Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Deputy Emir of Makkah Region and Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah Prince Saud bin Mishaal chaired a meeting of the committee to discuss early preparations for the Hajj season of 2026. This is in line with the directives of Advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah Region, and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. Prince Saud conveyed Prince Khaled Al-Faisal's appreciation to committee members for their efforts during Hajj 1446 AH, which enabled pilgrims to perform their rituals in ease and comfort. He emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the positive outcomes of this year's Hajj and urged all stakeholders to intensify their efforts, enhance cooperation, and begin early planning to meet the aspirations of the leadership through further improving the pilgrimage experience. The committee reviewed key measures to develop the Hajj system further and deliver improved services to pilgrims in the upcoming season. The meeting also examined the operations during pilgrims' departure through various entry and exit points, as well as other items on the agenda. Several recommendations were issued to support continued development and readiness for the next Hajj season.

Six flights were operated from Jeddah to Cairo, carrying pilgrims from the governorates of Sohag, Beheira, Giza, Menoufia, and Beni Suef, along with individual pilgrims, tourists, transit travelers, and business and residential pilgrims. This year, the national carrier is transporting approximately 66,500 pilgrims via 654 flights—comprising 324 outbound and 330 return flights. The operation includes pilgrims from the Hajj lottery, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), tourist pilgrims, and private charters, in addition to transit pilgrims from various countries. Cairo International Airport authorities are preparing for the arrival phase of the air bridge. The Cairo Airport Company, chaired by Chairman Magdy Ishaq, has implemented a comprehensive plan to ensure the smooth reception of returning pilgrims. The plan aims to streamline arrival procedures while maintaining the high standard of service provided throughout the pilgrimage journey. Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region and Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah, announced the successful conclusion of the 1446 AH Hajj pilgrimage. He confirmed that the pilgrimage was conducted smoothly and safely, with notable success in the areas of security, healthcare, and service provision.

Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Deputy Emir of Makkah Region and Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah Prince Saud bin Mishaal handed over the Holy Kaaba's new cover (Kiswa) to Abdul Malik bin Taha Al-Shaibi, the senior keeper of the Grand Mosque. The handover of the Kaaba Kiswa, the black cloth covering the Kaaba, is a significant annual tradition in Islam, marking the start of the new Islamic year and preceding the Hajj season. The Kiswa handover ceremony is a demonstration of the leadership's care and attention to the Kaaba, Islam's holiest shrine. The handover documents were signed by Minister of Hajj and Umrah and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, and Senior Keeper of the Grand Mosque Abdul Malik bin Taha Al-Shaibi. The handover ceremony marks the upcoming replacement of the Holy Kaaba's Kiswa on the first day of Muharram 1447 AH. The new Kiswa was produced by the King Abdulaziz Complex for Holy Kaaba Kiswa using natural black-dyed silk, embroidered in gold and silver threads. The covering stands 14 meters high and features, in its upper third, a belt that is 95 centimeters wide and 47 meters long, composed of 16 pieces framed by Islamic decorative patterns. It is made up of five pieces of cloth, including the curtain that covers the Kaaba door, sewed together. The handover ceremony is part of the preparations and procedures for replacing the Holy Kaaba's Kiswa in the beginning of the year 1447 AH, reflecting the leadership's care and attention to every stage from production to completion of the replacement.

During the meeting, Al-Rabiah briefed Prince Saud on the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's extensive efforts for this year's Hajj season. The deputy emir was informed about the wide array of services provided to pilgrims at the holy sites and the successful outcomes of the collaborative efforts among all entities involved in implementing Hajj plans and services. Prince Saud bin Mishaal met with Civil Defense Director General Maj. Gen. Dr. Hammoud Al-Faraj in Mina. During the meeting, Prince Saud received a summary of the Civil Defense's work in the holy sites, highlighting preventive measures, awareness initiatives, and operational strategies. The deputy emir also met with Public Health Authority CEO Dr. Abdullah Algwizani in Mina. During the meeting, Prince Saud had a detailed briefing on the authority's initiatives for the 2025 Hajj season, including an overview of the proactive role played by mobile units dedicated to disease containment, the implementation of field laboratory tests, and the strengthening of swift response efforts across the holy sites.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, reviewed the readiness of the Hajj security forces to carry out their field duties in ensuring the safety and security of the pilgrims. This came during his patronage of the annual ceremony organized by the forces participating in this year's Hajj season, 1446. In a speech delivered during the event, the Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, affirmed that the wise leadership has mobilized all capabilities to serve the pilgrimage and care for the pilgrims, making it one of its highest priorities. He also noted that these great efforts have produced exemplary outcomes in managing human crowds, coordination, planning, and integration among the various sectors, thereby ensuring the intended goals and allowing the guests of God to enjoy the highest levels of safety and security. His Excellency stressed that the Hajj security forces are at the highest levels of readiness and preparedness, and are capable of dealing firmly and effectively with anything that may disrupt the security of the pilgrims or interfere with their performance of the rituals, thereby ensuring a secure environment for them to fulfill their religious duties. The ceremony included live field simulations reflecting various security scenarios, as well as a display of advanced security vehicles and equipment, including security aviation and specialized vehicles used during the Hajj season.
