Sofia Richie-Grainge Just Debuted Her Shortest Haircut – And It's The Chicest Summer Bob

Ever the arbiter of quiet luxury fashion, Sofia Richie-Grainge just extended her eternally timeless style to a new hairstyle. Debuting her shortest hairstyle to date, the model eschewed her signature long lengths and the slicked-back chignon for which she is now synonymous for an equally chic, yet uncharacteristically short, hairstyle. During a particularly aesthetically-pleasing sojourn in the South of France, Grainge took to Instagram to reveal what she describes herself as the 'French bob'. A far cry away from the uncut, messy bobs that have been dominating of late, Grainge's sleek soft bob is the most sophisticated of short summer haircuts, defined by soft ends and subtle texture. FIND OUT MORE ON ELLE COLLECTIVECelebrity hairstylist George Curran was behind Grainge's new French bob, who created the chin-grazing, face-framing cut for her holiday; the hairstyle itself sits just above the jawline and it appears as though Curran has cut subtle layers that curve slightly inwards to create soft movement. The result is relaxed, refined and effortless, and embodies timeless French style to precision. Scroll Instagram and you'll see that many different interpretations of the French bob are taking shape right now, but Grainge's lends itself to a new trend coined the Parisian bob. 'Chic, nonchalant, and irresistibly cool, the Parisian Bob is the new evolution of the classic French bob,' shares hairdresser, Melissa Timperly. 'It's cut to graze the jawline with soft texture, and strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and effortless charm,' she adds. If you're looking to emulate Grainge's cut, hairstylist Luke Benson suggests 'asking your stylist for a bob haircut with soft, internal layering and a natural finish.' To style, he says to 'work a little Keune Style Salt Mousse into damp hair and let it air dry or diffuse for that effortless wave and volume.' The French bob also pairs perfectly with curtain bangs. 'With a subtle fringe or face-framing ends, this style flatters the bone structure best worn tousled; it's the ultimate haircut for those who want to look effortlessly polished with minimal styling,' adds Timperly. Whether you opt for a simple soft French bob or add choppy layers and a fringe, there's no denying the appeal of a shorter crop as soaring temps continue to take hold – and Grainge has undoubtedly made a very strong case for adopting a French bob in the peak-summer months. June 12 South Africa (Kenilworth) form analysis

Race 1 (1,000m) (2) MARKETA ran a lovely race behind Inside Voice at Kenilworth on May 25. This does not look to be the strongest maiden juvenile plate. Good winning chance. (4) SPIRIT was gelded on April 29. He ran some fair races behind nice horses. Include him in all bets. (3) DAY IN DAY OUT was gelded on April 22. He was very disappointing last time behind Green Planet. Can bounce back. (9) THE ROARING ROCK ran a decent race behind Churchillian on May 6. Watch him closely. Race 2 (1,200m) (4) MATCH THAT ran an absolute cracker in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery. On her best form, she will be very hard to beat. (2) PARALEGAL ran just under five lengths behind She's My World at Kenilworth on May 4. Brevan Plaatjies takes off 2.5kg. Good place chance. (3) SPORTS FAN won a good race in PE on May 9. If she can build on that last run, and she travels well from PE to Cape Town, she could certainly earn some money. (9) PANJANDRUM is capable of earning money. Race 3 (1,200m) (11) FUTURE FREE finished like a train on debut to run third behind Rhydian. With further improvement back at home, he will take some beating. (10) PALANCAR ran second in the same race as Future Free on May 13. On his last run, he will have a good each-way chance. (16) AFRICAN MEMOIR ran fourth behind the talented Three Tigers, beaten just over three lengths. Watch him closely. (13) KANAAL SKATER disappointed terribly in his last start behind Follow Your Heart. He is much better than that. Race 4 (1,200m) (2) CLAIR DE LUNE made up good ground late behind Rikkitikkitavi on May 4. Gavin Lerena has been booked to ride. Good chance. (15) RED TAFFETY made headway from her first start into her second start. Each-way chance. (3) HERITAGE RIDGE was badly inconvenienced from the 200m mark last start. With a clear passage, she can certainly finish in the money. (8) MISS WILLIAM was very disappointing in her last start over 1,400m. She is much better than that. Drop in trip to 1,200m suits. Race 5 (1,500m) (2) BEACH QUEEN was very disappointing in her last start. Muzi Yeni gets the ride back. From a good draw, she will go very close. (1) OCOTILLO ran a great race behind Supreme Fate on May 6. No excuses from a good draw. (4) LADY VERITAS ran a fair race on debut behind Take It As Red. There is no doubt she will improve from that run. (9) KISSES showed massive improvement in her last start, when tested over some ground. If she can build on that, she could sneak into the places. Race 6 (1,800m) (4) STRAWBERRY THIEF quickened up like a smart filly at Kenilworth on May 27. She looks extremely progressive, and will take a lot of beating again. (3) LICKETY SPLIT should be cherry-ripe for this Class 4 event. She gets a nice pull in the weights with last-start victor Strawberry Thief. Go close. (6) LAVENDER BAY always tries hard, her form is rock solid. Good each-way chance again. (5) TAP SHOES finished just under three lengths behind the winner last time. On her best form, she could sneak into the places. Race 7 (1,600m) (3) SUGAR MOUNTAIN won super impressively on May 6. Classy, he will take a lot of beating again. (5) MAGIC VERSE ran a terrific race in the Listed Pocket Power Stakes on May 25. If he can bring that form to the races again, he will be right there in the finish. (8) SEEKING THE STARS gets blinkers on and he steps up in trip to 1,600m. If he stays the trip, he can finish among the places. (4) MUCHO DINERO never raised a gallop in his last start. He can bounce back. Watch him closely. Race 8 (1,200m) (9) DANCE VARIETY needed his last run in the Grade 3 Champagne Stakes. If he has made the necessary improvement back at home, he will take a lot of beating. (5) KAIBOY never runs a bad race. He is packed with ability, and Andrew Fortune now gets the ride. He will be flying at them late. (4) ARCTIC WIZARD is a lovely horse with a magnificent action. Yeni knows him well. With no weight on the back, he must be respected. (10) DUMBLEDORE won a gutsy race last time. He can certainly run a place on his best form. Race 9 (1,200m) (6) SUN DAZED had absolutely no luck in running on April 16. If he gets some luck in running, he will be hard to beat. (3) LOVERS LANE needed the run slightly from a small break last time. If he can build on that performance, he could certainly trouble them all in the finish. (1) MONT LOISIR drops back in trip to 1,200m. He must be respected, Fourie knows him well. (9) GRAVITY made up a lot of ground to win a good race on May 4. Plaatjies takes off 2.5kg, which certainly helps. Race 10 (1,000m) (7) PINK PIGEON ran a cracking second behind Babelicious on May 21. Should be cherry ripe for this race. On her best form, she will take a lot of beating. (5) PEACE OF MIND did not get to the front last time, and had some traffic problems up the lane. If she can lead, she will be hard to fetch. (8) GOLDEN TATJANA's form of late is much better. She could finish in the money at a decent price. (2) THE CHARLESTON is much better than her recent form. Resuming. She can sneak in for a place.

‘It's a safe place': Central Florida sports leagues embrace LGBTQ+ community

The cheers echoed through the halls of Dover Shores Community Center in Orlando on Thursday. It was the final game of the season for the players at the OUT Sports League. 'I just wanted to have a place where I could play with some of my friends some kickball and to have a safe place with the LGBTQ+ community,' said John Teixeira, who founded OUT in 2018. 'Now that it's grown, it's extraordinary. We have, in any given season, 1500 players. We're running 10 different sports.' Advertisement Practicing sports or attending sporting events is one of the easiest ways people can connect and socialize. For members of the LGBTQ+ community, that's even more important. Over the years, LGBQT+ sports groups have been offering a safe space for hundreds of people across Central Florida, and they have had great impact on the community. 'It usually puts a tear in my eye. Honestly, it really means a lot that it means so much to them, especially given the political landscape in Florida. A lot of players feel like they need connections. They need to make friends,' Teixeira said. As much as 80% of spectators and athletes have witnessed anti-LGBT+ attitudes during sporting events, according to the Human Rights Campaign – but that does not seem to be a problem among members and spectators of the OUT games. Advertisement 'Community-centered environment. I would say there's a lot of mutual support, not only like on your team but from a lot of different teams. And it's really a really, really cool experience to be part of,' said Ryan Chabot, who plays on the volleyball team. OUT Sports is not the only league in town, however. Central Florida Softball League has been around for almost 30 years. 'I never felt fully included in a sports space. And then when I found the Central Florida Softball League,' said Bobby Agagnina, the Commissioner for Central Florida Softball League. 'Then I came out here to the fields and saw people having a great time being themselves.' The softball league is a nonprofit – so the money they raise from memberships goes back to the community. Advertisement 'Not only are we having a welcoming, safe space here with like great softball on the field, but we also want to make sure that we're keeping everybody safe and supported here at home,' said Agagnina. Together, both leagues have thousands of players showing their pride on and off the courts. 'Pride, to me, is just being unembarrassed and unashamed about who you are, living your true life and your true self, and being able to be around other people that generally care about you, regardless of your creed, your background or who you love,' said Teixeira. 'I think the most proud of being in the Central Florida softball league is that we offer a safe, welcoming, family, fun experience,' said Agagnina. Anyone can join the leagues, regardless of skill level. Advertisement Click here for the team's official website. Click here to join the Central Florida Softball League. ‘Anti-social behaviour' fears over new Pembroke housing plan

A CALL to change holiday lets to flats in Pembroke's main street has been given the go-ahead despite concerns of antisocial behaviour connected with a nearby nightclub is creating scenes 'like the OK Corral'. In an application recommended for approval at the June meeting of Pembrokeshire County council's planning committee, Pembroke Assets Ltd sought permission to change nine holiday lets at 6-10 Main Street to flats. The scheme was supported by Pembroke Town Council. It was brought to committee as it was recommended for approval despite being a departure from the development plan, the departure relating to a previous scheme for the holiday lets being granted. The site was once Co-Op's old shop before it moved to the town's Goose's Lane in 2017, being empty until a number of developments took place including mixed business use and the previously-granted self-catering holiday lets. A report for members said there were high levels of noise both day and night at the location in Pembroke's main street, 'due to the presence of public houses and nightclubs'. Referring to the departure from planning guidelines, as in the previous scheme, it said: 'The primary justification of that proposal was economic regeneration of the town centre. As was considered then, the building was and is again vacant. Continued vacancy would lead to deterioration, to the detriment of the town centre and the surrounding Conservation Area.' Cllr Jonathan Grimes, one of two members of a joint ward covering the area, raised concerns about the scheme in an email to the committee, saying that, while he supported increasing affordable housing stock, he had concerns about the location, saying it was 'highly unsuitable for any form of housing for residents who would want or indeed expect a peaceful standard of living'. 'My main concern is the location of the property next door to a nightclub. The nightclub in question – 'OUT' has already attracted considerable negative publicity over the past few years due to the high number of incidents of anti-social behaviour. 'This has included loud noise, drunken behaviour, the use of drugs as well as street violence. I am led to believe that one of the main reasons that the former owners of the holiday rentals decided to sell up was due to the large number of complaints from guests over the late-night activities originating from the aforementioned nightclub. 'I have also received a number of complaints from local residents living in the vicinity about anti-social behaviour originating from the nightclub and having a detrimental effect on the neighbourhood.' Speaking at the meeting, Cllr Rhys Jordan said: 'These properties were considered for purchase by this council, withdrawn at the last moment, I assume around some of the planning conditions in place. I get the feeling this change of use is solely to allow the sale potentially to this council; if that's a reason that's absolutely fine but I don't buy it's going to bring a much-needed supply of flats in Pembroke.' He asked if the council had an interest in the scheme, but was told the initial interest several years before had not been progressed. He went on to say: 'The social housing element of this council are not interested in these properties, that leaves very few options going forward. Given the luxury nature of these flats, I'd imagine they have a high rent; are we opening up a can of worms for the future? It's like the OK Corral down there on a Friday or a Saturday night, I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay the rent there.' He warned any potential change to social housing would lead to 'potentially vulnerable people' housed 'in what is basically a sketchy area'. 'I'm not going to support it,' said Cllr Jordan, adding: 'I think we're opening a can of worms that could cause significant problems for the town in the future.' After approval was moved by Cllr Brian Hall, new committee chair Cllr Mark Carter stressed: 'We have to determine the application in front of us; if people want to live next to a nightclub that is their choice.' The application was passed by 11 votes to one, with one abstention.
