If accurate, this feature could make the Pixel 10 a compelling choice for vloggers, travellers, and content creators who record on the move. The Pixel 10 range is expected to debut with Google's upcoming Tensor G5 chipset, offering further AI and camera enhancements. The report also claims the smartphones will be available for pre-order on launch day (20 August), with general availability starting from 28 August. While Google has not officially confirmed the event date, the August timeline would continue the company's recent tradition of late-summer hardware launches. If these reports hold true, the Pixel 10 series could mark a significant leap forward in mobile videography, positioning itself as a top choice for users seeking flagship-level camera performance, particularly in the area of stabilised, high-quality video capture.

Pixel 10 Pro Launch Dates Are Later Than Expected
Pixel 9 Pro Fold Ewan Spence Google may be inviting a small pool of influencers to an early preview of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro; however, the rest of the world might have to wait an extra week to see the latest Android-powered flagships. Initial reports suggested an event on Aug 13, but signs now point to a Made By Google event one week later. The new details come from the team at Android Headlines. The event will now take place on Wednesday, Aug 20, with the announced hardware going on retail sale on Thursday, Aug 28. While plans may change, Google is expected to announce four new handsets. The flagship Pixel 10 Pro and the larger Pixel 10 Pro XL will undoubtedly be the backbone of the four phones launched. These will come with the highest spec camera, memory, and storage options, tailored to Google's mobile artificial intelligence vision. Google's third foldable, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, will follow last year's trend and continue to be part of the main line of Pixels. The only non-Pro handset is the Pixel 10, and that might be the most interesting Pixel in terms of positioning and market impact, as I've noted previously: "While the headlines will no doubt focus on the extra features in the Pixel 10 Pro and the larger display of the Pixel 10 Pro XL, the Pixel 10 may have the heaviest impact on the market. The camera's hardware and software will be pushed to the limit, the latest version of Android will steer the conversation around mobile AI towards Google's vision, and the issue of the longevity of mid-range handsets will remain a point of discussion." The proposed dates of Aug 20 for launch and Aug 28 for availability would put the Pixel 10 launch one week later than last year's Pixel 9 family; 2024's Made By Google event was held on Aug 13, with retail releases on Aug 22 for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL—he Pixel 9 Pro was delayed to Sept. 4. Now read more about the impact of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro smartphones on the Android market...

Google's Pixel 10 series could be released even later than previously reported
How much of a difference can a few days make for an unannounced and unreleased mobile device (or four)? Well, Google's Pixel 10 quartet of ultra-high-end Android smartphones looked set for an unusually early June or July launch on Saturday, slipping to a far less surprising and familiar-sounding August 13 announcement date by Monday and an even later ETA today. While there's obviously no way to know if the initial rumor about a super-early Pixel 10 series launch (and release) had any credibility, Google apparently did plan to unveil its next big iPhone alternatives on the same date as the Pixel 9 lineup last year, but then revised the entire schedule for unknown reasons. These are more than just educated guesses, mind you, as multiple inside sources have purportedly confirmed the new dates... which doesn't mean they can't be changed again down the line. After all, August 28 is still nearly three whole months away, so Google is almost definitely not done testing the Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold for software issues and even hardware flaws. The Pixel 10 is now expected to see daylight on August 20. Keep in mind that this is a company that unveiled the Pixel 9a mid-ranger in March without an exact release date, despite almost certainly planning to kick off pre-orders on launch day. Ultimately, Google's cash-strapped fans weren't kept waiting very long for the search giant's latest budget 5G phone, but clearly, similar last-minute delays are also possible for the Pixel 10 family. Hopefully, though, Big G will be able to release all Pixel 10 variants at the same time, which was unfortunately not possible for the Pixel 9 quartet last year. While the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL started shipping just nine days after their August 13 announcement, the compact Pixel 9 Pro powerhouse and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold only went on sale in September 2024, disappointing a lot of eager early buyers. Before marking the revised August 20 pre-order and August 28 release dates in your calendar... apps, I'm pretty sure many of you would like to know if Google's 2025 Android high-enders are worth the wait. Believe it or not, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could prove to be a very smart buy, at least compared to some of the competition for the best foldable title this year, if its starting price is indeed $1,600. That's clearly not what I'd call affordable... by conventional high-end smartphone standards, but for a state-of-the-art book-style foldable device, it wouldn't be half bad, undercutting last year's Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and presumably this year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 as well. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be cheaper than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold it so strongly resembles. Of course, that's just an early and impossible-to-verify rumor, as are the $799, $999, and $1,199 price points of the Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro , and Pixel 10 Pro XL respectively in their entry-level configurations. If they prove accurate, those numbers would put the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro in line with their predecessors while oddly enough making the Pixel 10 Pro XL $100 costlier than the Pixel 9 Pro XL in its most affordable variant. The entire Pixel 10 family, remember, looks very similar to the Pixel 9 series in all those leaked renders from the last couple of months, and in the absence of many substantial under-the-hood upgrades, it will certainly be difficult for Google to justify any price hike. But again, nothing is etched in stone just yet, and that includes the newly rumored August 20 announcement and August 28 release dates.
