Tour operators discuss plan to enhance cross border tourism
Guwahati: Tour operators representing Assam and Bhutan convened to discuss strategies for enhancing cross-border tourism, with specific attention to Bhutan's eastern circuit.

This took place at the 15th annual general body meeting and convention of the Tour Operators Association of Assam (TOAA), held at Samdrup Jongkhar on Friday, on the invitation of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, Guwahati.
"The meeting witnessed the participation of around 100 TOAA members and featured a very successful B2B meet with tour operators, hoteliers, and tourism officials of Bhutan," the TOAA said in a statement.
A special issue of TOAA's newsletter, 'Tea Break', was also released on the occasion, highlighting the potential of tourism between Assam and Bhutan.
The convention was attended by the commissioner and secretary of Assam govt's tourism department, the opposition leader of the Bhutan National Assembly, the Royal Bhutanese Consul General, and representatives from the Samdrup Jongkhar district administration, among others.
Nirod Pandey (Moni) from Assam was honoured with the 'achievement award' at the meeting, acknowledging his service in the tourism sector, especially at the Mayong Pobitora tourist point.
