Yung Filly update sees star face two new sexual assault charges

Yung Filly - whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos - was charged with rape and other offenses over an alleged sexual assault on a woman in Australia last year British rapper, Yung Filly, is facing two new sexual assault charges relating to the assault of a woman while he was on tour in Australia. Filly - whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos - was charged with rape and other offences over an alleged sexual assault on a woman in the country last year. In March, he pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one of strangulation and four counts of sexual penetration without consent. However, according to court documents filed on Friday, the YouTuber, 29, faces two new counts of sexual penetration without consent, and no plea has been entered for them. ‌ ‌ The incident is alleged to have taken place on 28 September. Filly had been touring Australia at the time of the alleged offences. Filly appeared at Perth Magistrates Court for an initial hearing on October 10, 2024 where he was granted conditional bail. The bail terms stated that he did not discuss the case on social media, or contact the alleged victim. The rapper appeared in Perth Magistrates Court for a second time on March 11, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was told to appear in the District Court of Western Australia on July 13. On June 13, two new charges of sexual penetration without consent were filed against Filly. During a court hearing in November, the British-Colombian saw his bail request put on hold until later that day. ABC Australia covered the story, noting that Perth barrister Seamus Rafferty SC is representing the entertainer. Rafferty commented on the denied bail, stating: "This has already made headlines. Given the nature of social media, the nature of people jumping on bandwagons, given the nature of (the) power imbalance between the parties." ‌ A TikTok video from Perth's Bar1 Nightclub went viral last year, showcasing Filly – who has appeared in Channel 4's The Great Celebrity Bake Off – performing at the venue. Meanwhile, in a sombre contrast, images depicting injuries allegedly sustained by a woman were presented to the court. "No ordinary person can consent in those circumstances," stated the prosecutor in reference to the gruesome photos, adding: "Across her body is a history of violent acts, ... we say those photos and what is alleged is beyond the pale, beyond what could be considered to be a consensual act." Filly, who was born in Colombia and moved to London aged two as a refugee with his mum and sister began his YouTube career in 2013 before releasing his debut single Take Time in 2017. He went onto host shows Hot Property and Don't Scream on BBC Three and has also appeared in Soccer Aid and The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off. Filly's 10-day trial is scheduled to start on 20 July 2026.

Alan Adnan: Driver in Claremont Jetty police stand-off gets bail but ordered to stay in psychiatric ward

The man accused of driving a Jeep off Claremont Jetty during a tense police stand-off has been granted bail but will only change psychiatric wards for now. Alan Adnan was swarmed by tactical response group officers some three hours after police began trying to negotiate with the 32-year-old at the western suburbs landmark in May. It is alleged he had driven erratically on Walter Street — hitting a bin then a 57-year-old woman's car — then demanded a USB charger cable he spotted inside her vehicle while threateningly brandishing a tyre iron and ranting. The Bull Creek man is further accused of climbing onto the bonnet of her car and striking the windscreen, then ramming a police car that blocked him in after he drove onto the jetty. He allegedly reversed it before driving towards a police boat and plunging into Freshwater Bay. In a bizarre Perth Magistrates Court appearance the next day, Mr Adnan vigorously waved and smiled at family members in the public gallery, shouted 'objection' to parts of the police prosecutor's version of events and claimed: 'I was drugged by a meth addict'. 'My car was taken from me then then they off,' he yelled. Three passengers had apparently been inside the car before the dramatic scenes on the jetty. In the same court on Thursday, Mr Adnan's lawyer said that due to the 'circumstances surrounding' the incident, his charges of armed robbery and criminal damage 'may not remain as is'. 'I will just leave it at that,' the lawyer said. At the first hearing, the police prosecutor said additional charges of reckless driving and threats to do an unlawful act were being considered. Mr Adnan was remanded in custody at the high-security Frankland Centre within Graylands Hospital and appeared calm in his videolink to the court on Thursday, thanking the magistrate when she explained his bail conditions. The court was told the Mental Health Tribunal had met on Wednesday and extended his involuntary treatment order until September, which could be revoked if his treating psychiatrist deemed it unnecessary. A community treatment order, with restrictions, will be the alternative in that instance. Mr Adnan was told he would be transferred to a locked ward in a civilian hospital in the next day or two. He is not to consume illegal drugs and alcohol, and when he is not a resident in a treatment facility, he must undergo random breath testing and urinalysis, and report twice a week to Murdoch police station. 'OK, thank you, your honour,' Mr Adnan said, as his relatives again looked on from the public gallery. The matter will return to court on July 9.

Backpacker faces jail in Oz after killing pedestrian while drunk on e-scooter

Alicia Kemp (24) was arrested and charged for riding the hired e-scooter on a footpath and knocking down 51-year-old engineer Thanh Phan Pedestrian Thanh Phan died after being hit at the intersection of Murray Street and King Street by an e-scooter A British backpacker is facing 20 years in prison after she allegedly killed a father by ploughing into him while riding drunk on an e-scooter. An Australian court was told Alicia Kemp (24) was arrested and charged for riding the hired e-scooter on a footpath and knocking down 51-year-old engineer Thanh Phan. Mr Phan was struck from behind as he walked along Murray Street in Perth's Central Business District with a friend at about 8.40pm on Saturday. Alicia Kemp who had been riding the e-scooter that hit Mr Phan has been denied bail having appeared in court flanked by security guards. The court was told that she was in Australia with her partner on a four-month tourist visa and that she had been working at Durty Nelly's Irish pub. E-scooters on a street in Perth. Stock image News in 90 Seconds - 5th June 2025 She had been out drinking on Saturday afternoon from 2.30pm with a friend, who was kicked out of a bar for being too drunk. Later that evening, at around 8.30pm, she hired an e-scooter. Police told the court that she was the main driver, while her friend was a passenger. Prosecutors said that Kemp was driving in an 'inexplicably dangerous' manner and that pedestrians were forced to 'take evasive action'. 'She has careered into his back, causing him to fall forward and hit his head,' the officer said. Mr Phan, a senior structural engineer for Worley, was taken to Royal Perth hospital in a critical condition. He tragically died of brain injuries following the May 31 incident. Ms Kemp's 26-year-old pillion passenger was flung from the e-scooter but suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The whole incident that was captured on CCTV lasted less than 10 minutes. Pedestrian Thanh Phan died after being hit at the intersection of Murray Street and King Street by an e-scooter Vehicle examiners who watched the footage estimated Ms Kemp reached up to 25km/h, while the speed limit for e-scooters on footpaths was 10km/h. She was travelling at 24km/h when 'she careered into his back', prosecutors said, adding that this caused Phan to fall forward and hit his head. A police prosecutor told Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday that the 24-year-old a blood alcohol reading of 0.158 per cent. The police prosecutor told Magistrate Richard Huston that an upgraded charge was 'guaranteed'. Ms Kemp had been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm under the influence of alcohol, but that has now been upgraded to dangerous driving occasioning death under the influence of alcohol. It carries a maximum penalty of 20 years. Ms Kemp who sustained minor injuries and was not taken to hospital, also faces a charge of dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm under the influence of alcohol over her friend's injuries. The unidentified 26-year-old was thrown from the scooter and suffered a fractured skull and broken nose. The police prosecutor opposed bail as Ms Kemp was in Western Australia for four months on a working holiday visa. As she had connection to WA, she was considered a flight risk to which the magistrate agreed, despite the accused woman's duty lawyer saying she could be under a 24-hour curfew and surrender her passport. The magistrate said that remanding the British backpacker in custody was a 'very difficult decision for the court to make'. But he said that the prosecution's strong case and the prospect of a long prison sentence if convicted meant that there was a risk of her 'not returning to court to answer the charges'. 'The temptation might be that (she) won't return. I can't manage that risk.' Ms Kemp wiped away tears, according to Perth Now, as she was told she would be remanded in custody until her next court appearance on July 15. Mr Phan's profile showed he studied in Singapore before working in Vietnam then Sydney before moving to Perth. In a statement, Mr Phan's family described him as a 'beloved husband, father of two, brother and dear friend'. Saying the news of his death on Monday night had been heart-breaking, they called for a review of laws and safety regulations around hired e-scooters 'to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk'.

Esky of meth allegedly found at Christmas Island Airport, Perth man arrested

Police have uncovered an Esky allegedly packed with methamphetamine sent from Perth to Christmas Island. The discovery was made in November, and two Christmas Island men faced court earlier this year. On Friday, a Perth man was scheduled to front the Perth Magistrates Court. The 28g of meth were allegedly concealed in a bag of mince inside a large Esky. 'Methamphetamine is a devastating drug that causes immeasurable harm to users and their families, especially in smaller communities,' Australian Federal Police Inspector Dave Reis said. 'The criminals who push these substances are driven by greed and profit and have zero regard for the lives they ruin.' Police alleged the two Christmas Island men paid the Perth man to buy and send the drugs. The parcel was flagged at Christmas Island airport in November. A man aged 24 and another aged 30 were arrested in February. They have been charged with attempting to traffic drugs, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. In May, police stopped and searched a 50-year-old Perth man at Perth airport as he returned from regional Western Australia. Officers searched his home in the suburb of Cannington as well, and a phone and clothing were seized. He is charged with trafficking a controlled drug, a crime that also carries a 10-year maximum sentence. Australian Border Force Superintendent Shaun Senior said officers would hunt down any drug shipments. 'Regardless of the size of the facility or how the packages are concealed, we remain highly vigilant to those who attempt to circumvent our border controls, and our officers are ready to swiftly intercept and seize any illicit substances,' Superintendent Senior said. As an external territory of Australia, the laws of Christmas Island are officially decided in Canberra, and the island follows almost all Australian laws (with exceptions for laws such as the Corporations Act).
