The eastbound lanes of Highway 417 reopened to traffic in Ottawa's downtown area Thursday afternoon, after a two-vehicle crash closed the highway for four hours. Emergency crews responded to a call for a crash in the left lane of Highway 417 just before Nicholas Street at 11:55 a.m. An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said the call was for a vehicle that was rear-ended on the highway, and the vehicle then struck the median. The paramedic spokesperson said it's believed the driver was struck by items that were inside the vehicle. In an update on X, police said the injured driver remains in hospital in critical but stable condition. Emergency crews responded to a call for a tractor-trailer in the ditch along the southbound lanes of Highway 416 near West Hunt Club Road at 3 a.m. Friday. The Ottawa Fire Service said the initial call was for a vehicle on its side in the ditch. Firefighters had to stabilize the vehicle before using specialized tools to safely extricate the trapped occupant from the truck. An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said a man was treated at the scene for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and he was transported to hospital.

Woman injured after clinging to a car during an altercation in Ottawa's Centretown neighbourhood

Laurier Avenue was closed between Elgin Street and Metcalfe Street Friday morning for a police investigation. (Josh Pringle/CTV News Ottawa) A woman is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after clinging to a moving car during an altercation in Ottawa's Centretown neighbourhood early Friday morning. The Ottawa Police Service says officers responded to a call for an altercation involving two people in the 100 block of Elgin Street just after 4 a.m. 'The altercation occurred in front of a building, and when one person attempted to drive away, the other clung to the vehicle for a short distance,' police said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa. 'The individual was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.' An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa a woman was 'dragged by a car a short distance.' She was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. Yellow police tape blocked a section of Laurier Avenue, between Elgin Street and Metcalfe Street, at 6 a.m. Police say the investigation continues.

The Ottawa Police Service responded to a shooting on Ashwick Court in Craig Henry Sunday evening. A man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. (Sean Devine/Facebook) A man was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition following an evening shooting in Ottawa's Craig Henry neighbourhood. Emergency crews responded to a call for a shooting on Ashwick Court, off Craig Henry Drive, at 8:40 p.m. Sunday. An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson says paramedics treated a man for non-life-threatening injuries. Coun. Sean Devine said on Facebook, 'just got back from the site of another shooting in Craig Henry.' 'This was described by the duty officer as a 'drive-by' shooting resulting from an altercation with one resident of Ashwick Court,' Devine said. The Ottawa Police Service is investigating the shooting. No other information has been released.
