Cardinals Turn Heads With Nolan Arenado Announcement During White Sox Game

Cardinals Turn Heads With Nolan Arenado Announcement During White Sox Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The St. Louis Cardinals entered Thursday with a 39-35 record, trailing the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central by six games and sitting just 0.5 games back of a Wild Card spot. Advertisement As a team, the Cardinals are exhibiting an old-school approach on offense; they are tied for sixth in MLB in runs per game and rank third in batting average at .257, yet they rank 24th in home runs with only 68 on the year, suggesting a small-ball strategy. The organization's lack of offensive power can be attributed in part to losing 2022 MVP Paul Goldschmidt to the New York Yankees during the offseason, combined with the decision not to sign any impactful free agents. After a mediocre 83-79 finish last year and no roster improvements, trade rumors surrounding Nolan Arenado began circulating, but ultimately nothing materialized. St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (28)Jeff Curry-Imagn Images Arenado's journey with the Cardinals began when he was traded from the Colorado Rockies prior to the 2021 season. Over the course of his 13-year career, he has established himself as an elite third baseman, earning eight All-Star selections, ten consecutive Gold Gloves, and five Silver Slugger awards. Advertisement During today's game against the Chicago White Sox, Arenado accomplished a significant career milestone by hitting his 350th career home run—a moment the team announced with a post on X. "A milestone for Nado!" the Cardinals exclaimed. "Nolan Arenado joins the 350 home run club!" Fans have been reacting to this big news. "Congratulations to him," said one "Excellent job Nado!" exclaimed another. "TOTALLY AWESOME, Arenado!!!! Congratulations!!!" one added. "Arenado. Career 350 HR. Congrats," said another. "Congratulations," added one. In the 2025 season, Arenado is currently batting .245 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs in 70 games—a drop-off from his career norms as he's in the midst of his age 34 season. Nolan Arenado the Center of Interest in Cardinals Trade Deadline Prediction

Nolan Arenado the Center of Interest in Cardinals Trade Deadline Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With a month and a half before the clock strikes midnight on MLB's trade deadline, front offices are deciding whether to be buyers, sellers, or do nothing before July 31. Advertisement Prior to Tuesday's St. Louis Cardinals-Chicago White Sox game, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer published an article predicting what each MLB team would do at the deadline. With the Cardinals struggling this month, he suggested the team would perhaps part ways with their biggest star. "The Cardinals were a nice story early on, but a 4-10 June has cleared up any confusion about how good they actually are." Rymer wrote. "Despite his contract and waning production, Nolan Arenado remains an interesting trade chip. He badly needs a change of scenery, and he should want one amid the sudden losing. If he gets one, maybe he'll be energized, Frankenstein-style into the Arenado of old." St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (28) looks on during the game against the Milwaukee BrewersJeff Hanisch-Imagn Images The 34-year-old has been the subject of trade rumors for several months. Unfortunately, Arenado, a .283 career hitter, is having one of his worst seasons in 2025. Through 68 games, he's slashing .244/.306/.388 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs. His current OPS of .694 is a career-low. Advertisement Despite his struggles at the plate, Arenado could still bring value to teams in need of a gold-glove caliber third baseman. He wasn't the only Cardinals potential trade-chip mentioned in Rymer's article however. "Otherwise, Ryan Helsley, Sonny Gray, Erick Fedde and Miles Mikolas are here, too. The first of those names is arguably the best reliever who could be available this summer." Like Arenado, Helsley's numbers are down in 2025. The 30-year-old has a 3.96 ERA and has blown more saves this season (5) than all of last year (4). However, Helsley is a proven closer who set the franchise record with 49 saves last season, and could be the final piece for a team looking to make some noise in the postseason. Dodgers Named ‘Dream Landing Spot' For Cardinals' Nolan Arenado

Dodgers Named 'Dream Landing Spot' For Cardinals' Nolan Arenado originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Following Rafael Devers' move from Boston to the Bay Area, baseball fans are eagerly awaiting the next high-priced talent to be traded. Advertisement St. Louis Cardinals veteran Nolan Arenado has long been the subject of trade rumors, and now, we have a good idea of the 'dream-landing spot' for the all star third baseman. Amid the Cardinals struggles in June, Bleacher Report MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer believes the Los Angeles Dodgers would be the ideal spot for Arenado. "Arenado is 34 years old and in the third season of a steep offensive decline. But the 10-time Gold Glover can still get it done on defense if nothing else, and he just seems the kind of guy whose bat would be energized by a new environment." Rymer wrote. St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (28) during the game against the Milwaukee BrewersJeff Hanisch-Imagn Images "Max Muncy would probably beg to differ here, and so might the Dodgers. Ever since Muncy got new glasses, he's been a different hitter with a 1.025 OPS over 30 games." Advertisement While Muncy's hot bat could be making Arenado's transition to Tinseltown difficult, it is Arenado's glove that could be the difference maker. "The Dodgers nonetheless need to be thinking about upgrading their defense at the hot corner. Though their infield has broken even with zero Outs Above Average overall, third base is deep under water with -8 OAA. That is mostly on Muncy, who is at -7 just on his own." "Besides, Arenado joining the Dodgers would allow the rest of us to move on while presumably permitting him to be very happy. The Southern California native has been linked to the Dodgers for what feels like forever, and they would make a nice final stop on what has been a terrific career."
