Naxalism will be completely wiped out from the Country: PM Modi
Bhubaneswar, June 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that Naxalism will be completely eradicated from the country, emphasizing that "this is Modi's guarantee." Addressing the first anniversary celebration of the BJP government in Odisha, the Prime Minister said that at one point, Naxal violence had spread across more than 100 districts in the country, forming what was known as the "Red Corridor." He stated that it was the BJP government that took strong and decisive action against the Naxal insurgents, whose violent activities were obstructing development in tribal regions. Modi noted that the BJP-led government prioritized the development of tribal areas and successfully gained the trust of the tribal population. As a result, Naxal-related violence has significantly declined and is now limited to only 20 districts nationwide. The Prime Minister firmly reiterated that Naxalism will be completely rooted out from the country, adding, "This is Modi's guarantee." UNI DP GNK

IED blast kills CRPF ASI in Odisha forest weeks after Maoists looted explosives
ROURKELA: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jharkhand-based 134 CRPF battalion was martyred in an IED blast on Saturday early morning along the Odisha-Jharkhand border during a joint combing operation against Maoist operatives. The explosion occurred in the Banko forest under K Balang police station limits of Rourkela Police District (RPD), about 95 km from Rourkela, in Sundargarh district of Odisha. The martyred ASI, Satwan Singh (34), belonged to the 134 CRPF battalion stationed in West Singhbhum district of neighbouring Jharkhand. The blast site has remained tense, especially as it comes in the wake of the banned CPI (Maoist) operatives hijacking a truck and looting industrial explosives from the same Banko forest on May 27. After several years of relative calm, Naxal-related violence has resurfaced on the Odisha side of the border. Sources said that following the blast, the critically injured CRPF personnel was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Rourkela around 9:30 am, where he succumbed to his injuries around 11 am. DIG of Police (Western Range), Brijesh Kumar Rai, said, 'During the joint combing operation, an IED blast occurred around 5:45 am in the connecting Banko forest with the Saranda forest along the Odisha-Jharkhand border, in which a CRPF jawan was injured and later succumbed.' He added that the Odisha-Jharkhand border has been put on high alert and security has been further beefed up. Both DIG Rai and Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani visited the hospital. SP Wadhwani said the anti-Maoist operation would continue with necessary safeguards. Following the explosive truck loot on the morning of May 27, security forces from Odisha, including SOG and DVF personnel, along with their counterparts from Jharkhand—CRPF, CoBRA and Jharkhand Jaguar—have been conducting intensified search and anti-Naxal operations in the Maoist stronghold of the dense Saranda forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The hijacked truck was believed to be carrying nearly five tonnes of industrial explosives. During the ongoing operations, around 3.8 tonnes of the explosives have been recovered from different parts of the Saranda forest.

Suhas Shetty murder: Karnataka to form anti-communal task force to quell unrest in coastal belt
G Parameshwara MANGALURU: In response to a spate of recent communal disturbances in coastal Karnataka, home minister G Parameshwara Saturday announced the formation of a dedicated Anti-Communal Task Force for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The unit, he said, will function exclusively in these two districts to check communal tensions and maintain public order. After a law and order review meeting at the Mangaluru City police commissioner's office, Parameshwara said the specialised force would be modelled on the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), with which it would also share resources and training. "Those involved in inciting or supporting communal violence will be dealt with firmly. The force will be headed by a senior officer of the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP). Its structure, personnel strength, and operational framework will be finalised soon. As of now, there is no need for such a force in other districts. If the situation demands, we will consider it later," he said. The move follows rising communal tensions in the coastal belt, often marked by incidents of hate speech, moral policing, and targeted violence. The proposed task force will coordinate closely with local police to ensure swift preventive action and crackdown on hate-mongering. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Vietnam (Take A Look At The Prices) Container House Search Now Undo As Naxal-related incidents have sharply declined in Karnataka, Parameshwara said the state is now looking at downsizing the ANF and redirecting its experienced personnel to the new unit. "Most of the Naxals surrendered in Karnataka, and the activity almost came to a standstill. However, ANF will not be entirely disbanded. The trained personnel and other officers will be absorbed into the new anti-communal task force," he said. When asked about the earlier Anti-Communal Wing, which handled cases of moral policing, the minister said it was not a standalone force. "It was merely a wing operated by the existing police personnel and not a dedicated task force," he said. 'The govt has decided to act against those behind communal riots with the new force. Evil forces will not be allowed to disrupt peace. Those who engage in communal violence, regardless of their community or religion, will face strict action. For the well-being of the state and the nation, such incidents should never recur. We will take all possible steps within the legal framework. Our goal is to ensure that peace in the coastal region,' said G Parameshwara, home minister.
