CBFC Directs Sitaare Zameen Par Makers to Include Quote by Modi Mentioning the Year 2047: Report

Film The suggestion to include Modi's quote is part of the five changes/suggestions to the film which the CBFC has directed the makers to incorporate. Videograb from the trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par. Photo: New Delhi: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed the makers of the Aamir Khan-starrer movie Sitaare Zameen Par to include a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning the year 2047 in the opening disclaimer. The suggestion to include Modi's quote is part of the five changes/suggestions to the film which the CBFC has directed the makers to incorporate, reported Hindustan Times. The film was subsequently issued a U/A certification on June 17, which confirms that the modifications were done, with the Prime Minister's quote inserted after the film's opening disclaimer, which has also been changed as per the CBFC's directions. The newspaper reported that it was not immediately clear what the quote is about. The movie, which is set to release on June 20, stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, and tells the story of a basketball coach who teaches the sport to a team of intellectually disabled people as community service after the directions of a court. The other changes in the movie directed by CBFC were the replacement of the term 'business woman' with 'business person'; a 30-second disclaimer at the beginning of the film be replaced with a 26-second voice-over; a visual containing the word 'kamal' (lotus) be removed, along with its appearance in subtitles; and 'Michael Jackson' be replaced with 'Lovebirds' in the subtitles. In recent years, the CBFC has increasingly been suggesting cuts and modifications in movie scenes. In April this year, the CBFC had asked the makers of the film Phule to remove several caste-based terms, after objection from Brahmin outfits, resulting in the postponing of its release. The directive of CBFC included removing terms such as 'Mahar', 'Mang', 'Peshvai', and 'Manu's system of caste', with the censor board terming them as 'sensitive.' Ananth Mahadevan, the director of Phule had told The Wire that he didn't agree with the modifications suggested by the CBFC. Patralekhaa opens up on husband Rajkummar Rao being her cheerleader: That's actually how our partnership is

Patralekhaa has been in the busiest phase of her career in the last one year, with three releases in the span. While she tasted success on OTT, her recent big screen outing Phule failed to rake in big numbers. However, Patralekhaa is unperturbed by the box office collection of the film impacting her future career prospects. 'If you do your job well and you're good at it, I feel that people also understand that you cannot attach the failure of a film or the complete success of a film to a particular actor in that movie. That's why there are so many actors that are still so relevant and working. It doesn't matter whether their films fail or not, they still do get work,' she says. The actor also acknowledges the lull that the industry is going through currently. 'Yes, maybe the numbers are not doubling up and we're not getting that huge big-budgeted successful film, but I don't think either of us actors are thinking 'oh my God, I have to give a ₹200 crore film next'. We're really happy in where we are as you cannot predict the future of a film. I'm just happy that I get opportunities as I love doing this,' she shares. For her career boom, Patralekhaa credits OTT as she says, 'Back in the day, films were limiting. Your options were either you do films, or you do serials, and then they needed a prototype [of actors] for films. My journey began with Citylights (2015) which didn't need a prototype and thus, I got that opportunity. But those opportunities were very few.' She adds, 'But then the whole OTT boom happened where amazing filmmakers like Hansal Mehta with Scam 1992 and Anubhav Sinha with IC814 came. They were writing characters and were wanting actors for those parts. Not only me but a lot of actors started getting there due to it and I feel OTT has been a blessing for most of us.' While she admits that she never questioned the industry for lack of opportunities, she does see a change in perspective towards her now: 'I see love coming from these directors and producers, who couldn't see me in certain parts. I am seeing the love coming from my fraternity, and I feel grateful,' she says. Amongst the industry, her biggest cheerleader has been her husband, actor Rajkummar Rao. While Patralekhaa has been getting honours for her work in the last one year, Raj has been constantly been by her side being her biggest cheerleader. Mention that and she says, 'When I see it from a macro perspective, I know that what he's doing is something so heartwarming and I love and appreciate that. I feel blessed and grateful but when I go back to see it from our relationship's perspective, it's a bond of friendship between us. We are best friends, and we have always been cheering for each other through our good and bad times. So, while from the other side it might seem like 'oh my god, it's amazing' but for us, I feel that that's how it always is and that's how actually our partnership is.'

Koshish thi ki log samjhein unki ladai: Writer Muazzam Beg on the film Phule and the legacy of Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule

A still from Phule Writer Muazzam Beg Phule, a biographical drama about social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, is more than a period film - it's a story of two towering figures in India's reformist history. Writer Muazzam Beg says the journey of making the film began with a moment of personal reckoning. 'It was an important film to make,' he says, adding that he, too, was surprised by how little he knew about the couple's early activism. 'Jyotirao and Savitribai worked towards social reforms at a very young age,' he explains. 'Agar jan manas ki baat karen toh utna nahi jaante log. Jinko pan-India audience bolte hain, un sab tak Jyotiba Phule pahunchne chahiye.' Writer Muazzam Beg on the set of Phule Film ka core wohi tha - education aur untouchability ki jo ladai ladi thi unhone The film stars Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa in the lead roles and explores the Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule's pioneering work in education, caste reform, and gender equality. 'Ambedkar ke liye zameen toh phir Jyotiba Phule ne hi taiyyar ki thi,' Muazzam points out, referencing how Phule's efforts laid the groundwork for B.R. Ambedkar's later activism. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo In fact, Ambedkar himself has written extensively about Jyotirao and Savitribai, acknowledging their role in shaping India's modern reformist consciousness. Condensing such expansive lives into a feature-length film was, Muazzam admits, one of the greatest challenges. 'When an entire life has to be crunched into a couple of hours, you have to make decisions about what to show and what to leave out,' he says. 'But as a writer, and with Ananth Mahadevan as director and co-writer, we didn't take any cinematic or creative liberties. Everything that you see in the film is based on extensive research and facts. We referred to several books.' He adds, 'A biography is vast, and their lives were immensely vast. To make a movie, you have to hold on to the core, and for us, that was their fight against untouchability. Core wohi tha - education aur untouchability ki jo ladai ladi thi unhone. We wanted that message to reach the audience.' Writer Muazzam Beg on the set of Phule We were focused on two things: first, that the words should feel authentic to the people of that time, and second, that today's audience could understand them Writing dialogue for a period film came with its own set of challenges. 'Uss waqt ki bhasha bhi alag thi. Har tarah ke log thay,' he explains. 'We were focused on two things: first, that the words should feel authentic to the people of that time, and second, that today's audience could understand them. Those words that were too difficult to understand, we preferred to avoid. Koshish yehi thi ki logon tak baat pahunche.' The film pays close attention to detail - not just in language, but in costumes, settings, and overall tone. Shot at real locations, the film strives for authenticity. 'Aaj jab hum Jyotiba ki kahani bol rahe hain, toh uske peechhe ek maqsad hai - ki log ye samjhein ki kya ladai ladi unhone, aur kya change laa sakte hain hum apne society mein,' Muazzam says. He talks about the enduring relevance of Phule's ideals. 'There's no doubt that in the last 175 years, the time has changed a little when it comes to the caste system,' he says. 'I have been so inspired by Jyotiba Phule. He never discriminated against anyone on the basis of caste, gender, or any grounds. Once you decide what to do in life, how you go about it - that journey is very inspiring for me.' He adds, the goal was to ensure that the film remained respectful. 'It was very important for us to balance that nobody gets hurt by the film.'
