Kerry village all set to sprinkle some fairy magic and fun
While many visitors flock to experience the fairy trails and fantasy-filled activities, the true heart of the event lies in its extraordinary community spirit and charitable mission. Organised by a small, dedicated committee of passionate individuals, the festival thrives thanks to the tireless work of local volunteers. 'We are totally reliant on our local community volunteers,' said Mick Brady, Chairperson Kilflynn Enchanted Fairy Festival. 'Their tireless dedication is what brings this festival to life each year, creating an event where people truly meet their neighbours and friends, fostering a wonderful sense of togetherness,' he added. From its inception, the festival has been supported by generous local landowners, whose hospitality has made the magical setting possible year after year. Beyond the captivating fairy trails and delightful attractions, every ticket purchased is a direct contribution to charity and local community organizations. He said in line with its local-first ethos, the festival proudly prioritises local Kerry suppliers wherever possible, helping to further strengthen the regional economy. In 2025, the festival is proud to support Kerry Hospice as its charity of choice. Over the years, other deserving causes have included Laura Lynn, Brú Columbanus, Down Syndrome Ireland, Kilflynn National School, the local defibrillator group, and Shannow Family Resource Centre. Throughout the festival grounds, local groups also run shops and special fundraising attractions such as the ever-popular Teddy Bears Hospital. Participating groups include Abbeydorney Ladies Football, Abbeykilleix Camogie Abbeydorney, and Kilflynn Community Games Crotta GAA 'This festival truly encompasses what a community is. It's about working together, supporting one another, and creating something truly special for everyone,' Mick said. 'However, this year also brings a bittersweet note to the celebrations, as it marks the last time Queen Pearl will travel the fairy trail. Her presence has enchanted countless children and adults alike over the years,' Mick said. 'But we know those tiny little fairy feet deserve a rest. Queen Pearl's incredible legacy with affection and gratitude. She will forever be a friend of this festival,' he added. Kilflynn Enchanted Fairy Festival is on June 29. Check out its Facebook page for information and updates. Prepare to be enchanted and inspired. There really is a little bit of magic in this village!

David Corenswet Is the 'Sexy New Superman' on PEOPLE Cover and the Actor Talks Christopher Reeve Similarities — GeekTyrant
Just weeks ahead of the release of Superman , David Corenswet appears on the cover of People Magazine, crowned as the 'Sexy New Superman.' As the marketing campaign for the film ramps up, this high-profile spotlight is helping to introduce Corenswet to the masses, not just as Clark Kent, but as the new face of the DC Cinematic Universe. Director James Gunn, who's spearheading the DCU reboot, couldn't be more confident in the casting. Gunn told People: 'He's got all the charm and muscles a Superman needs. He has, as one friend said, 'such Superman face.' But he's also an incredibly talented actor that could balance the dramatic chops and humor and naturalism and physicality the role calls for.' Corenswet's journey to Superman was much like Christopher Reeve before him as the actor trained at Juilliard and was heavily involved in theater. Reeve's legacy clearly looms large. Corenswet said: 'He was somebody who we talked about quite a lot as an alumni who was to be sort of admired and looked up to. People tell me I look like Superman, but don't realize that I'm playing Superman.' Corenswet has been steadily building his reputation with roles in Pearl and Twisters . Superman , however, is clearly his breakout moment. Gunn's reboot deliberately steers clear of the previous DCEU baggage, choosing to recast the Man of Steel rather than bringing Henry Cavill back. The goal was to give us a younger, more grounded Superman, someone already three years into protecting Metropolis, but still growing into the legend. Superman is 'set in a world very different from ours and far removed from the DCEU. Heroes have been around for ages, and we'll see how it affected this world's history and has shaped the DCU." The cast of Superman also includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois, Skyler Gisondo as Clark's best pal, Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce as The Daily Planet's Perry White; Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl; Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl; and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. It also stars Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific; Maria Gabriela de Faria as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampan as Eve Teschmacher; Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason, aka Metamorphosis; Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.; Neva Howell as Martha Kent; and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl backs Donald Trump over ICE controversy and Israel-Iran war
College basketball coach Bruce Pearl has backed Donald Trump over his illegal immigration crackdown, insisting that the president is 'making America safe again.' On Tuesday, the White House shared data claiming that zero illegal immigrants were released into the United States in May. That figure was more than 62,000 a year ago under the Biden administration, the White House said. And Auburn coach Pearl, who has been an outspoken supporter of Trump, was thrilled to see how Trump is handling the country's border security. 'We didn't need new laws, we just needed a president that would enforce the ones we already had! President @realDonaldTrump is making America safe again!,' he wrote on X. Pearl, who previously slammed Kamala Harris for her ' woke progressive beliefs,' expressed his support for legal immigration in November after Trump had won a second term in office. 'President Trump won big because more Americans believed he will fix Inflation, secure our border, support legal immigration, bring peace to the world through strength and put America first,' he said on X. The White House claimed that zero illegal immigrants were released into the US in May 'I pray and I believe he will work for all Americans, uniting us as one nation under God!' Pearl's latest remarks on immigration came as he also praised Trump's 'instincts' in regards to the Israel-Iran conflict. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump didn't rule out US military intervention as missile attacks continue in both countries. Nonetheless, Pearl trusts that Trump will make the right decision as he mulls deploying US forces to take out Iran's Fordow nuclear facility. 'He's got incredible instincts, like instincts that I think historically will be down as one of the greatest leaders in the history of the world,' Pearl said on Dont @ Me with Dan Dakich. 'That's a strong statement… I think the vast majority of it is incredibly calculated. Every now and then, it may be a little bit off the cuff, but I trust him.' Pearl also said that the world was 'about to become a safer place' with ' a non-nuclear Iran', and gushed about Trump's handling of the Middle East. 'If the Middle East gets safer and stronger, look at what dynamic country Israel is. Look at all the unicorns that are there. Look at all the high tech and development. Look at all the wealth,' he said. 'If you began to spread that to some of these other Middle Eastern countries, who are they going to partner with? The United States, Russia, China? It's going to be the U.S. because Donald Trump has led the way to create peace and prosperity for everybody in the region.' Pearl, who is Jewish, has especially outspoken in his support of Israel since the October 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas in 2023. Following his team's win over Creighton in March Madness, he campaigned for the return of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who was ultimately held in captivity for 584 days before his release in May. Trump, however, received a frostier reception from different sports figures on Wednesday as he hosted select Juventus players in the Oval Office. Several players - including Americans Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie - visited the president ahead of their Club World Cup clash in DC, but Trump seemingly baffled them as he spoke about trans athletes and the Israel-Iran situation with them in the room. 'It was all a surprise to me, honestly - they told us that we have to go and I had no choice but to go,' Weah said after Juventus' 5-0 win later that night. 'I was caught by surprise, honestly. It was a bit weird. When he started talking about the politics with Iran and everything, it's kind of like, I just want to play football man.'

Why naming your baby after their birthstone could see them lead a lucky life
Gemstone-inspired baby names are on the up - some you will have heard before while others are far more unusual Naming your children is one of the hardest decisions parents have to make. Your offspring will need to live with their name forever and it could even influence relationships, jobs opportunities, and first impressions in the future. Many parents-to-be will want meaningful names for their newborns. To help couples looking for inspiration, Diamonds Factory Ireland spoke exclusively with celebrity psychic and astrologer Inbaal Honigman. Inbaal explained that parents or carers looking for a spiritual boost when naming their new bundle of joy can turn to gemstone-themed names. As well as being lovely monikers, some of them carry specific connotations or symbolism. In fact, using a baby's birthstone as inspiration for their name is said to bring good luck and protection. Inbaal said: "Naming a child after anything valuable, is linked with the value of that item or element. "People who believe in the spiritual power of birthstones, might be more inclined to believe in the protective power of a jewel name, but the beauty of spirituality is that it is inclusive to everyone. "Belief is not necessary, and if you just like the sound, history or meaning of the name, that's also lovely. Spiritual luck and protection will be included anyway." More well-known names Emerald, Pearl, and Ruby make up the birth stones for May, June, and July tots. Inbaal explained how these monikers have grown in popularity, and carry a spiritual weight to them. "The name Emerald may simply mean 'green gem' but the colour green carries such a wealth of meaning inside it," Inbaal said. "Green signifies nature, growth and success. Green is the colour of the heart chakra, and to some, it is the colour of money. A jewel name can give a baby everlasting blessings, as jewels are very long-lasting." On Ruby, a hugely popular name for girls, the expert went on: "Ruby is known as the stone of the heart. "Girls carrying the name Ruby will be blessed with love, vitality, protection and vitality. Red stones also lean towards confidence and fearlessness." Opal also takes the stone spot for October - an up-and-coming name for baby girls related to healing and soothing. "Bestowing the name Opal on a child would bless them with creativity, inspiration and emotional balance," Inbaal shared. "All gemstones have their own qualities, so none are luckier or more spiritually valuable than another, but some may be more or less aligned with your own values." More unusual and, erm, 'out-there' names include Aquamarine and Periody. Aquarmine is March's stone for Tranquility and Courage, while Periody is August's stone for Prosperity and Protection. Although the meanings are nice, they might not be in the running for the next generation of kids' names.
