Oumar Camara 'agrees' Rangers transfer as PSG starlet pens long term Ibrox deal for one main reason
Oumar Camara will sign for Rangers this summer, according to a report. RMC Sport claim that the 18-year old right winger will put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Ibrox when his contract at PSG expires this summer. Advertisement The Ligue 1 champions were keen to hang on to Camara, but it's claimed the chance to potentially sample the Champions League or Europe League with the Light Blues helped swing things in their favour. It's likely Camara will begin life in Govan with the Gers B team, although there is a chance he could make the jump up to first team level before too long. Advertisement That will depend on how he impresses the new manager, whoever that may be. Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti remains in the frame but will join up with Brazil as part of his dad's backroom team for next month's World Cup qualifiers. However, CEO Patrick Stewart is also considering British names with Sean Dyche, Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin all possibilities. Rangers-linked PSG talent completes move to Portuguese club
The Ibrox club were linked with a move for the 18-year-old earlier this summer. Indeed, Rangers were said to have been monitoring the Camara, with a view to making him an offer to swap Paris for Glasgow. Read more: Their interest soon cooled, though, per L'Equipe, with the club's change in ownership meaning he was no longer a target. Camara has now joined Vitoria Guimaraes, who finished sixth in the Portuguese top flight last season. He has penned a four-year deal with the club. The teenager played 28 times for PSG's under-19s last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting five. An official Guimaraes statement read: "Oumar Camara has headed to Portugal to join Les Conquistadores just days after winning the French Under-19 title, captaining his side to the trophy and scoring the decisive goal in the 80th minute. "The young player, who hails from Paris, completed his youth training at Paris Saint-Germain and is a French international at Under-17 and Under-18 levels. "Known for his versatility in the front line and his attacking talent, Oumar Camara stands out for his leadership skills and is excited about integrating into a new country and a professional senior team."

Glasgow sees highest referrals to youth trauma service SAFE
The SAFE Project, run by child and youth care charity Kibble, offers support to children and families affected by crime, including those who have witnessed violence or abuse. Since launching in 2021, SAFE has seen referrals triple, with 46 per cent coming from Glasgow. Kibble said the high number of referrals in Glasgow highlights the link between crime, social inequality, and the need for trauma-informed services. Read more: 'We never gave up': Family's heartbreaking tribute as body of missing teen found Loads of new homes to be built on site of destroyed Glasgow tower blocks Rangers make decision on Oumar Camara as Andrew Cavenagh takeover has impact Inverclyde and South Lanarkshire accounted for 24 per cent of referrals, followed by Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire. Dan Johnson, executive director and forensic psychologist at Kibble, said: "The trauma caused by crime in childhood can affect every part of a young person's life, from relationships and learning to their long-term mental health. "The SAFE Project is designed to wrap around the whole family, offering therapy, advocacy and practical support when it's needed most. "What we're seeing is a level of unmet need that's both sobering and deeply motivating. "We're proud that SAFE is already changing lives and that families from Glasgow to the Borders are finding their way to us." To date, the project has reached more than 400 young people and their families across 22 local authority areas in Scotland. Earlier this year, the charity secured funding from the Scottish Government's Victim-Centred Approach Fund to continue the SAFE Project into 2025/26, with indicative support for 2026/27. Mr Johnson said: "Supporting young people affected by crime isn't the responsibility of one service alone, instead it takes a network of professionals working together. "That's why a core part of SAFE is helping educators, social workers and police navigate the impact of trauma. "By equipping those on the frontline with psychological insight and practical advice, we're building a more joined-up, trauma-informed system that can respond more effectively and compassionately to the needs of young victims and witnesses."

Rangers 'drop' transfer interest in Oumar Camara as one key factor sees pursuit of PSG teenager fade
Reports in France last month had claimed that the teenager was set to sign for Gers on a free transfer Rangers are no longer pursuing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain starlet Oumar Camara - according to a report. Having got the managerial appointment of Russell Martin over the line, Gers are now ramping up their recruitment drive, with Record Sport revealing that talks are ongoing with Leicester City centre back Conor Coady and Maccabi Tel Aviv frontman Dor Turgeman. Several other players have also been linked with Martin said to be keen on a reunion with Southampton midfielder Flynn Downes, who he signed for the Saints from West Ham 12 months ago. The French teen - who also has citizenship in Mali - has impressed for the Paris giants' academy team and can play on either flank. He has won three caps for his country at U18 level, featuring against the youth teams of England, Switzerland and Portugal. But remarkably, leading French outlet L'Equipe now report that Gers have done a U-turn on their interest in the talented youngster. They claim that the Light Blues were interested in Camara prior to Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises takeover at Ibrox but that the change in ownership now means that the winger is no longer a transfer target. The report goes onto state that Camara had been sold on the idea of moving to Ibrox when contact was initially instigated. Camara is set to become a free agent on June 30 when his contract in the French capital expires. Champions League winners' PSG have reportedly offered the player a professional contract but L'Equipe also claim that Camara has made his mind up to seek his fortune elsewhere. The striker/winger is said to be signing a long-term deal in Scotland despite being offered a contract by PSG. With seven goals and four assists this season the attacker has been won over by 'the Rangers project' and a chance at senior European football, according to the journalist. Attacking reinforcement could be an important area for the Gers in the near future. Cyriel Dessers has drawn criticism for his performances even despite finishing the league season today as top scorer with 18 goals. And on top of that, media reports indicate French team Strasbourg want to acquire 22-year-old Moroccan Hamza Igamane. A big season lies ahead at Ibrox as the 49ers takeover looms while rivals Celtic celebrate a fourth successive league title, and possibly another treble with the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen taking place next weekend. Interim boss Barry Ferguson's future still remains up in the air as the favourite of bookies to be permanent manager next campaign is once again Steven Gerrard. Meanwhile Ferguson's final game (for now at least) was marred with VAR drama. Nico Raskin appeared to get the ball over the goal line but nothing was awarded. The interim gaffer said: "I've got to be careful what I say. I don't want to get myself into trouble. "But that is baffling. "I seen it when it happened, I seen it again at half-time and I seen it again at the end of the game. What's the point?" "The fourth official was brand new but the referee? Not interested. "I've seen it all season with bad decisions. Not just with Rangers but with other teams. "But that today was just mind blowing."
