Pinpoint Weather Alert: Overnight strong thunderstorms into Sunday afternoon ahead of drier conditions next week

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Saturday! Tonight is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day as we are tracking some strong and severe thunderstorms moving through the Carolinas this evening. A few more storms are possible on Sunday afternoon before we get some drier weather as we kick off the new week. Along with the drier weather expect our temperatures to stay on the toasty side with highs near 90 degrees. As for tonight and your Sunday, a line of strong and severe storms will move through the region during the later evening and overnight hours with some of those storms likely being on the severe side. The biggest concern for these storms will be for strong and damaging winds along with quarter-size hail. The storms should start to move out after midnight, but some storms are possible overnight as well with lows in the mid-60s. Sunday more showers and storms are possible during the day with a storm or two being on the severe side. Highs on Sunday will again be around 90 with elevated mugginess. Heading into the new week, more warm temperatures are on the way for the Carolinas with perhaps a couple of showers and storms mixed in Monday and Tuesday. Highs to start the week will be near 90 along with more intense humidity for the region. We are expecting a weak cold front to move through later Tuesday, helping to make our humidity a little more comfortable during the second half of the week. But generally, this is going to be the first week where it truly feels like Summer all week long! So if you've been waiting for Summer weather, just know that it is here! Have a great night!
