Dune: Messiah casts Jason Momoa's son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto Atreides II
Nakoa-Wolf Momoa has been cast in Dune: Messiah. The 16-year-old actor - who is the son of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet - is set to appear alongside Ida Brooke as Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and Chani's (Zendaya) twins Leto II and Ghanima, Deadline has said. Dune: Messiah will mark Nakoa-Wolf's cinematic debut and will see him appear on-screen with his father - who will be playing Duncan Idaho - while Brooke has been seen in Apple's sci-fi drama Silo and the 2024 BBC series The Primrose Railway Children. Dune: Messiah - which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve - will be based on author Frank Herbert's 1969 novel of the same name, and will follow Paul Atreides (Chalamet) 12 years into his rule as Emperor of the Known Universe while his reign is engulfed with political conspiracies and moral dilemmas. As prophecy collides with power, Paul must confront the cost of becoming a messiah. Dune: Messiah will see the return of Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson's Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem's Stilgar, and Josh Brolin's Gurney Halleck. Robert Pattinson is also said to be in the running for the antagonist role of Scytale - a Face Dancer and secret agent of the Bene Tleilax who plays a central role in Dune: Messiah as part of a conspiracy to overthrow Paul Atreides. The film is set to start shooting this summer, and is expected to hit screens in December 2026. Jason Momoa recently confirmed he is due to come back for Dune: Messiah as Duncan Idaho, who is resurrected as a ghola - a genetically engineered clone that plays a critical role in a conspiracy against Paul Atreides. Speaking on the Today show about his involvement in Dune: Messiah, he said: 'Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble or not. But it's the same thing like Game of Thrones, you know what I mean? If you didn't read the books, it's not my fault, right? 'I'm making a comeback. You got me in trouble!' Villeneuve said he felt 'inspired' to make another Dune movie after he took a break from the franchise following Dune: Part Two, which released in March 2024. Speaking to TheWrap, the director said: 'When I saw Part Two finished, finally, I realised that that was it. I'd done it. I'd done an adaptation of Dune. And that is something that is an incredible privilege. I'm very grateful to have the chance to have done it. 'I think my biggest surprise about this is that I don't want to run away from Arrakis. I'm still inspired to go back. That's the thing that I was the most surprised by.' The Blade Runner 2049 filmmaker had initially planned to tackle other projects before revisiting the Dune series for Messiah, though found the pull of completing the trilogy too much to resist. He continued: 'I felt that after Part Two, I would need a break. I thought that I would want to go write a few films or do a couple of things before going back to Dune: Messiah. 'But the images that kept coming back to my mind, the appetite is absolutely intact. That's the biggest surprise. I still want to go back to Arrakis.'

Dune 3 Cast Finds Its Leto II and Ghanima for Messiah
A day after rumors began surfacing that the upcoming Dune 3 had found its cast for the twin children of Paul Atreides, Deadline has confirmed the report. As previously rumored, newcomer Nakoa-Wolf Momoa (son to actor Jason Momoa) and Silo's Ida Brooke have joined the cast of the upcoming third movie, which is set to adapt Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah, which serves as a sequel to the 1965 novel Dune. Momoa will play the role of Leto II, while Brooke plays the role of Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani. The twins are introduced later in the actual novel, and serve as big pieces of the story throughout the final act of the novel. It's unclear how they'll be introduced in the film, however. The official cast of Dune 3 has not yet been announced, but several returning stars from the first two films are anticipated to be back. These include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa. Robert Pattinson is also said to have joined the film to play the role of Scytale, a main player in the world of Dune Messiah. Villeneuve's intentions, at least the last time he spoke about the projects, was to wrap up the Dune film franchise with the third film, completing a trilogy of films that told the larger story of Paul Atreides. It's unclear if Villeneuve has any plans to continue exploring the world of Dune beyond that, although he has expressed intentions to stop after Messiah is adapted. Newcomer Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Silo actress Ida Brooke have officially joined the cast of Dune 3, Deadline has confirmed. The two young stars are set to play Leto II and Ghanima Atreides, the twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), expanding the next chapter of Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic based on Frank Herbert's acclaimed novels. This marks the big-screen debut of Nakoa-Wolf, son of actor Jason Momoa, who is also expected to return in Dune 3 as a resurrected version (ghola) of Duncan Idaho. Brooke, who has appeared in Apple TV+'s Silo and The Primrose Railway Children, is a rising talent making her franchise debut. Dune 3, from Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment, is expected to adapt Herbert's novel Dune Messiah, set 12 years after Dune. Explain it to me quickly: What is aura farming, and is it cool or cringe?
Bertin and Luca. You're young people. Why are all the kids on my feeds suddenly talking about aura farming, and what does it have to do with Timothée Chalamet? Who has more aura than the Dune saga's prophesied leader Paul Atreides? Since that role, Chalamet has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Aura farming is all about cultivating the coolest version of yourself. Think well-tailored suits, lots of grayscale, serious stares and sharp angles. When Chalamet, playing Atreides, leads an army of hardened warriors in the sci-fi blockbuster, delivering a powerful speech and declares himself emperor of the known universe, he's aura farming. Kids have always wanted to be cool – now they get to farm for it. I'm guessing this farming does not involve a tractor. How exactly does one do it? By the simple act of being cool or mysterious: striking a cool pose, or performing great feats of coolness – a strike when you go bowling, flawlessly landing rubbish in the bin from 5 metres away, or completing a new personal best at the gym. OK, so aura farming is the same as earning aura points. But why is it farming? Like so much Gen Z and Alpha slang, it emerges when the world of video games and anime collides with TikTok. In many video games, to farm is to endlessly grind at a digital task to gain experience, currency or items (wow, art imitating life). Some examples – such as World of Warcraft or more recently, Fortnite – are notorious for sucking hours, days, maybe even months from people's lives as they farm in pursuit of these things. TikTokers count the aura points earned when they do something cool; players of games like Elden Ring farm aura by performing spectacular game play moves, or standing against a backdrop of cool scenery and wearing all their their cool gear – to share with viewers on a stream, or social media followers, or just for their own satisfaction. Just as there are video game streamers and entire YouTube channels dedicated to playing a game quickly or skilfully, there are others devoted to mastering the art of playing stylishly and smoothly. Of course these worlds were going to cross over. Back in my day, spending hours playing video games wasn't exactly cool … If the number of television adaptations of video games are any indication, maybe the definition of cool has changed. But you do have a point. Aura farming refers to a sense of cool that is very specific to video games and anime. The most famous examples of aura farmers – you could start with Piccolo, Gon, Sangwoo, to name a few – all come from that world. Can you aura farm in real life? Yes. There's always riding your bike with hands in your pockets down the main street of your university campus. Or pretending to be so famous that people want your autograph. On election day in Australia, one dedicated aura farmer walked past polling booths signing how to vote cards as if he were a celebrity – a riff on the existing trend of autographing receipts and pieces of paper you dropped in front of celebrities on purpose. This doesn't sound that cool, honestly. The main difference between aura farming in a game and in real life is that if you're doing the latter, you're running the risk you'll be made fun of. Where there is cool, there is also cringe. They are two sides of the same coin. And trying too hard to aura farm is not cool. If someone from Gen Alpha or Z says you're aura farming, pay attention to the tone. If it's accusatory, they're mocking you. If they're laughing, they're mocking you. Just hope that if someone says it to you, it's in sheer awe of your presence … and aura. OK, so to put it in terms my calcified millennial mind can understand, that time I saw Chloë Sevigny smoking on the dancefloor at a New York fashion week party, she was aura farming in the cool way. But then when my friend lit a cigarette right afterward and we were told it was a no-smoking venue, we were aura farming in the cringe way? You're aura farming just by telling that story.
