Box Office: Sitaare Zameen Par flirts with a double digit opening day; Aamir Khan starrer eyes at big Saturday jump
The Aamir Khan-led Sitaare Zameen Par has taken a fair start at the box office in India, with the business growing from strength to strength from morning till evening. According to very early trends, the RS Prasanna-directorial is looking to collect in the range of Rs 9.50 crore to Rs 10.50 crore on the opening day, with a large chunk of business coming in from the urban centres. The top 3 national chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – are looking to collect in the range of Rs 6.75 crore nett, contributing 65 percent to the total business. The ratio could go a little lower depending on where the actuals land in the morning, but a 65 percent ratio seems apt for a film of this genre. The numbers are fair for the genre, though not so good for Aamir Khan, who has opened films in the similar genre at much higher numbers. The dynamics of business have changed in the post-Covid world, which has put limitations on the opening day of films in a rather non-commercial genre, but the positive for Sitaare Zameen Par rests in the fact that the initial reports for the film are on the positive side. The occupancy too is showing gains towards the evening and night shows, setting up the film well for spikes on Saturday and Sunday. Sitaare Zameen Par has very good advances for Saturday, as the film has already sold 40,000 tickets in PVRInox alone as on Friday at 5.30 PM, and will be looking to close with pre-sales around the 65,000 ticket mark by mid-night. Cinepolis on the other hand has sold approx. 10,000 tickets for Saturday at the same time. For those unaware, Sitaare Zameen Par had sold 38,000 tickets in PVRInox for Friday as on Thursday mid-night, and this is a jump of almost 70 percent in advance booking. The film should be aiming at a 60 to 80 percent jump on Saturday, and then consolidate with another 20 percent jump on Sunday, which would put it in a fairly good spot to register a trend of sorts on the weekdays. All eyes now on the Saturday jump.

Sitaare Zameen Par Advance Booking: Aamir Khan starrer sells 46,000 tickets in National Chains, looks at Rs 8 crore opening
Aamir Khan's much-awaited movie Sitaare Zameen Par is finally hitting cinemas in a couple of hours. The sports comedy drama, directed by RS Prasanna, recorded an average advance booking despite Khan's aggressive promotions. Sitaare Zameen Par sells 46,000 tickets in top national chains Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par sold over 46,000 tickets in the top three national chains- PVR Inox and Cinepolis- for the opening day. Of this, a significant chunk of admissions were recorded at PVR Inox, while the remaining were sold at Cinepolis. It must be noted that these are estimated figures. As Sitaare Zameen Par is an Aamir Khan movie, the advance booking doesn't justify his stardom. However, one must note that the slice-of-life sports comedy genre is not much viable in the post-pandemic times, which means the fate of Sitaare Zameen Par will depend on its word-of-mouth. Sitaare Zameen Par targets Rs 8 crore opening Looking at the advance sales and buzz around the movie, the Aamir Khan starrer is expected to open with just Rs 8 crore net. It will be one of the lowest Aamir Khan openers in recent times. Though the film is marketed as a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, it couldn't strike a chord with the audience with its promotional assets. Nevertheless, if the movie succeeds in impressing the audience, Sitaare Zameen Par will see an instant boost in its collections. Though the movie might start on a low note, it has the potential to jump over the weekend and sail through a successful theatrical run. It will be interesting to see how the sports drama performs at the box office. The movie marks the return of Aamir Khan to the screens after Laal Singh Chaddha, which was a box office debacle. Box Office: Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par takes mediocre start in advance booking, sells 7000 tickets in National Chains
Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is about to hit the cinemas. Soon after getting clearance from the Censor Board, the advance booking of the sports comedy drama opened Tuesday (June 17) late night, three days before its release date. The reports are not on the expected lines as the movie registered a mediocre start in the pre-bookings. Sitaare Zameen Par sells 7000 tickets in the top three national chains As of 3:30 PM (June 18), Sitaare Zameen Par has sold around 7000 tickets in the top three national chains- PVR Inox and Cinepolis- for the opening day. Of this, PVR Inox sold over 5000 tickets while the latter contributed by recording 2000 admissions. The advance booking doesn't seem satisfying, which should be a major concern for the makers as it eventually will affect its opening day collections. Going by the current trends, the RS Prasanna directorial has potential to clock over 50,000 admits in the top multiplex chains, before its premiere show this Friday. Sitaare Zameen Par to take an average start of Rs 9 crore to Rs 10 crore Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, the sports comedy-drama heavily depends on the initial word-of-mouth among the fans and the critics. The movie has chances to debut with Rs 9 crore to Rs 10 crore net on its opening day, depending on how spot bookings and walk-ins perform. Despite Aamir Khan 's aggressive promotional spree, Sitaare Zameen Par lacks the exciting factor which can make audiences rush to the cinemas. However, as they say content is king. If the movie succeeded in striking the right chords with the audience, the Aamir Khan movie can turn the tides and sail through a successful theatrical run. For the unversed, Sitaare Zameen Par marks the return of Mr Perfectionist after 3 years. He was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, which was a box office dud. The sports comedy-drama is slated to hit the cinemas on June 20th and is expected to fare well with a long run at the box office. Marketed as a sequel to Taare Zameen Par, the movie got clearance from CBFC with a UA-13 certificate. All eyes are now on its box office performance. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
