What is the FASTag Annual Pass? The FASTag Annual Pass allows free passage of private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas. Once activated, the pass eliminates per-trip user fees for up to 200 trips or one year, whichever is completed first. How to Activate the Annual Pass in Your Existing FASTag Account If your FASTag is already active and linked to a valid (non-blacklisted) registration number and properly affixed to the vehicle's windshield, you can activate the annual pass using that same FASTag. No new tag is required, provided eligibility conditions are met. Where Can I Purchase the FASTag Annual Pass? The Annual Pass will be available exclusively through the RajmargYatra mobile app and the official NHAI website. Users should avoid any third-party sources to ensure authenticity and eligibility. For How Long is the FASTag Annual Pass Valid? The pass remains valid for one year from the date of activation or for 200 completed trips, whichever comes first. After expiry, it automatically reverts to a regular FASTag, and users can reactivate the annual pass to avail the benefits again. What Counts as a Single Trip Under the FASTag Annual Pass? Set to be implemented from August 15, this scheme will reduce the financial burden on highway for users by reducing the toll cost. The new FASTag Annual Pass will offer users 200 toll plaza crossings on National Highways in one year beginning from the date of its activation. In light of this new scheme, the Union minister also took to X and shared answers to some queries on the FASTag Annual Pass. Annual Pass activated on the FASTag allows free passage of private car/jeep/van at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier), without per-trip user fee charges. The Annual Pass will be effective from August 15, 2025 The Annual Pass is available only on the Rajmargyatra mobile application and NHAI website The Annual Pass will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag. FASTag Annual Pass: Will use existing infrastructure The annual pass will allow private vehicle owners to travel across national highways and state expressways for a year without paying additional toll charges. It will be based on the existing FASTag infrastructure and will later comply with the sensor-based toll collection systems that could be introduced in the future. The move should make travel for private vehicles much easier on toll roads without making a significant impact on revenue. The government collected about ₹ 55,000 crore in revenue from toll collection in FY2023-24. However, private cars contributed only ₹ 8,000 crore to the same. The move will also reduce the cost burden for vehicle owners.
