Jimmy Kimmel Takes Off For The Summer, Jokes About Rudy Giuliani, Prince Harry & Mel Gibson Guest Hosting

Jimmy Kimmel has taken off for his summer holiday, paving the way for a swathe of celebrity guest hosts. Deadline revealed yesterday that the likes of Anthony Anderson, Kumail Nanjiani, Nicole Byer, Chris Distefano, Fortune Feimster, Alan Cumming and Jelly Roll would be guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!. More from Deadline 'Jimmy Kimmel Live! Reveals Summer Guest Hosts Including Diego Luna & Jelly Roll 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming '9-1-1: Nashville': ABC Spinoff Unveils Explosive New Teaser The comedian joked that there were some other, more controversial guests, lined up as well including Rudy Giuliani, Prince Harry, Mel Gibson, the 1000lb sisters and the comedy team of Bill Belichick and Jordan Hudson. 'Tonight, is my last show until labor day, I'm going to be off for the summer. I don't want to go either, they put it in my contract, I have to go to fat camp every summer. The truth is I'm going to spend the bulk of my summer at the Newark airport this year. I want to leave on a high note, that's why Seth Rogen is here. I'm going to gone for the next couple of months but rest assured if Donald Trump does anything monumentally crazy or anything that requires an emergency response, I will be in a canoe, ignoring it,' he joked. He then swore in Diego Luna, asking him to swear on a book of meat that he would uphold Kimmel's standards including making jokes about 'your President'. It marks the fifth year that Kimmel, who baked his summer break into his ABC contract, has taken off the summer, starting in 2020 with no shows during the summer of 2023 as a result of the dual labor strikes in Hollywood. Luna will kick off proceedings on Monday June 23 with guests including Patton Oswalt, David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Stone, Adria Arjona, Alan Tudyk, Ariela Barer, Heidi Klum and Dolores Huerta as well as musical performances by NEZZA, Hermanos Gutiérrez, and Good Charlotte. The Time To Upgrade To 21st-Century Systems Is Now

CEO & CLO of Age Brilliantly, Jerry Cahn, Ph.D., J.D., leads Project THRIVE to help businesses and workers benefit from upgrading systems. The recent barrage of almost daily flight delays due to air traffic control problems at Newark Airport exposed a set of challenges (registration required) with wider ramifications beyond airports and transportation. As business leaders, we need to see this as a clarion call for upgrading how our companies do business. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy shared with the public that the airport is using outdated equipment, which should have been replaced years ago. In a discussion with Kristen Welker, Duffy highlights that delayed replacement by modern technology caused the problem and needs to be addressed immediately. His action plan involves getting more air traffic controllers into the workforce as well as retirement policy changes, notably raising the retirement age from 56 to 61, with a 20% bonus to encourage older workers to stay. For me, this interview brought to light three key challenges we need to address in the coming years: Most age-related policies were created during the early and mid-20th century, when 'retirement from manual work' for a few "golden" years was the aging norm. Today, thanks to longevity, better health practices and technology, increasing numbers of people are staying productive into their 70s, 80s and beyond. Business leaders should encourage workers who want to continue working in some capacity (not necessarily the same job they did in the past)—whether it's for additional income, are passionate about their work and/or want to engage in purposeful activities—to meet both the workers' needs and those of businesses. The Great Resignation, in which over 50 million people left their jobs, often without another one lined up, revealed that people today want engaging work in which they can meet one or more of the three motives for work (i.e., income, passion, purpose). That applies to adults from Gen-Z through Boomers. Thanks to technology, '9-5 office work' is an option, not a necessity, for those who prefer hybrid, remote and flex work schedules. The key is to do engaging, meaningful, quality work on time so the rest of the team can do theirs. As a result, time blocks for 'work-life balance' are being replaced by life-work integration. Within your 16-hour wake hours, you choose when to work, care for yourself and care for children or parents, learn, etc. For people who choose to work for 30-60 years—in as many as 10 different careers—21st-century businesses need to adapt to these changing needs by offering flexible options so both the workers and the company will thrive. Media and business reports tell us that AI is going to change the nature of work. While some jobs might be eliminated, others will be created. For most people, AI may augment people's ability to do effective and efficient work. Simultaneously, our workforce is going to be intergenerational. As increasing numbers of older workers choose to stay in the workforce and the number of young workers declines (either from lower birth rates or increased preferences for entrepreneurship and gig positions), workers need to reject ageist attitudes toward older workers and younger managers to create collaborative, productive teams. Instead of waiting until the last minute to keep older workers in their jobs by offering "bonus pay," businesses can adopt flexible structures for workers to integrate work and non-work activities throughout their lives. This includes the development of a greater range of career paths in which workers can bring their whole selves to work. Empower them to apply skills and interests they have outside the business to projects within the company as well. Offer programs like phased retirement, sabbaticals, learning breaks, etc., throughout workers' careers, as they can generate greater engagement and retention. The inconveniences and near catastrophes at Newark Airport are the result of a lack of adequate planning and execution. Winston Churchill is widely credited with saying, "Never let a good crisis go to waste." Business leaders should use this as a call to upgrade their business systems now to meet the needs of customers and workers today. For our workers and businesses to thrive simultaneously, we need to adapt to 21st-century realities. UFC 317 Loses Main Card Bout As Former Title Challenger Is Out

(Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) With a little more than a week to go before the next pay-per-view on the UFC schedule, the promotion has lost one of the fights that was scheduled for the main card of UFC 317. That fight is a middleweight matchup between former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa and Roman Kopylov. The news of Costa being off the card came from Robert Tellez on social media. The fight has been removed from the UFC 317 page on the promotion's website. Costa opened his MMA career at 13-0. Since losing a title fight to then-UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya via TKO in September 2020, Costa is 1-4. He is coming off a split-decision setback to former middleweight titleholder Sean Strickland at UFC 302 in June 2024. Costa has a history of pulling out of UFC fights. Since he joined the promotion in 2017 after a stint as the Jungle Fights middleweight titleholder, Costa has withdrawn from six fights under the UFC banner. Two of those withdrawals came after Costa said he had not signed a deal for the fights. Reports are the fight between Costa and Kopylov is being moved to UFC 318 as the reason for the Costa being unable to compete at UFC 317 is an illness. The official fight card for UFC 317 is slim. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) Ilia Topuria (16-0) is a former Cage Warriors champion. He joined the UFC in 2020 with a 9-0 record. It did not take him long to make a name for himself. He was ranked No. 14 in the featherweight division after three UFC bouts at 145 pounds and one contest in the 155-pound division. Three of those scraps ended with Topuria winning via knockout. In his first fight as a ranked featherweight, Topuria dispatched Bryce Mitchell via submission in the second round, earned his first 'Performance of the Night' bonus and moved to No. 9 in the rankings. A matchup with No. 5 ranked Josh Emmett followed the Mitchell win. Topuria picked up a decision in a 'Fight of the Night' scrap. Topuria's next fight, saw him face Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 298. Topuria entered that bout as the No. 3 ranked featherweight. He left as the champion after knocking out Volkanovski in the second stanza. In his first defense of the UFC featherweight crown, Topuria made history, becoming the first fighter to finish former 145-pound champion Max Holloway via strikes, knocking out the ex-champion in the third round of their UFC 308 meeting in October 2024. When Topuria decided to move to lightweight and give up his featherweight title, he vowed to sit until he got a 155-pound title shot. That fight takes place at UFC 317. Topuria has a 16-0 record with eight of those wins coming under the UFC banner. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 16: Charles Oliveira of Brazil prepares to face Michael Chandler ... He won the vacant lightweight title with his win over Chandler and defended the title once, beating Dustin Poirier. He was booked to face Justin Gaethje in his second title defense, but Oliveira missed weight for that fight, which he won by submission, losing the title on the scale. Oliveira had a chance to regain the belt in October 2022, but Islam Makhachev submitted him and claimed the vacant belt. Since that loss, Oliveira is 1-1, beating Beneil Dariush by TKO in June 2023 and losing to Arman Tsarukyan via split decision in April of this year. Oliveira is coming off a November 2024 decision win over Michael Chandler. Oliveira is the No. 2 fighter in the official UFC lightweight rankings. Cory Sandhagen: Sean O'Malley fought scared against Merab Dvalishvili in UFC 316 rematch

Cory Sandhagen has been studying UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili closely. "The Sandman" was the most invested party in attendance at UFC 316 when Dvalishvili rematched his rival Sean O'Malley earlier this month in Newark, New Jersey. After Dvalishvili scored a third-round submission win over O'Malley, Sandhagen was front and center to make his own presence felt. Advertisement Speaking on Wednesday's edition of "The Ariel Helwani Show," the top contender shared his sympathy for the former champion O'Malley after losing a second straight fight to Dvalishvili. "I kind of thought O'Malley would do a little bit better. He didn't do so hot," Sandhagen said. "He definitely seemed a little off. So I kind of feel for the dude, too. I think he made some pretty big changes in his life. I hear him talk all the time about signs that the universe sends him from wherever it's coming from, and he was getting all the signs and stuff [that he was going to win]. I've been in a situation where I thought that everything was really lined up for things to go my way and then not had them go that way, so I feel for the dude. "It definitely wasn't the best performance in the world, but Merab looks like he just keeps getting better and better, so good for Merab too." Sandhagen reestablished himself as the likely next title challenger this past May with a second-round knockout of former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Des Moines. The fact that his win came sandwiched between the pair of Dvalishvili vs. O'Malley fights helped keep Sandhagen in the conversation. Advertisement O'Malley's initial loss to Dvalishvili in September appeared to set the table for Sandhagen to get a fight with the former champ. Instead, the promotion went the instant rematch route for "Sugar," which led Sandhagen toward Figueiredo. In that first Dvalishvili vs. O'Malley clash, the latter survived all 25 minutes and lost a unanimous decision, but the differences between O'Malley's two performances were clear for Sandhagen. "The first fight, the whole vibe of the fight was that Sean wasn't in control that much," Sandhagen said. "Even though maybe round-by-round, if you want to look at it under a microscope, it was kind of close, but the vibe of the fight was that he wasn't winning. This fight [at UFC 316], to me, he didn't look hardly in control at all. Everyone, especially in this fight, was kind of saying, 'Sean will knock him out, Sean has a puncher's chance, blah, blah, blah.' But the more I thought about it — man, Merab doesn't give you a ton of opportunities to step in and get hit. "Merab moves backward when he gets hit, and it's really hard to knock out a guy that, when you hit him, he's going away from the energy of the shot that you're throwing. So he's definitely just a tough guy to knock out for that reason because he's really hard to catch on the hard step, and that's when O'Malley hits people the best. [O'Malley] was kind of afraid of the wrestling, you could tell. It just wasn't that great." Advertisement Nothing has been made official yet regarding Sandhagen's role as the division's next title challenger, but that was the direction hinted at as UFC 316 came to a close, with Dvalishvili welcoming the challenge. The pair had a brief interaction backstage, which Sandhagen revealed to be cordial. Regardless of everyone seemingly being on board with the fight in theory, Sandhagen says he hasn't been "100%" promised by the UFC that he's next up. "It would be a really big, giant letdown, and I would probably start crying if I wasn't the guy after all of that," he said with a laugh. Advertisement Sandhagen, 33, is no stranger to difficult stylistic bouts and high-pressure wrestling scenarios. Take his most recent loss, a unanimous decision against Umar Nurmagomedov this past August, for example. Nurmagomedov gave Sandhagen all he could handle and ultimately pushed the American to arguably his best career performance, even in defeat. Against Dvalishvili, Sandhagen believes he has what it takes to stop a seemingly unstoppable champion. "The conditioning pays off for him big time," Sandhagen said of Dvalishvili. "He's not the most intimidating guy to go into a fight against in terms of getting finished — outside of, of course, him adding in some submission threats, which I'm sure he's going to continue to do. But Merab deserves a lot of respect to be put on his name, by all means. I also think too, though, that if you fight Merab in the proper way, you can be as much of a motherf***er to Merab as he is to everyone else. You kind of just have to know how to do that. "The last two wins that he's had, have been people who move their feet a ton. And I just know, speaking from experience, that will get you really tired, and it kind of seems like a little bit of a compensate way to stay away from clinching and wrestling the guy. I'm not afraid to wrestle. You guys saw in the Umar fight that if I get taken down, I will get up immediately if I want to. That's just a pain in the ass to fight. Not to mention that Merab makes a lot of wide movements with his hands — he's pretty darty and looks fidgety and difficult to hit. But he makes a lot of mistakes with his hands. "I kind of plan on master-classing Merab," Sandhagen continued. "I just have to out-MMA him everywhere and not be scared to wrestle with him or scared to get tired. That's like 101 in learning how to fight wrestlers. If you're scared to get tired, you're going to lose. Umar did not do that, but Sean, I think, was a little bit afraid to get tired in that one, and I think that kind of works in the inverse a lot of the time because then you just start moving your feet a lot more and just makes you more tired in the long run. So there's a lot there, but I'm excited to face the challenge."
