Jobe Bellingham: "You have to listen to your heart – that's what I did"

...his start at BVB: 'It's been really good. I met the lads and signed before I flew over, so I feel like I'm settling in really well at the club. It's obviously difficult when you sign for a new club and then you have to fly away immediately. But a lot of people have made it as easy as possible for me. So yes – to be honest, it's been really fun so far. There are a few players who speak English. Pascal, for example, has helped me a lot on the pitch. I enjoy learning from him and asking him questions because he has a wealth of experience at the highest level. Then of course there's Jamie, Carney, Gio – the English lads I spent a lot of time with at the beginning. But now I talk to a lot more players and also spend a lot of time with Felix. There's a really good mix of young and experienced players, and I'm really enjoying that. The guys look after me well.' ...adjusting to the conditions in the USA: 'Yes, it's difficult – especially the humidity and the heat. It's completely different to anything I experienced in Sunderland or Dortmund, of course. It's something new, but it's a unique tournament, so you just have to face up to things like that. I think we've done quite well so far. We're still training very intensively, so it's not looking too bad.' Advertisement ...his debut for Borussia Dortmund against Fluminense: 'It felt a bit surreal and, to be honest, strange. Why? Well, because it was in the United States – it's just a completely different feeling. But it was definitely a cool moment. A stadium I'd never played in or been to before. It was really cool. And I felt pretty comfortable on the pitch – so yes, I'm happy.' Inline Image ...his favourite position on the pitch: 'I feel most comfortable in the centre of the pitch, where everything is happening around me. I can move in different directions and I'm not tied to the touchline. Maybe as a box-to-box player in a double-six system – yes, that's pretty much spot on. I like being everywhere between the lines. But I also enjoy playing as a number ten, eight or six. Each of these positions is interesting. The main thing is that I get a lot to do – I like that. Wherever the coach needs me is fine with me.' ...his role models: 'I'm always watching midfielders. Documentaries too. I've seen the Gerrard documentary so many times. Maradona too – his documentary is great, but I can't learn much from him because he was just too good. I also watch Patrick Vieira a lot. I always thought he was more defensive, but he could actually do everything. Gerrard is another one I watch all the time. And lots of other midfielders.' Inline Image ...his time at Sunderland: 'It was a massive experience. I would recommend it to any young player. It's a big club with passionate fans – one of the biggest in England. I played in different positions there, experienced big games – it was huge for my development. Above all, I had a leadership role there, even at a young age. That will help me now at Dortmund, where you need those qualities. You have to overcome challenges – that's essential at a club like BVB. I think that comes from my upbringing and my circumstances. Also from my parents. I grew up in a safe environment and had a lot of support at school and in football.' Advertisement ...mistakes: 'I played a lot of tough games at Birmingham, we weren't always the best team. That teaches you resilience. You fail a lot, but you learn from it. I always reflect, look back at things again. And I have people around me who support me. That's one of the main reasons why I came to Dortmund – because I feel that the people here really care about my development. And they have the expertise, you can see that in the many players they have developed.' Inline Image ...his decision to join Borussia Dortmund: 'It may sound contradictory, but I was biased against Dortmund for a long time – precisely because Jude played here. I wanted to go my own way and had fears. But I spoke to Hans-Joachim Watzke and Janni – they came to England after the playoff final. And Hans-Joachim Watzke's words were decisive: 'It's not about being different. It's about doing the right thing.' And for me, that was Dortmund. It wasn't a decision made out of convenience – it was the right one. It would have been a mistake not to sign just because my brother was here. You have to listen to your heart – and that's what I did.' ...his decision to wear his first name on his shirt: 'When I signed for Sunderland, it was suggested to me by someone, a special coach I had there who I also had in Birmingham. I was still young and thought it was cool to have my own name on the back. It didn't have any deeper meaning – but it's become something unique. It shows that I'm going my own way. Some people don't like it – I don't care. You can't follow your goal and listen to everyone at the same time. I only listen to people who know what they're talking about – not internet critics who just spout nonsense. I just try to get better every day. And my name on my shirt is part of that.' Advertisement ...switching off from professional football: 'Playing FIFA? Watching YouTube? No, but seriously – I had a life before football. I'm a human being, a boy. I used to fool around with my brother and had a happy life. And that doesn't change as a professional footballer. It's important to live in the moment – even if I'm not always good at it. But I'm getting better.' Jon Stewart Shocked His Staffer Won A Pedro Pascal Lookalike Contest

The fake Pedro Pascal may be as charming as the real Pedro Pascal. On Tuesday, The Daily Show shared a behind-the-scenes clip to its X account in which Jon Stewart revealed to fans that the winner of a New York-based Pedro Pascal lookalike contest was George Gountas — who happens to be the lighting designer for The Daily Show. After inviting Gountas on stage, who looks like he could be a long-lost member of Pascal's family, Stewart made a confession. 'I've never noticed he looks like Pedro Pascal,' Stewart admitted, before showing a photo of what Gountas typically looks like in the office, which looks less like Pascal, but still very Pascal-esque. 'How did you do this?' Stewart asked Gountas. Gountas then launched into a very funny explanation as to how he went from 'Pedro No. 5' during a silly contest on Sunday to its ultimate winner. Gountas explained that a fellow Daily Show staffer noticed fliers for the contest last week. The contest was held at Son Del North, a Mexican restaurant in the lower east side, and the prize for the winner was $50 and a year's supply of free burritos, according to local news station FOX 5 New York. The co-owner of the eatery, chef Annisha Garcia, told People she was inspired to create the contest after coming across an interview with Pascal in which he said that there isn't any 'good Mexican food in New York City.' Gountas went on to tell Stewart about the contest, who was only mildly interested, and completely forgot about it. That was until he mentioned it to his wife, Jenny, just two days before the contest — and Jenny told Gountas he was absolutely doing it. Contesting whether Gountas liked it or not, Jenny enlisted the help of a neighbor, who was a stylist, in order to pin down Pascal's look. 'And I showed up on Father's Day — you were supposed to pre-sign up, I did not sign up,' Gountas said. 'I rolled up, and I was like, 'Yo, I'm here.' And they're like, 'You're going to win.'' And he did. So, Gountas decided to be a good hubby and shared his wife's request on camera in hopes that Pascal would receive the message. 'Hey Pedro, this is Pedro No. 5 from New York,' Gountas began. 'It would be a great, great, great gift if you could meet my wife, Jenny. It would mean the world to her. We need to make this happen.' The winner of the Pedro Pascal lookalike contest is also The Daily Show's lighting designer, George Gountas! #AfterTheCut — The Daily Show (@TheDailyShow) June 17, 2025 Although it's currently unclear if Pascal is even aware of this whole fiasco, fans of the Daily Show were blown away by how much Gountas does look like the Last of Us star. See their comments below. I almost feel like that is Pedro Pascal and they're punking us. Anyway Pedro has to meet Jenny he just has to! — Nice4What (@mizztotal) June 18, 2025 @mizztotal/X / Via @dailyshow should change their intro to say "now featuring pedro pascal on camera 2" — Lucas Lyons (@lucaslyonsart) June 18, 2025 @lucaslyonsart/X / Via Pretty amazing!!! Pedro Pascal lookalike winner looks more like Pedro Pascal than Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal lookalike winner looks more like Pedro Pascal than Pedro Pascal At first glance, it might appear like Pedro Pascal crashed his own lookalike contest in New York City over the weekend. Not that Pascal needed the $50 and year of free burritos that made up the grand prize or anything, but with Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps set to hit theaters next month, it wouldn't have been surprising if Pedro was doing some fun promotion work. Nope. Not the case. The truth is the actual Pedro Pascal lookalike winner looked so much like Pedro Pascal that, well, we had to convince ourselves he is not, in fact, Pedro Pascal. The winner, Pedro No. 5, is better known as George Gountas. Entertainment Weekly notes Gountas does have some experience in the industry — he's serves as a lighting director for The Daily Show as well as providing the same services for stand-up specials featuring Trevor Noah, Ramy Youssef, Pete Davidson, and Chris Rock. But his uncanny resemblance to Pascal became pretty hard to ignore over the past few years. Per the New York Post: 'It started when the 'Game of Thrones' came out the first time — that's when we first heard it,' Gountas' wife, Jenny Gania, said of people noticing her hubby's likeness to the 50-year-old Chilean-born actor, who famously starred as bounty hunter Din Djarin in 'The Mandalorian.' 'Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like, when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat,' ' Gania said she told her husband. 'It's funny, because he's not on social media at all. But now he's going to be everywhere." The competition featured 30 Pedros and was organized Son Del North chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia, who got the idea after Pascal infamously bashed New York's Mexican food scene during a 2023 appearance on Hot Ones. Obviously the only thing left to do is put the Timothée Chalamet, Glen Powell, Jeremy Allen White and Pedro Pascal doppelgängers in a movie and see what happens.

NYC dad dragged to Pedro Pascal lookalike contest — wins $50, year's worth of burritos: ‘A bit of sunshine today'

This Mandalorian earned his bounty. A Brooklyn dad was dragged by his family to a look-alike contest for actor Pedro Pascal on Sunday — and ended up winning it. George Gountas took home $50 — and a year's supply of burritos — for being the closest ringer to Pascal — the star of series including the 'Star Wars' spin-off 'The Mandalorian' and 'Game of Thrones' — at the Lower East Side's Son Del North Mexican restaurant. 'It started when the 'Game of Thrones' came out the first time — that's when we first heard it,' Gountas' wife, Jenny Gania, said of people noticing her hubby's likeness to the 50-year-old Chilean-born actor, who famously starred as bounty hunter Din Djarin in 'The Mandalorian.' 'Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like, when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat,' ' Gania said she told her husband. 'It's funny, because he's not on social media at all. But now he's going to be everywhere.' Gountas of Greenpoint edged out nearly 30 other people for the title. Restaurant chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia said the inspiration for the Manhattan contest came from Pascal's famous 2023 quip that there was no decent Mexican food in the Big Apple. 'I'm, 'So sorry, but there's no Mexican, good Mexican food in New York?' ' Garcia said. 'And we were like, 'There is, and we are here.' ' Co-owner Wim Shih said the whole idea behind the contest was to bring a smile to folks during troubled times. 'There's just so much sadness in the world right now, and we wanted to be a bit of sunshine today amidst all that,' Shih said. The wannabe-Pascals who showed up for the contest included one participant sporting a t-shirt that read, 'Protect the Dolls and all Immigrants' — a play on the slogan, 'Protect the Dolls,' that the actor popularized to support his transgender sister, Lux Pascal. Pascal has earned wide acclaim for his roles, which also have included Oberyn Martell in the hit series 'Game of Thrones' and Joel Miller in 'The Last of Us.'
