Metallica's Hit Charts For The First Time In Almost 25 Years
Metallica's 'I Disappear' returns to the U.K.'s Official Physical Singles chart at No. 91, over 20 ... More years after it last appeared. American heavy metal band Metallica attend the 9th Annual MTV Movie Awards at Sony Studios in Los Angeles, California, 3rd June 2000. L - R: James Hetfield, Jason Newsted, Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich. (Photo by) Metallica typically appears on charts in Western markets with a handful of popular albums, as well as some of its most beloved singles, which also help power the collections. A handful of hugely beloved tracks keep the band on weekly rankings, but from time to time, other, lesser-known songs (but ones which may have still become smashes for a while) manage to return as well. This week, a decades-old Metallica cut breaks back onto one ranking in the United Kingdom, returning for the first time in a long while. "I Disappear" is back on the Official Physical Singles chart this frame. The track reenters the list of the bestselling songs on any physical format — such as CD, cassette, or specially released vinyl — at No. 91. "I Disappear" has only spent four weeks in total on the Official Physical Singles chart, and it's been nearly a quarter-century since it last appeared. The song debuted on the list at No. 35 in mid-August 2000. It then fell to No. 45, then No. 70, and by September of that year, it was gone. The track hasn't been seen on this ranking since. Metallica wrote and recorded "I Disappear" for the Mission: Impossible II soundtrack. That album arrived in May 2000, with "I Disappear" serving as the lead single. The tune became a hit around the world, including in the U.K., where it peaked at No. 35 on the Official Singles chart. It narrowly missed ruling the Official Rock & Metal Singles ranking, instead stalling at No. 2. Metallica currently claims three hit songs in the U.K. As "I Disappear" returns to the Official Physical Singles chart, "Enter Sandman" and "Nothing Else Matters" continue to hold on to spots on the Official Rock & Metal Singles ranking. The former steps up one spot to No. 6, while the latter dips five spaces to No. 39. Both tracks have already spent years on this tally, and may rack up several more years, as they rarely vanish. Meanwhile, the group's self-titled effort — often referred to simply as The Black Album — recently surpassed 1,000 weeks on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, where it remains to this day.

Boy band fans devastated after 90s group wiped out - with survivor's tribute
LFO were a huge 90s boy band – but the group was struck with tragedy when three members all died young. Now the remaining star is performing as a tribute to the friends he's lost LFO may not have hit the heights of fame like 'NSYNC or Backstreet Boys, but back in the day their track Summer Girls had every teen humming along. The hopeful boy band shot their cheery music video at New York's Coney Island amusement park's beach and pier back in 1999. Litttle did they know of the horrific fate that awaited, bringing LFO to an end as three of its four members died. Yet an astonishing 26 years later, the band's sole survivor is performing again in memory of the friends he lost. Brad Fischetti, now 49, has been singing with The LFO Story, recently wowing crowds in Celebration, Florida, with a special gig. Formed in 1995 after Brad and Rich Cronin connected with Brian 'Brizz' Gillis in New Bedford, Massachusetts, LFO struggled initially. Their fortunes turned when Brizz departed in 1999, and Devin Lima's joining led to their chart-topping success, with Summer Girls reaching No 1 in the US and No 16 on the UK Official Singles Chart. LFO's song was packed full of 80s and 90s references including Cherry Coke, actors Macaulay Culkin, Kevin Bacon and Michael J. Fox, their fellow boy band New Kids On The Block, and even Abercrombie & Fitch. The band seemed destined for stardom as they clinched the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award for Favourite Group of the Year in 2000, performed over 230 gigs – including opening for pop sensation Britney Spears – and even unleashed their own line of dolls in 2001. However, the fickle tides of music trends meant they had a disappointing second album, prompting them to part ways in 2002. Rich Cronin then faced a fierce battle with leukaemia but emerged victorious post-treatment, expressing gratitude for his charmed life in showbiz: "I am truly thankful for the success I had," and adding wistfully, "And if it happens again, that'd be really nice. I'm just that same guy writing pop songs to make people happy. And I still only like girls in Abercrombie and Fitch." In an inspiring turn, LFO got back together in 2009, hitting the road with their music. But all was not well, as Rich's health waned again, with his band mates rallying round him reminiscent of UK sensation The Wanted's support for Tom Parker amidst his own cancer battle. Reflecting on their renewed bond in the shadow of adversity, Brad shared in 2010, "He was so happy. We really became soulmates. Devin and I both realised how much we loved him, despite the differences we had in the past." Despite Rich's valiant battle with his illness, he tragically passed away in Boston in September 2010 at the age of 36. Seven years later, in July 2017, Brad and Devin released a fresh LFO track – their first in a whopping 15 years. They vowed to continue their musical journey and always remember Rich. Yet just three months on, more heartbreaking news arrived. This time it was Devin who received a devastating blow. He discovered he had an extremely rare form of cancer and nderwent surgery to remove a tumour the size of a football from his stomach, as well as one of his kidneys. Before his hospital admission, Devin said that he didn't believe it was a type of cancer and simply wanted it removed from his body. Although his surgery appeared successful, a year later, Devin sadly succumbed to his illness at 41 years old, leaving behind his girlfriend and six children. And in another shocking turn of events, original LFO member Brizz also passed away in March 2023, at just 48. His family did not disclose the cause of his death. Posting on Instagram earlier this month, Brad Fischetti honoured his bandmates after his LFO Story gig, saying: "We honored the boys in a big way. The LFO Story show last week was beautiful and epic. Thank you for the love and support. Big thanks to the all of who made it possible and to @ for hosting us. The biggest thanks to Rich and Devin for leaving a beautiful legacy behind. We will nurture it and honor you for as long as the people will allow us to." Fans have been swift to post their broken-hearted responses, with one saying: "Devin and Rich are there in spirit and are proud of you @thereallfo. Thank you to Trevor for helping to honor Devin and Rich," while another commented: "Those guys are extremely missed." A third simply said: ""We miss u Rich & Devin."

Rosé's Latest Single Launches As Low As Possible
Rosé recently released a new single, and while that's usually cause for celebration and a huge debut on charts globally, the cut hasn't been promoted (at least not heavily) as her next focus track. The Blackpink superstar still appears to be concentrating on 'Apt.,' her Bruno Mars collaboration, which brought her to the highest reaches on rankings around the world in late 2024 and continues to dominate to this day. The singer doubles up on several important rankings in the United Kingdom this week as her latest offering arrives. But on one tally, it brings the singer to a new career low. "Messy" just barely manages to reach the Official Singles chart, the list of the most consumed songs throughout the U.K., which blends both sales and streaming activity. The tune, which was written and recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming film F1, opens at No. 100, landing in absolute last place. "Messy" easily stands out as Rosé's lowest-charting tune on the Official Singles chart. That makes sense, since a track can't appear any lower and still find space on the roster. That distinction previously belonged to "Number One Girl," one of the singles taken from her solo album Rosie. That cut peaked at No. 84, where it debuted in late 2024. "Messy" performs much better when looking at pure purchases. The track launches inside the top 40 on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts, entering at Nos. 28 and 29, respectively. Rosé earns her fifth win on the Official Singles chart, but only narrowly, as "Messy" arrives. She has now collected one more smash – an even half-dozen – on both of the sales tallies. On all three rankings where "Messy" debuts, 'Apt.' outperforms it. The track is still present at No. 26 on the Official Singles chart and appears at No. 13 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads lists. Amazingly, even after 30 frames on all of those rosters, it continues to perform better than Rosé's newer tune. That's likely due not just to continued promotion, but also a general love from the public for the collaboration.
