Kelsey Parker slammed after admitting she refuses to put suncream on her kids

Tom Parker's wife Kelsey Parker has come under fire after admitting that she doesn't use suncream on her kids - and will only use organic sunscreen to protect their skin during the summer Pregnant Kelsey Parker has been slammed for admitting she doesn't put suncream on her children claiming it 'causes skin cancer'. The mum-of-two - married to The Wanted's Tom Parker who died in 2022 - made the shock confession in the latest episode of her Mum's The Word! podcast with pal Georgia Jones. When Georgia, 38, asked for advice on how to apply suncream on her son without causing a tantrum, Kelsey said she prefers to keep her children out of the sun instead of putting SPF on them. She said: 'It's cause he knows, Georg. It's bad for you - that sunscreen.' ‌ Kelsey, who is now expecting her first baby with boyfriend Will Lindsay, added: 'My kids do not wear suncream. The only thing that I may put on them is an organic suncream. My kids, we went on holiday, I never put suncream on them and they do not burn. But you've been putting suncream on probably since birth." ‌ The 34-year-old even claimed that 'suncream is so bad' and 'we never used to wear suncream, suncream causes skin cancer'. Georgia, who is married to McFly star Danny Jones, said that her son would look like a tomato if she didn't put suncream on him. Kelsey replied: 'Just keep him out of the sun. 'I have got an organic, made out of beeswax, really no bad stuff in it suncream that when you put on, it doesn't absorb into your skin. You look white when you put it on because it's not got c*ap in it. It's not c*ap filled with all that stuff.' Shocked Georgia said: 'I just wasn't expecting this was they way it was going to go. I thought you was just going to give me advice on how to do it.' Kelsey has since come under fire online from listeners who slammed her for spreading 'dangerous information,' as reported by NeedToKnow. ‌ Amy said: 'This is really dangerous spreading this information. Please research.' Katie added: 'This is insane and so unsafe. It's so damaging, burning doesn't indicate sun damage, it can literally kill them. Wow.' Nina said: 'Really dangerous advice.' Another added: 'Just irresponsible to be honest.' While someone else agreed: "As someone who had lost family members to skin cancer this is such dangerous advice.' ‌ However, one person agreed with Kelsey as they said: 'She's absolutely right. The less ingredients the better.' Kelsey had two children - Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four - with Tom, who was diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma in 2020 and died from the disease in March 2022 at the age of 33. Glioblastoma is a type of cancer starting with a growth of cells in the brain or spinal cord. She is now expecting a baby with Will after finding love again.

'I got Turkey teeth that will last 10 years – cruel trolls say I've ruined my life'

'I got Turkey teeth that will last 10 years – cruel trolls say I've ruined my life' Lottie Carr, 24, flew more than 2,600 miles to Turkey to undergo a teeth transformation but after sharing her journey online she was told she's 'ruined her life' A woman has spoken about her experience of travelling 2,600 miles for a dental transformation despite knowing the results would last just a decade. Lottie Carr, 24, had her heart set on a gleaming new smile to address chips, cracks, discolouration and alignment problems. ‌ Despite being thrilled with her new teeth Lottie's online reveal has led to an unexpected onslaught of criticism. Her TikTok went viral, amassing more than 28.9m views and 1.6m likes. Stay informed on the latest health news by signing up to . ‌ Speaking to NeedToKnow Lottie, from north Wales, expressed her shock at the reaction. "I knew the video of myself with shaved-down teeth would likely invoke some kind of response as it was so outrageous but I did not expect the video to have international reach and receive the amount of negativity that it did. "I was told to kill myself, that I've ruined my life, that I am still ugly after the procedure, and that I'm a bad influence to young and impressionable viewers. "I don't think a lot of people share the 'during' phase of this procedure online so [people] don't actually see what is done to create the 'perfect Hollywood smile'. Article continues below Lottie flew more than 2,600 miles for the treatment despite being aware that her new teeth would only last 10 years (Image: Jam Press/@lottie_victoria ) "I didn't really have any major concerns with my teeth until very recently." Revealing her motivation Lottie said: "I had chips, cracks, staining, and alignment issues and just wanted the perfect smile." ‌ The cost comparison between countries was stark. While UK practices quoted Lottie £9,900 for crown veneers her final bill in Turkey was around £4,000. In 2023 the Turkish Dental Association estimated that 250,000 people travel to Turkey each year for dental treatment Lottie detailed the procedure, saying: "I had 10 crowns on the top and 10 crowns on the bottom. ‌ "There was also a possibility that I was going to need three root canals but they managed to avoid this on the day luckily. "My teeth were all shaved down and reshaped to enable the crowns to slot over the top to ensure they seal properly. Despite being overjoyed with the results, after sharing her journey online, Lottie has said she has been receiving a barrage of abuse (Image: Jam Press/@lottie_victoria ) ‌ "It was uncomfortable but not painful in the slightest as I was injected with anaesthetic. I did not feel any sensitivity and it was virtually a pain-free process. "I was at the dentist for four days in a row but only a few hours each day. "I do get a lot of anxiety that I'm going to lose one, or stain one, or that I'm going to suffer with sudden pain etc – but it has only been a few weeks since the procedure so it is something I need to get used to. ‌ "I am so happy with the results. In person I have had 100% positive reactions." Lottie, who describes herself as a "very spontaneous person", made the decision to have her teeth done just a few months earlier. Despite being aware that she may need to have the procedure done again after a decade she also considered it not to be an issue. ‌ She said: "I started looking at some TikToks of the procedure before I flew out and seeing other people's teeth shaved down started to make me feel nervous – I'd not seen it before. "[But] I think life is short and we should be able to do whatever we want with our own bodies providing it is safe. Lottie had the treatment in Turkey (Image: Jam Press/@lottie_victoria ) ‌ "I made sure that the clinic I chose uses high-quality materials and that the dentist is properly trained, licensed, and experienced. "I am aware of the longevity of porcelain crowns and am aware I will need to go back in 10 years time – but I live in the now and I'd rather have a big beautiful smile now rather than live my whole life with my teeth in the condition they were in. "To achieve the look I wanted this was my option." ‌ But Lottie felt "overwhelmed" by the response her video had garnered. She is now choosing to concentrate on the positive feedback and ignore the trolls. Lottie's teeth during the treatment (Image: Jam Press/@lottie_victoria ) ‌ She continued: "To have that many people see you in the most vulnerable state you've ever been in, and to have them all comment on it, it's really not for the faint-hearted. "But now that I have seen the results and am so happy with my teeth I am able to brush off the comments. "It has definitely made me a lot more aware of the risks and dangers with this type of procedure abroad though." ‌ Lottie was quoted £9,900 for her crown veneers in the UK (Image: Jam Press/@lottie_victoria ) On the NHS website it is recommended that those seeking treatment abroad should follow a checklist. "All types of medical treatment involve some element of risk," it reads. Article continues below "It's important to get as much information as possible about your treatment options so that you can make informed choices." The NHS encourages people to think about their reasons for going abroad and to know the warning signs, get a second opinion, do research, consider the possible side effects and complications, and more which you can find out more here.

My home was destroyed by an everyday appliance — don't let the same tragedy happen to you

Tanya Bennett's life was literally left in ruins after she received a shocking call on June 9. 'I was at work and the neighbour called to say my house was on fire and she'd called the fire brigade,' Bennett told NeedToKnow. The 36-year-old had cleaned her home in Telford, England, the night prior to the fire, and unknowingly left a vacuum cleaner plugged in overnight. 'I couldn't believe it when the firefighters said it was caused by the vacuum cleaner.' After receiving the call from her eagle-eyed neighbor, Bennett raced home, concerned about her three dogs — French bulldogs Lewi, Monkey, and Cockapoo Luna. When she arrived, she found her house completely engulfed in flame and was distressed to learn that only one dog, who had been shut in the kitchen, had been recovered at that point. Bennett explained that the door to the kitchen had been shut, blocking the spread of the fire, and leaving it the only room in the house that wasn't damaged by flame, smoke, or soot. 'The other two dogs were trapped upstairs by the smoke,' Bennett recalled. 'It was heartbreaking. I was screaming and crying, and they brought the dogs out one by one.' 'I'm absolutely devastated, helpless and in shock,' she said. After the fire was put out, Bennett entered the house to assess the damage. 'All the furniture is covered in soot, the TV cabinet is melted, and all of my drawers of clothes are covered in soot. Basically, every single item in my house is covered by smoke. There's not one single item that is not. I need to replace everything, and it will cost thousands,' she said. 'The whole house needs specialist cleaning, and I can't go in without PPE.' While the Telford home is being repaired, cleaned, and inspected for safety, Bennett has been left homeless and is currently residing in a temporary accommodation. The three dogs, all alive and safe after the incident, have been left in the care of a friend in the meantime. 'I didn't think that a vacuum cleaner could even catch fire. How much damage it's caused is crazy. Apparently, the dust particles inside are very combustible,' Bennett reflected. 'Just turn everything off at the wall or unplug appliances,' she advised. 'Even though the electrics tripped and cut off, it didn't matter as the fire still continued once it had sparked.' While experts at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) advise unplugging motor-reliant appliances to avoid overheating and electrical fires, the agency also warns that battery-powered vacuums, which are becoming increasingly more common in American households, and appliances are often at risk of sudden ignition.
