Ramadoss should reject BJP and ‘politics of hate', promote peace between the Vanniyars and the Dalits, says VCK MP

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi general secretary and Villupuram MP D. Ravikumar has urged PMK founder S. Ramadoss to reject the BJP and the 'politics of hate' to protect peace and promote development in northern districts of Tamil Nadu, where the Vanniyars and the Scheduled Castes live in large numbers. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Ravikumar said his appeal to Dr. Ramadoss — which came after the PMK founder spoke fondly of VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan in an interview — was born out of the concern that Dr. Ramadoss and the PMK should not 'inadvertently' aid the growth of the BJP in Tamil Nadu. 'The Vanniyars and the Scheduled Castes are two largest communities in the northern districts. If Dr. Ramadoss rejects the BJP, the national party would find it impossible to form a government in the State. It cannot win [in elections] without taking root in the northern districts,' he said. While Mr. Thirumavalavan had repeatedly rejected any alliance with the PMK or the BJP, Mr. Ravikumar said his appeal to Dr. Ramadoss should not be seen in the context of the 2026 Assembly election, but in the larger context of ensuring peace and calm in society. Mr. Ravikumar said Dr. Ramadoss's rejection of hate politics against the Scheduled Castes would pave the way for fraternity and peace among the Vanniyars and the Scheduled Castes in the villages. 'If the PMK ends the politics of hate against the Scheduled Castes, the atrocities against the Scheduled Castes will come down. Those who cause trouble to the Scheduled Castes in villages do so because of the shade of protection given by the PMK,' he said. 'Even in the Melpathi temple issue, it was the PMK's advocate, K. Balu, who spoke in support of the social exclusion of the Scheduled Castes from the temple. If the PMK lets go of this kind of politics, the atrocities will come down automatically,' he felt. The Villupuram MP added that the 'Vanniyar community has a proud history of playing a leading role in progressive politics in the State — it has been an important part of the Dravidian Movement and the Left politics. The Vanniyars do not harbour as much hate against the Scheduled Castes as other communities in the southern districts. If Dr. Ramadoss softens his stance, the Scheduled Castes in the northern districts can rest easy, and this will result in the overall development of the region.'

Get well soon! PMK President Anbumani on party veteran GK Mani's hospitalisation

DHARMAPURI: A General Committee meeting of the PMK held in Dharmapuri on Thursday passed over 17 resolutions, including implementation of the Cauvery Surplus Water Scheme, improvement of rural roads, and implementation of the pending water management scheme, among other resolutions. PMK President Dr Anbumani Ramadoss who spoke at the meeting took a jibe at party veteran GK Mani who has been hospitalised amid speculation that he did so to avoid the party meeting. "Has the honorary president of the party come to the meeting? In the morning, we prayed for his well-being in Salem. It seems it will take a few days. I guess our prayers are not enough. I sincerely wish him and others good health," Anbumani remarked. Referring to the recent spat with party founder and his father S Ramadoss over control of the party, Anbumani further said, "My commitment is to the party and its cadre. This is all I can say at this time. There are many burdens that I cannot share". Earlier in the day Anbumani attended a district general body meeting of the party in Salem. As reported earlier PMK's two MLAs --its Assembly floor leader GK Mani and R Arul -- were admitted to separate hospitals in Chennai on June 18 owing to 'sudden' illness. It is suspected the two did so to avoid attending Thursday's district general council meetings called by Anbumani.

Will work to rout DMK from Salem: PMK Working President Anbumani

COIMBATORE: PMK 'working' president Anbumani Ramadoss urged party workers to work hard to defeat the DMK in Salem district. Speaking at the district general council meeting of the party in Salem on Thursday, Ramadoss said Chief Minister MK Stalin has betrayed the Vanniyar community by not implementing the 10.5% reservation. He vowed that the PMK would work to defeat the DMK by ensuring the Dravidian party gets no assembly seats in the district. 'I am confident that the Vanniyar community as a whole would not vote for the DMK in the upcoming assembly election. This has caused fear in the DMK. The chief minister has betrayed the trust by saying that he will give internal reservation to the Vanniyar community for four years. "He has been repeatedly lying that internal reservation can be given only after the central government conducts a caste-wise census,' Anbumani said. 'In the last assembly election, the DMK won only one seat in Salem. They should not win a single seat in the upcoming poll. Time has come to send the DMK government home,' he added. Targeting the CM, Anbumani further said, 'In states like Bihar and Odisha, the state government has completed the caste survey. The Karnataka government has announced that the exercise will be conducted again. But the chief minsiter says he has no authority (to do so).' In a subtle reference to the rift within his party, Anbumani said allegations against him are 100% false.

Ramadoss dubs son's remarks on DMK a blatant lie

C hennai: PMK founder S Ramadoss continued to attack his son and PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss dismissing his claim that the DMK was responsible for their ongoing feud as false. "It's a blatant lie," Ramadoss told reporters in Chennai on Thursday. Anbumani had alleged that DMK was creating the rift in PMK, scared of its strength. Ramadoss was also non-committal when reporters asked him in Chennai on Thursday whether he would forgive Anbumani since his son had publicly apologized. He recited a Tamil film song, 'Poga poga therium,' meaning his response to Anbumani's apology will be known in the coming days. Ramadoss also defended two of his party MLAs, G K Mani and R Arul from Salem, who got themselves admitted to hospitals a day before Anbumani held a meeting in Salem district. There were murmurs of discontent among Anbumani supporters that the two were trying to skip the meeting. But Ramadoss said it could be a coincidence that the duo fell sick at the same time of the Salem meeting. Meanwhile, Anbumani said the charges levelled against him by Ramadoss were baseless. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Addressing the party functionaries in Salem, he dubbed the charges as '100 % lie'. Anbumani said he would provide a proper explanation for the allegations soon. Anbumani also made a veiled attack on Arul and G K Mani for getting hospitalised ahead of the meeting he convened. "Let us pray for their speedy physical and mental recovery," he said, sparking a round of applause from the cadres. Incidentally, Arul, who was admitted at Omandurar govt super specialty hospital, got discharged on Thursday. "I have recovered," he told reporters as he walked out of the hospital.

PMK feud: Ramadoss dismisses Anbumani's claim of DMK involvement

PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday dismissed his son Anumani Ramadoss' claim that the ruling DMK was responsible for the ongoing intra-party tussle, terming it 'utter lies'. At the PMK's general council meeting in Kancheepuram, Dr. Anbumani had claimed that the DMK wanted to weaken the PMK, and that the ruling party and 'conspirators within' were responsible for the ongoing dispute between him and Dr. Ramadoss. When asked whether he would accept Dr. Anbumani's apology, Dr. Ramadoss sang a Tamil song, hinting that the answer would be revealed in the coming days.
