Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola earns top maternity accreditation
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Joint Commission has awarded Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola a Level IV verification for Maternal Levels of Care, has learned.
The hospital reportedly is one of just 10 Florida hospitals to earn Level IV accreditation.

The award recognizes Sacred Heart's ability to provide comprehensive care for mothers and infants across all levels of need and risk.
Sacred Heart Pensacola earned the highest tier of accreditation after undergoing two days of rigorous in-person examination by a Joint Commission surveyor, according to a news release.
Level IV status represents that the hospital provides comprehensive on-site medical and surgical care for complicated maternal conditions throughout all stages of a woman's pregnancy, according to the release.

'Securing the highest level of verification assures our community that our maternal and pediatric care teams are some of the best in the country,' said Dr. William J. Schwartz III, Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Sacred Heart Pensacola.
Sacred Heart's facilities serve as regional perinatal health care centers, offering high-quality and accessible care, officials said.
'Earning an accreditation of this stature instills a tremendous sense of joy and confidence in all of our maternal care associates,' said Niki Dey, director of Women's Services at Sacred Heart Pensacola.
Sacred Heart Pensacola aims to address key obstacles to maternal care, such as transportation, insurance, financial assistance, and childcare, officials said.
