Dan Orlovsky makes bold prediction about Panthers QB Bryce Young
Dan Orlovsky makes bold prediction about Panthers QB Bryce Young "I would bet on Bryce Young this season.. I believe in Dave Canales and I love the addition of Tet McMillan.. This is a very good offensive line and I love the way Bryce Young bounced back last year"@danorlovsky7 #PMSLive — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) June 18, 2025 A former NFL quarterback is ready to bet on Bryce Young. ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky joined this past Wednesday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show. When asked which young quarterback he thinks will make the biggest jump in 2025, he points to Young and the support system that the Carolina Panthers have surrounded him with. Take a listen: Despite some high hopes for his first season under first-year head coach and "quarterback whisperer" Dave Canales, Young got off to a miserable start in 2024. After throwing for 245 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in a pair of blowout losses, the former No. 1 overall pick was benched for veteran Andy Dalton beginning in Week 3. Young would get his second chance in Week 8, and he didn't look back. Over the final 10 games of the campaign, he totaled 2,327 yards, 20 touchdowns and six picks while leading the Panthers to four wins. Carolina has since added more help for Young in the form of 6-foot-4, 219-pound Tetairoa McMillan, the eighth overall selection of the 2025 draft. They've also used the offseason to bring back their starting offensive line as well as few key depth pieces including Cade Mays and Brady Christensen. So if continuity is key, then Young and the Panthers will probably make Orlovsky look awfully good by the end of the year. Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content.

NBA trade rumors: The latest on a Kevin Durant deal, Knicks' coaching search and Giannis Antetokounmpo moves
NBA commissioner Adam Silver might prefer that teams don't make blockbuster trades or other league-altering types of news during the NBA Finals, while the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers compete for a championship. However, three stories continue to create buzz around the league outside of the Finals. Kevin Durant is reportedly close to being traded to the fifth team of his 17-year NBA career. The New York Knicks could be zeroing in on their next head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau. And Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the Milwaukee Bucks is still up in the air. Where do all of those stories stand as the Finals go to a Game 4? Yahoo Sports has you covered with all the biggest NBA rumors below. Durant could be on his new team by the end of this weekend, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Apparently, the list of teams close to making a deal has been reduced to three. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are the three teams submitting final offers to the Phoenix Suns. "I think a Kevin Durant trade could happen in the next few the last 24 hours the focus has been on the Rockets, the Heat, and the Minnesota Timberwolves" ~ @ShamsCharania #PMSLive — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) June 13, 2025 That appears to eliminate the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs as previously reported candidates to land Durant. As many as eight teams, including the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers, had expressed interest in a trade, Charania told "The Pat McAfee Show." Yet one of those clubs could still get back into the Durant sweepstakes as a wild card looking to make an impactful addition. If Miami is the team closest to a deal, it likely won't involve Tyler Herro or Bam Adebayo. Those two are considered "off limits," reports Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The 36-year-old scorer is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $54.7 million. The Knicks' search for a new head coach has also reportedly narrowed down to two candidates, both of whom are not currently head coaches with other NBA teams. New York initially pursued Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd and Ime Udoka of the Rockets, only to be denied permission to interview both of them. The Knicks reportedly also inquired about Atlanta Hawks coach Quin Snyder, Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls and Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, but were denied. However, there is some belief that the Knicks could take another run at one of their previous targets. New York is. now reportedly moving on to previous head coaches who were fired this season. The team has increased its focus on Mike Brown, mostly recently with the Sacramento Kings, and Taylor Jenkins, fired by the Memphis Grizzlies shortly before this season's NBA playoffs, reports The Athletic's Sam Amick. Thoughts on Taylor Jenkins or Mike Brown as the Knicks HC pick?!Today's #knicksbackpage — Knicks Fan TV 🏀🎥📺🏁 (@KnicksFanTv) June 12, 2025 Brown was fired in late December with a 13-18 record that put them 12th in the Western Conference. He is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, winning most recently in 2023. Brown also previously coached the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, compiling an overall record of 454-304. The Grizzlies fired Jenkins with nine games remaining in the regular season, after six seasons as Memphis' head coach. At the time, the Grizzlies were 44-20 and ranked fifth in the West. He had a 250-214 record as head coach after six seasons as an assistant with the Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. Antetokounmpo is currently expected to remain with the Bucks when next season begins, ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps report. General manager Jon Horst (who recently received a contract extension) and head coach Doc Rivers have presented team ownership with plans based on building the roster around the two-time NBA MVP. The belief is that the Bucks can compete for one of the top six playoff berths in the East with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers facing uncertainty. (Boston is reportedly willing to entertain offers for any player besides Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.) That's especially true if Damian Lillard returns from his torn Achilles injury by the end of next season. However, those ambitions might require Milwaukee to go over the luxury tax. Re-signing center Brook Lopez and forward Bobby Portis would very likely put the Bucks in that position, in addition to signing a point guard who could replace Lillard for most of the season. The possibility remains that ownership could pass on whatever plan Horst and Rivers present, and Antetokounmpo could formally request a trade if no plan for a successful future appears to be in place. Yet the Bucks reportedly don't want to trade him unless he actually asks to be dealt.

NBA Trade Rumors Roundup: Kevin Durant trade could happen soon, Clippers in the mix
With the NBA Draft less than two weeks away, the trade rumor mill is in full swing, with Kevin Durant at the heart of it. Here are some of the latest rumors. Durant trade coming in 'days?' Don't be so sure. Things are moving quickly on the Kevin Durant trade front, with a real sense in league circles that it will get done before — or at — the NBA draft on June 25. Friday, ESPN's Shams Charania took that a step further on the Pat McAfee Show and said it could happen in the next few days "I think a Kevin Durant trade could happen in the next few days.. In the last 24 hours the focus has been on the Rockets, the Heat, and the Minnesota Timberwolves" ~ @ShamsCharania #PMSLive You know what really pisses off Adam Silver and the NBA league office? When a team makes a big trade that upstages the NBA Finals. The league has made a concerted effort in recent years to refocus games on the court, rather than on the rumor mill and trade speculation. If a Kevin Durant trade were to happen in the coming days, it would completely upstage the Oklahoma City vs. Indiana NBA Finals. The smart money is on no trade coming together, or even being leaked, before the NBA Finals end. Which, if it goes seven games (a genuine possibility), would take us to three days before the 2025 NBA Draft. Clippers interested in Kevin Durant The expectation had been that the Clippers would extend James Harden this summer, re-sign Norman Powell, and essentially run it back with a 50-win team. Instead, they may make a run at Kevin Durant, with ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps calling the Clippers a 'team to watch' in the Durant sweepstakes. It would take a third team (or more) to make the math work, but the Clippers could send depth to Phoenix in a trade offer centered around a sign-and-trade of Norman Powell, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and more, plus a first-round pick or two. We can assume that Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac are off-limits in a trade, but everyone else would be on the table. That may not be the haul the Suns were hoping for, but the other teams thought in the running — the Timberwolves, Rockets, Spurs and Heat — are not making overwhelming offers either. Which brings us to... What Phoenix wants for Durant vs. reality Days after Mat Ishbia purchased the Phoenix Suns from Robert Sarver, the team made a bold move to acquire Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. It gave up a lot to get the future Hall of Fame: • Mikal Bridges • Cam Johnson • Jay Crowder • Four first-round picks • 2028 pick swap The Suns want a package something close to that in return for Durant. I want to take a break from writing this story to drive my Maserati GranTurismo around town. Reality is going to disappoint both of us. ESPN's Windhorst and Bontemps put it this way: Multiple league sources said they were skeptical that the price for Durant in a trade would get to a place where Phoenix would be satisfied with it. My expectation for the Suns' return in a KD trade is a couple of rotation players to match salary (but nobody likely as good as Bridges), a young player with some potential, and one or two first-round picks (depending on how good they are perceived to be). We'll see what comes out of this, but it is very likely a trade made before the draft or on draft night. No Antetokounmpo trade talks The latest update on the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade front is that there is no update. Antetokounmpo was focused on his trip to South America, slipping and falling all over courts there, and has not requested a trade. Giannis slipped trying to dunk 😳 (via goatbr/IG) The expectation in league circles now is that Antetokounmpo will not request a trade, which is why the focus of teams has shifted to Durant and others. Maybe that changes after Antetokounmpo surveys the fallout from a summer of trades and free agency, but more than likely Antetokounmpo is a Buck at the start of next season. Pelicans trade up for Ace Bailey? The Pelicans are not going to trade Zion Williamson this offseason, primarily because the return wouldn't be nearly what they are seeking. That doesn't mean new head of basketball operations in the Big Easy, Joe Dumars, is looking to build around Zion long-term. There are a lot of rumors that he wants to move up in the draft, specifically to target Rutgers wing Ace Bailey. Kevin O'Connor lays it out at Yahoo Sports. League sources continue to cite the Pelicans as a team aggressively looking to move up in the draft, with most front-office executives believing Bailey is the target of new general manager Joe Dumars. That's why we're mocking a trade here for this week's mock, with Herb Jones and a low-value first in 2026 via the Pacers to move up four spots. There is pushback from New Orleans that they would give up Herb Jones in a trade like this, which is the correct call — trading Jones could well be a Dyson Daniels kind of mistake. That said, whatever form the trade might take, the idea of Dumars trading up to get Bailey and taking a swing with the high-ceiling wing makes some sense. Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro not available The Miami Heat are looking to upgrade — this is not a tear-it-down-and-rebuild-it kind of franchise — but in doing so, both Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are not available, reports Ira Winderman at the Sun Sentinel. That's not a surprise to anyone, but it's nice to have it on the record. Could Chris Paul return to the Clippers? In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, another future Hall of Famer, Chris Paul, talked about being away from his children and family, who live in Los Angeles, while he played in Oklahoma City, Phoenix, the Bay Area with Golden State, and then San Antonio. 'My son just turned 16. My daughter's 12. The past six seasons I have lived without them. I've been away from them for the last six years. That's the conversation. I wanna be dad.' Nobody can blame him for wanting to come back to Los Angeles. While there is poetic justice in him coming to the Lakers so many years after David Stern shot down his trade there for 'basketball reasons,' the Lakers aren't hurting for ball handlers (although LeBron James and CP3 have always been close, so...). The Clippers need a backup point guard who can run the show when James Harden is off the court. Do we have a match? Just something to watch.

NFL Insider Speaks on Terry McLaurin's Holdout
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. As mandatory minicamps continue, one of the biggest stories across the NFL is playing holding out for business reasons. Among the teams currently at odds with one of their key players is the Washington Commanders. This season, wide receiver Terry McLaurin finds himself in the final year of his contract. Instead of hitting the open market, he is in search of a new deal that will keep him in Washington for the foreseeable future. However, the two sides have been able to agree on terms. Because of this, McLaurin has continued to be away from the Commanders until he and the front office work things out from the business side of things. On Thursday, ESPN's senior NFL insider Adam Schefter was a guest on "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss topics across the league. He weighed in on numerous players holding out for new contracts, including McLaurin. Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders Photo by/Newsweek/Getty Images When it comes to working things out, Schefter cited that the Commanders are confident the situation will resolve itself before the season gets underway. However, he also brought up that the star receiver is displeased with how negotiations have gone thus far. "I think the team feels like it's going to get something done with Terry McLaurin," Schefter said. "I think Terry McLaurin clearly is frustrated with where talks are at because not only did he not show up for the mandatory minicamp, but he hasn't participated in any of the team's offseason activities. He has been a no-show for that." "I think the Commanders feel like they're gonna get a deal done with Terry McLaurin.. I know that Terry McLaurin is very frustrated with where talks are at.. He hasn't participated in any of the offseason activities" ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) June 12, 2025 One thing the Commanders have going for them is that they've been in this situation before. McLaurin pulled a similar stunt back in the summer of 2022 for similar reasons. The final result was he and the Commanders agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth just over $68 million. Since being drafted by the Commanders back in 2019, McLaurin has become a foundational piece for the franchise. He's been one of the more consistent wideouts in the NFL, racking up at least 1,000 yards in each of the last five seasons. McLaurin also built an instant connection with new quarterback Jayden Daniels, catching a career-high 13 touchdowns in 2024. Fresh off appearing in the NFC Championship game, the Commanders will look to remain in the title hunt in 2025. They've committed to winning now, bringing in upgrades like Deebo Samuel in the offseason. However, if Washington is going to operate at its best, they'll need a locked in McLaurin. Still with lots of time before the regular season gets underway, the Commanders aren't in a rush to agree on a new deal with McLaurin. That said, it's a situation they'll certainly want to rectify sooner rather than later.
