Line-up of tribute bands for free County Durham music festival Party in the Park

A free music festival is set to bring a full day of live entertainment to the heart of a County Durham community. Party in the Park will return to Spennymoor this year and take place in Jubilee Park on Saturday, August 9, from 1pm to 10.30pm. The event, organised by Spennymoor Town Council, promises a packed programme of music, family activities, and summer fun, and will feature a full line-up of tribute acts and performers. Mr Johnson, a singer-songwriter who has supported artists such as Joss Stone, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Chesney Hawkes, said: "It's fantastic to get the chance to play this open-air gig to so many people in my hometown. "It will help round off an exciting summer, with the release of my new EP Better Days, a headline gig at the Cluny, and a string of summer festival shows." Other acts on the bill include Fleety Hack, the Sam Fender Experience, Coyote Wilde, Jackson Live, Joel Coombes as Elton John, Non-Stop 90s, Bon Jordi, Jay Francis as George Michael, and Absolutely Abba. Councillor Liz Maddison, Mayor of Spennymoor Town Council, said: "Party in the Park is one of the town's magnet events that brings people into the heart of our community. Jay Francis (Image: Supplied) "It's a day when families, friends, and neighbours come together to have fun, enjoy incredible music and local talent — and best of all, it's free." Councillor Billy McAloon, leader of the town council, said: "This is exactly the kind of positive, inclusive event we're proud to host in Spennymoor. "Jubilee Park is the perfect setting, and with such a fantastic line-up, this will be a day to remember. The event will also include a funfair, inflatables, and a range of family-friendly activities throughout the day. Food and drink outlets will be available on site, and visitors are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, and their dancing shoes. Admission is free. Absolutely Abba (Image: Supplied)
