Espionage accused YouTuber Jasbir Singh sent to 14-day judicial custody
Mohali (Punjab) [India], June 10 (ANI): YouTuber Jasbir Singh who was arrested on espionage charges, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Mohali court. Jasbir's lawyer, Mohit, on Monday said that Jasbir will stay in custody until June 23. 'He was produced in the court. He has been sent on a 14-day judicial remand. He will stay in judicial remand until June 23. After discussion, we will file a bail application,' Mohit remarked. Jasbir Singh, who ran the YouTube channel 'Jaan Mahal,' is allegedly linked to a terror-backed espionage network involving Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, as per police sources. He is also said to have maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, previously arrested for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, said the police. On Wednesday, Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar has arrested a YouTube influencer for spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab, in an official statement. Earlier, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused, Jasbir Singh, has been found associated with Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, part of a terror-backed espionage network. He also maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra-- arrested for spying by Haryana Police-- and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, as per the statement. He said that investigations have revealed that Jasbir attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. The accused has also travelled to Pakistan on three occasions, including in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and came into direct contact with ISI officers, who subsequently cultivated and recruited him to carry out espionage activities within India, he added earlier. The DGP said that after Jyoti Malhotra's arrest, the accused, Jasbir, had attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators, he added. (ANI)

Espionage case: Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh sent to judicial custody
A Mohali court on Monday (June 9, 2025) sent Punjab-based YouTuber Jasbir Singh, arrested on espionage charges, to judicial custody. Mr. Singh was produced before the court after the completion of this two-day police remand. Post his arrest on June 4, he was sent to three days of police remand following which it was extended for two days. Mr. Singh's counsel Mohit Dhupar said he will be produced in court again on June 23. Jasbir Singh alias Jaan Mahal (41), who hails from Mahlan Village in Rupnagar District, was running a YouTube channel "JaanMahal Video" with over 11 lakh subscribers, ostensibly posting travel and cooking vlogs. He was alleged to be in close touch with Haryana-based influencer Jyoti Malhotra, who is in judicial custody on charges of spying for Pakistan. Mr. Singh's family, however, maintained he was innocent and claimed he was arrested despite cooperating with the police for over 10 days. On June 7, the YouTuber's counsel said Punjab Police summoned his client between May 17 and May 30. After Mr. Singh's arrest, Punjab Police claimed that it had unearthed a "terror-backed espionage network" linking him to Pakistani intelligence and army officials. Police said that the YouTuber was allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. Singh was found to be associated with a Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO), was in contact with a Pakistan High Commission official who was last month expelled from New Delhi on charges of spying and had met Pakistan Army officials during one of his three visits to the neighbouring country, police said previously. Mr. Singh was also found to be associated with Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, part of a terror-backed espionage network. The accused travelled to Pakistan on three occasions, including in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and came into direct contact with ISI officers, who subsequently cultivated and recruited him to carry out espionage activities within India, police added. Investigations revealed that Mr. Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. After Ms. Malhotra's arrest, the accused Mr. Singh reportedly attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection. Mr. Singh is accused of relaying sensitive information about the movement of the Indian Army and other inside activities of the country to Pakistan.

'Pak' spy YouTuber Jasbir Singh's police custody extended by 2 days
A Mohali court on Saturday extended the police custody of Punjab-based YouTuber, Jasbir Singh Mahal, who was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan with links to the Jyoti Malhotra espionage case, by two YouTuber, who runs the channel "Jaan Mahal" with over 1.1 million subscribers, was produced before the court after his three-day police remand expired on Saturday. Police had sought a seven-day remand, but the court granted only two Singh (41), a resident of Mahlan village in Punjab's Rupnagar district, was first taken into custody by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, based on actionable intelligence on Wednesday. Jasbir Singh is the second digital content creator to be arrested in recent weeks, after Haryana-based Jyoti Malhotra, with whom he was also in regular the hearing on Saturday, Singh's counsel, Mohit Dhupar, claimed his client had been summoned by the Haryana Police on June 6 to join the probe into the espionage case, but he was arrested by Punjab Police. "Punjab Police might have felt that if Haryana Police arrested Singh, it would be their insult," claimed counsel also denied his client was spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). "Many people visited Pakistan multiple times. Also, Jasbir even maintained close relations with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, as alleged by the police. Among other things, DGP Yadav said Jasbir attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. The senior police official added the accused travelled to Pakistan on three occasions, including in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and came into direct contact with ISI officers. He was recruited then to carry out espionage activities within India. Concluding his statement, DGP Yadav said Jasbir attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection, following Jyoti Malhotra's arrest. Meanwhile, investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network. A report by NDTV stated that the ones who are currently facing espionage charges include 25-year-old Patiala's Khalsa College student Davendra Singh Dhillon, 24-year-old security guard in Haryana Nauman Ilahi, 28-year-old health worker from Gujarat Sahdev Singh Gohil, Arman and Tarif from Haryana, and Rajasthan government employee from Jaisalmer Shakur Khan. All the above mentioned people have been arrested on espionage charges and their links with Pakistan's ISI.
