OOA concludes sport management course
MUSCAT: The Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) concluded on Wednesday its specialised course titled 'Contemporary Trends in Sports Management', held over three days from May 26 to 28, at the Oman Olympic Committee headquarters.
As many as 30 participants were brought together from various sports institutions, federations and committees, including members from the Omani Committee for the Deaf Sports, in a move that reflects the Academy's commitment to inclusive and comprehensive training.
The course aimed to empower national sports cadres with modern management concepts in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 and the national sports strategy.

The three days course Led by Dr Abdulrahim bin Muslim al Darwishi, Associate Professor of Sports Management and Sports Policy at Sultan Qaboos University, the programme covered topics such as contemporary administrative trends, international models in Olympic success and the integration between elite performance and community-based sports.
The concluding day featured an open panel discussion moderated by Dr Ishaq bin Ahmed al Balushi, Assistant Director of the Oman Olympic Academy. Panelists included Dr Al Darwishi, former national football team manager Maqbool bin Mohammed al Balushi, and former national athletics team member Buthaina bint Eid al Yaqubiyah.

Dr Al Balushi opened the session with a visual presentation, highlighting the role of sports institutions in promoting public health, social development and economic growth through sports and sports tourism, aligned with Oman's national vision. The panel explored the impact of administrative environments on athletic performance, the relationship between organisational structure and sports achievements and the psychological preparation of athletes at international competitions.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their perspectives and raising inquiries that added practical depth to the session.
The course concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, reflecting a positive spirit and a shared aspiration for more advanced programmes. This initiative is part of the Oman Olympic Academy's ongoing strategy to qualify national talent and foster leadership in sports management.
