Details of Martin Zubimendi's transfer to Arsenal confirmed
Arsenal are set to confirm the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad imminently. The North London side have agreed a deal to sign the Spain international, who is set to become the club's second signing of the summer. Despite rumours of rival interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal's move for Zubimendi was agreed earlier this year and will be finalised without problem. Advertisement Fabrizio Romano has revealed the details of the deal. Arsenal have agreed to pay a fee that is 'slightly more' than the midfielder's €60m (£51.2m) release clause at Sociedad, as part of the pact to secure Zubimendi's transfer. However, the transfer fee will be paid in a series of instalments with Romano revealing the 'excellent relationship' between the two clubs has helped facilitate the deal. Last summer, Arsenal signed Mikel Merino from the Spanish side. Romano has confirmed the deal for Zubimendi will proceed as planned. Zubimendi turned down a transfer to Liverpool last summer in favour of remaining in San Sebastien but is now ready for a new challenge. Advertisement He will arrive at the Emirates having ranked among the top 10 players in La Liga last season for progressive passes and successful take-on percentage. Zubimendi's arrival is a welcome boost for Arsenal, who have seen contract talks with Thomas Partey stall. The Ghana international is out of contract later this month and could leave as a free agent. Mbeumo stance unchanged despite Thomas Frank appointment
Bryan Mbeumo remains keen to join Manchester United despite the appointment of Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur. Frank has been named as the new head coach at Spurs and the ex-Brentford boss is reportedly open to a reunion with Mbeumo in North London. However, despite interest from Spurs and Mbeumo's relationship with Frank, the Brentford winger is giving priority to Manchester United. Advertisement The Cameroon international has informed other suitors that his preference is Old Trafford and journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Manchester United remain 'optimistic' about securing a deal. Ruben Amorim's side saw an offer worth £55m, including add-ons, rejected by Brentford earlier in the transfer window. The Bees value the 25-year-old at around £65m. Amorim has made Mbeumo a top target as Manchester United look to rebuild from their worst league campaign since 1974. The club finished 15th in the Premier League and were the fifth-lowest scorers in the division. Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season and added eight assists for Brentford. Talks are ongoing over a deal as United look to make their second signing of the summer. The Red Devils have already completed the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. EXCLUSIVE Shocking moment brazen thief steals child's SCOOTER from family's front garden - before she shamelessly takes off
This is the shocking moment a brazen thief steals a young child's scooter. A 'furious' Barbara Graham-Taylor, 44, caught the opportunistic passerby peep into her front garden in North London and grab her son Leo's toy before shamelessly sauntering off. The learning-support teacher said her 10-year-old 'sobbed' when he found out it was missing and has left the family feeling unsafe in their area after the 'violation'. 'It's not about the value of it but the sentiment and the emotion attached to it - it was his favourite thing in the whole world,' she said. 'He was devastated, he sobbed when we told him, he could not believe it. 'He was so angry but we had to try explain to him that sometimes things like this happen and we have to take it as it is - even if it is wrong that we have to take more precautions now.' Ms Graham-Taylor, who has lived in the Finchley area for more than 20 years, said this was a 'family place' and 'never felt anxious' about her neighbourhood. The family noticed the scooter was missing the day after the theft when the teacher would usually bring it along to pick-up time at her son's school. But after it was stolen, as well as several other break-ins in the area, she said she is increasingly scared of 'the world we are starting to live in'. Ms Graham-Taylor shared the video in a local community chat to try warn others about the shameless thief and was shocked to get responses from neighbours that the woman had done similar depraved acts to their property. While others criticised Ms Graham-Taylor for leaving the scooter on her porch, she emphasised that 'it was on our property, not on the street'. 'I've always felt safe in my area but now I've started hiding everything,' she added. But not all faith was lost in the Graham-Taylor household. A kind stranger donated their son's scooter to Leo so he could scoot to school again. Ms Graham-Taylor said it was an 'emotional moment' when the neighbour dropped it round and helped her 'believe in the community again'. 'I'm just thankful for the kindness of strangers. There's a happy ending here, that's how we're trying to look at it.' Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment. The theft comes only days after another woman captured the moment a brazen 'thief' tried to break into her mother's car whilst she was filming a TikTok video. Madison Bush, 19, was cleaning her room and recording a video for a friend when she noticed a man and woman standing outside her home in what appeared to be a heated argument. But the scene quickly took a dramatic turn as the hairdressing student from Ashurst, Kent, glanced out of the window, only to spot the man allegedly trying to break into her mother's car in broad daylight. Acting on instinct, Madison threw open her window and confronted the suspected thief, interrupting the brazen attempt as the situation unfolded just metres from her family home. Speaking to MailOnline, the 19-year-old said: 'I was just sending a video to my boyfriend's sister of me cleaning my room and jamming and saw the two people outside. 'It was a man and a woman, and they were standing outside my house, and it looked like they were arguing. 'I thought nothing of it at first because they walked away, but then the guy came back around my house. 'He tried the door to my [mum's] car, and I literally had the adrenaline rush of opening my window to shout at him. 'He was clearly trying to find any cash or things of value that he could take because he wouldn't have been able to take the car without the keys.' In the video, which was shared on social media, the man, wearing a black hoodie, black trousers and some white trainers, seemingly tried to open the car. After seeing this, she quickly opened her window and shouted: 'Erm... Excuse me.' At this, the man casually walks away, and when she tries to get his attention, he lifts his hand, which prompts her to say: 'Thought so mate, keep walking.'

Average London property prices unexpectedly jumped by more than £14,000 in April
Average London house prices unexpectedly jumped more than £14,000 in April to their highest levels in more than two years. Latest data from the Land Registry showed the average cost of a home in the capital rose 2.6% during the month from £552,402 to £566,614 . That boosted the annual rate of house price inflation in London from 0.9% to 3.3%. The leap in London prices bucked the national trend in April. Across England as a whole average prices fell 3.7% to £286,327. That dragged the annual rate of house price inflation down from 7% in March to 3.5% in April. Prices were expected to ease in April after a rush to beat the deadline for new higher stamp duty rates for first time buyers on March 31. However, the discounted rates, which meant debut buyers paid no stamp duty on purchases up to £425,000, was seen as less of a benefit in London where prices are much higher. The highest average price ever recorded in London according to the Land Registry measure was the £581,320 reached in August 2022 but since then the London market has flatlined at best. It was last higher than April's figure in January 2023. But north London estate agent and a former RICS residential chairman Jeremy Leaf, said: 'It might seem as though this data shows considerable housing market resilience but it doesn't tell the whole story. "Although the most comprehensive of all the surveys as it includes cash and mortgaged transactions, the results reflect what was happening over the last few months. Since then stock levels have continued to rise, resulting in more balance between supply and demand so softening prices and lengthening transactions. "Looking forward, values are likely to continue to reduce a little inevitably as interest rates will not fall as far and as fast as many had expected as inflation stays stubbornly high despite today's small dip.' The figures show there has been a particularly big rise in prices for new build properties in London over recent months. In February, the latest month for which data is available, the average cost of a new build home in the capital leaped 19.1% to a record £595,659.
