AMC Says New NCM Preshow Ads Don't 'Negatively Influence Moviegoing Habits'

Word got out today that the No. 1 exhibition circuit, AMC Theatres, will start running more advertising during their pre-shows beginning July 1. Why is this a big deal? Bigger than the taxation of trade routes? Because AMC close to six years ago said it wouldn't partake in National CineMedia's new ad spots. At the time, AMC believed more ads would make moviegoers mad. Other rivals are already running longer ads during their pre-shows. Exhibition can't survive on film rentals alone. Essentially, AMC has hammered a deal with National CineMedia Inc. to run the spots during each movie's pre-shows. National CineMedia is the ad network in major circuits. There's a 'platinum spot' that will be shown on screens just prior to a movie's start. AMC will reportedly get a cut of the ad sales. Said an AMC spokesperson, 'For the past five years, AMC has sought out crucial revenue that is not reliant on the increase of base ticket prices. We've done this through more and better moviegoing enhancements like our significant expansion of PLFs, a greater selection of food and beverage offerings, and the introduction of movie-going merchandise like popcorn buckets and other collectable concession vessels. During that same time, others in our industry have taken in revenue through their partnership with NCM, via these so-called Platinum Spots.' They added, 'While AMC was initially reluctant to bring this to our theatres, our competitors have fully participated for more than five years without any direct impact to their attendance. This is a strong indication that this NCM preshow initiative does not negatively influence moviegoing habits. Our participation delivers us vital revenue as we continue on our recovery path and allows us to continue offering significant value on ticket prices through initiatives like Discount Tuesday, 20% off matinee pricing, and the upcoming 50% off Wednesday ticketing program.' Bloomberg first had the story about AMC's pre-show ads. Nicole Kidman's Kids Came to Austria While Filming 'Nine Perfect Strangers — 'But They Didn't Want to Visit the Set (Exclusive)

Nicole Kidman's daughters joined her while she filmed the newest season of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' The actress said they came to Austria but were not interested in visiting her on set Kidman shares her two younger daughters with husband Keith UrbanNicole Kidman's kids may have joined her abroad while she filmed her newest TV show, but they were not interested in actually coming to set. The actress, 57, spoke with PEOPLE about the newest season of her Hulu show, Nine Perfect Strangers, and revealed that two of her kids, daughters Faith Margaret, 14, and Sunday Rose, 16, joined her abroad in Austria while filming. "My family was in Austria and they loved it," says Kidman. "They were skiing, and so that was great having things for them to do while I was working." "They would spend a day skiing and I would commute from a little ski lodge to work," says the proud mom. As for whether her kids were interested in seeing her work or going to set, Kidman admits, "No, not really." Kidman, who shares her two younger girls with husband Keith Urban, was interviewed by Allure in May and was asked if she likes who she is as a mother. "I do, actually. Yeah, I'm very close to both my girls," Kidman said of her teenage daughters. "I sit on their beds and discuss the most intimate things; I get to be their guide." "If they want to tell me to be quiet, they can. I'm able to apologize to them. I'm able to stand up to them. I very much like the relationship we have. It's nice to be able to say that." In March, Kidman's daughter Sunday Rose shared a sweet boomerang on her Instagram Stories after she joined her actress mom at a screening for her film Holland in Nashville, Tenn. In the clip, Sunday Rose could be seen wearing a red blazer and black skirt, pairing them with a navy V-neck sweater and a white collared shirt. She posed by a wall of tulips, where the film's name was nestled and written on a wooden board. "So proud of my mama 🩷 can't wait for yall to see HOLLAND on @primevideo March 27!!!!" she wrote over the video. Earlier in March, the Babygirl actress returned the favor and shared a photo on her Instagram Stories of her teenage daughter Sunday Rose walking the runway during Paris Fashion Week. In the photo, the teenager could be seen strutting the catwalk for Miu Miu, wearing a yellow leather skirt, maroon leather tank top and plaid jacket. She also wore tan boots and added winged eyeliner. "Love you baby! @sundayrose," Kidman sweetly wrote over the photo, which marked Sunday Rose's second appearance on the runway. Judge Threatens To Bar Sean 'Diddy' Combs From Courtroom If He Continues To Interact With Jurors

Sean 'Diddy' Combs might be barred from his own trial, the judge said Thursday in a bombshell moment. With the jury absent, Judge Arun Subramanian warned defense attorneys in a sidebar that he might exclude the defendant from the Lower Manhattan courtroom if he continued to look, nod or make facial expressions at jurors, CNN reported. More from Deadline Sean 'Diddy' Combs: An Updated Timeline Of Charges, Allegations & Consequences The Rap Mogul Faces Sean 'Diddy' Combs: An Updated Timeline Of Charges, Allegations & Consequences The Rap Mogul Faces Warner Bros Discovery Hits Back At Russell Simmons' "Unfounded Allegations" In Ex-Mogul's $20M Suit Over 2020 Sexual Assault Documentary - Update The admonition came after Subramanian said he saw Combs looking at and 'nodding vigorously' toward the jury twice during today's cross-examination of prosecution witness Bryana Bongolan, who had told the court Wednesday that the defendant had dangled her off a 17th-story balcony in 2016. Subramanian told defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo that he had been clear that there were to be no theatrics during Combs' trial on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and more. 'I looked and I saw your client looking at the jury and nodding vigorously,' CNN reported the judge telling the attorney. 'It is absolutely unacceptable.' Asked by the jurist if it would happen again, Agnifilo said per CNN that it would not. Subramanian said that if there was any further juror interaction by Combs, he might instruct the jury about it and, potentially, consider barring the defendant from the courtroom. Combs, 55, faces up to life in prison if convicted. At the four-week mark of the trial, the jury of eight men and four women in the courtroom has heard explicit and sometimes heartrending testimony about rapes, emotional and physical violence, blackmail, and filmed drug-juiced 'freak-offs' from Combs' former longtime girlfriend Cassie Ventura and his ex-personal assistant 'Mia.' Nine Perfect Strangers OTT release date OUT: When and where to watch Nicole Kidman's thriller series

Four years after its debut captivated audiences worldwide, Nicole Kidman's psychological drama 'Nine Perfect Strangers' is back with a brand-new season, promising deeper mysteries and even more emotional twists. Season two premiered on May 21, 2025, and is now streaming on Hulu for US subscribers and Amazon Prime Video for viewers in India. The second season of the critically acclaimed series swaps the sunny backdrop of California for the serene yet mysterious Austrian Alps, where a new set of nine guests arrives at an elite wellness retreat. At the centre of the story is Masha Dmitrichenko, played by Nicole Kidman, a charismatic and enigmatic wellness guru who uses unconventional — and sometimes controversial — psychedelic therapy to heal trauma and unlock human potential. The new setting promises not just breathtaking visuals but also a deeper dive into themes of identity, transformation, and emotional resurrection. The retreat offers much more than spa treatments and yoga sessions; guests are challenged to confront their inner demons and strip away layers of past pain under Masha's unnervingly calm supervision. The cast for season two has been significantly expanded and includes some major names from across the globe. Alongside Nicole Kidman, viewers will see Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Annie Murphy (Schitt's Creek), Christine Baranski (The Good Fight), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Mark Strong, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Lena Olin, Lucas Englander, Aras Aydın, and Dolly de Leon. Season one of the series, which aired in 2021, was based on the bestselling novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty. While the first season was set in the same fictional Californian wellness retreat called Tranquillum House, season two takes creative liberty with a fresh plot and an entirely new cast of characters (except Masha), making it accessible to both returning viewers and newcomers. Fans eager to dive into the new season can now stream the first two episodes exclusively on Hulu (US) and Amazon Prime Video (India). The remaining six episodes will release weekly every Wednesday, culminating in a gripping season finale on July 2, 2025. Though free streaming is not currently available, new Hulu subscribers in the US can explore a limited-time trial offer. Amazon Prime members in India can access the series at no additional cost, apart from the usual Prime subscription.
