Newcastle United Are Ready To Step Up Their Pursuit Of This Brighton Striker: Should Howe Snap Him Up?

Newcastle United Are Ready To Step Up Their Pursuit Of This Brighton Striker: Should Howe Snap Him Up? In a recent report, the iPaper mentioned that Newcastle United are ready to step up their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion striker Joao Pedro this summer. It is believed that the Magpies are in pole position to land the Brazilian attacker this off-season. Pedro's Decent Run Of Form In The Premier League Pedro was a good performer at Brighton in the previous campaign as he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Brazilian wide player found the back of the net on ten occasions and secured seven assists in 30 appearances for the Seagulls last season across various competitions. Advertisement The 23-year-old led the line well for Brighton after he attempted 1.94 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He even kept 35.7% of his attempts on target. However, Pedro needs to improve his ball distribution, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 72.9% in the English top flight (stats via His current contract at the English club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Magpies to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window. (Photo by) Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Pedro Up This Summer? Pedro is a good runner with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the opposition half. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. However, the Brazilian attacker needs to work on improving his link-up play in and around the opposition penalty area. Advertisement Pedro knows the Premier League well by now and won't take much time to cope with life at Newcastle. He would no doubt improve the quality of Eddie Howe's attacking department. At 23, the best is yet to come from Pedro as long as he continues to improve with each season. He might even help the Magpies compete across all fronts over the next few years. All in all, Newcastle should focus on trying everything in their power to snap Pedro up this summer as he could go on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Alexander Isak.

Chelsea ready to rival Newcastle for Brazil forward

Chelsea are considering an approach for Brighton forward Joao Pedro, with the forward 'highly appreciated' at Stamford Bridge. Pedro is set to leave Brighton this summer after expressing his interest in a new challenge. Newcastle United approached the Seagulls last week to discuss a deal but could now face competition from Chelsea. Advertisement The West Londoners want to bring in another forward, despite the £30m arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Pedro's ability to operate across the frontline appeals to Chelsea, who are expected to let Christopher Nkunku leave this summer. The Blues are also without the suspended Mykhailo Mudryk, while Jadon Sancho's loan from Manchester United was not made permanent. Chelsea make contact over Joao Pedro deal According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have made contact with Brighton and asked to be informed on the player's situation. Brighton are understood to value Pedro at around £60m. The 23-year-old joined Brighton in a then club-record deal from Watford in 2023 and has since scored 30 goals in 70 appearances across all competitions. Advertisement Last season, Pedro scored 10 times in the Premier League and added six assists. Only seven Premier League players averaged more goals and assists per 90 minutes than Pedro in 2024/25. He was named Brighton's Young Player of the Season for his performances. Brighton have already added to their attacking options for next season with the €40m arrival of teenager Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiacos. Newcastle are also keen to add Pedro to their options with Callum Wilson set to leave St James' Park when his contract expires later this month. Brighton teammate drops hint on Joao Pedro transfer preference

Liverpool are on the brink of completing their first three transfers of the window this summer and once they're done, the attention will turn elsewhere with a new striker high on the shopping list. Who will the club target is an incredibly loaded question. Plenty of players are available on the market, but rival clubs have already started pitching their projects in hopes of an early move. Shop the LFC Store The new LFC x Air Max range 🔥 Nike x Air Max LFC x Nike Air Max Advertisement Buy Now LFC Retro Shirts LFC Retro Shirts Buy Now Home Jersey LFC Kits Buy Now LFC Nike Training LFC Nike Training Buy Now Given how impressive Liverpool were last season in the Premier League, and how well they have recruited so far this summer, you would expect players to be taking note of Arne Slot and his team. But securing personal terms is not always straightforward and there are a lot of factors that are often overlooked, which can make transfer moves incredibly difficult. Liverpool might have just learnt of a potential deal breaker in their hunt for Joao Pedro to move from Brighton to Merseyside. © IMAGO - Joao Pedro Liverpool Pedro's teammate drops huge future hint In an exclusive interview with Trivela, Igor Julio spoke at length about his teammate Joao Pedro. Advertisement He said: "He always told me that he really wants to live in London, I think he will prioritise more what comes from there first." As such, while Liverpool might not be completely out of the race for Pedro, it seems as though approaches from Chelsea and Arsenal will be those the Brazilian 23-year-old values more. Regardless of which way you spin it, this is a blow for the Reds because both London based clubs are heavily interested in a striker and the Brighton No. 9 is a proven Premier League asset. However, there's nothing Liverpool can do about it if geography is his decisive factor for a move. The Reds' approach for Martin Zubimendi in the summer of 2024 was unsuccessful, not because the project being built wasn't attractive, but because he valued the culture and environment in Spain. Advertisement Any sporting reasons for a move were dismissed right there and then. His decision to remain at Sociedad was a sentimental one. After a poor campaign this season, his impending move to Arsenal is based on an entirely different set of motivations. His sentimentality is now no longer important. With Pedro, Liverpool are at their peak - having won the Premier League and spending money in the transfer window like never before - but the club's location in the North and not the South is decisive. As such, the Reds will approach Pedro if they feel he could be a worthwhile asset to bring in, but no introspection is needed if he moves elsewhere. Sometimes, players just have their preferences.

(Video) Actor Pedro Pascal Shows Love For His Lookalike Contest Winner

Lookalike contests were all the rage last year, crowning lookalikes for stars like Zayn Malik, Timothée Chalamet and more. As it turns out, lookalike contests are still taking place today, with one man from New York winning a contest for looking like actor Pedro Pascal. According to reports, the Pedro Pascal lookalike contest happened at a restaurant in Manhattan, New York, on Father's Day (15th June 2025, Sunday). While 30 hopefuls had entered, the winner was George Gountas from Brooklyn, a.k.a Pedro #5. Not only was the 42-year-old dad crowned as Pedro Pascal's lookalike, he also walked away with US$50 (approximately RM212) and a year's worth of free burritos from the restaurant. Soon after winning the lookalike contest, George quickly went viral on social media – all because he actually resembled the 'The Last Of Us' actor. If you're familiar with these lookalike contests, the winners rarely look like the stars they're supposed to resemble, prompting heavy criticism. Thankfully for George, many said his win was well-deserved. Even the original Pedro Pascal seemed to give his approval. Pedro shared his reaction to George's win in an Instagram post about the lookalike contest. While the 50-year-old didn't directly say anything, he did leave a few emojis, including five moustachioed men, a teary-eyed smiley face and a heart. Fans were excited to see Pedro's comment about his lookalike, with some urging him to meet some of the contestants. Others even jokingly asked if he was secretly George. Interestingly, George has been compared to the Chilean-American actor for quite some time. His wife, Jenny, said people had begun noticing the resemblance after Pedro appeared on 'Game On Thrones'. George even said he looked more like the actor than his brother. As for joining the contest, the 42-year-old said he knew about it from a stage manager at 'The Daily Show', where he works as a lighting designer. Now, all that's left is for Pedro and George to meet in person so we can properly see the resemblance.
