Tourist bargains Rs 550 bag down to Rs 50 in India, calls it ‘scam'; sparks online debate

A foreign tourist in India has gone viral for his bargaining skills after haggling the price of a bag down from Rs 550 to just Rs 50, and still walking away without buying it. In the now-viral reel, the tourist is first seen buying a packet of chips for Rs 20. Moments later, he spots a street vendor selling 'silk' bags and asks for the price. The vendor quotes Rs 550, but when asked for the 'honest price,' he drops it to Rs 400. The tourist refuses, prompting a rapid price drop, first to Rs 200, then Rs 150, and finally Rs 50. Amused by the sharp drop, the tourist asks, 'How did it go from 550 to 200?' Even at Rs 50, he chooses not to buy the bag, leaving viewers divided over the ethics of his approach. The video, posted on Instagram by user @nativety with the caption '$0.25 chips in India,' has amassed over 30.6 million views and 1 million likes, triggering a heated debate in the comments section. The overlay text on the video said 'Scam in India'. A post shared by Native Ty (@nativety) One user commented, 'Bro kept doing it till the seller says come on man it's free.' Another said, 'So sad that he tried to charge 500 for the bag. Luckily you knew what you were doing.' But not everyone supported the tourist's approach. A user wrote, 'I wouldn't call this a scam. I am sure you will buy the same tote in America for a much higher price and then pay a tip on it too.' Another criticised the unnecessary haggling, saying, 'If you weren't going to buy it, why did you even keep on bargaining. I hope you bought it though after all the unnecessary drama. Poor guy needed some sales for his family.' This isn't the first time a foreign tourist has had to demand a 'fair price' in India. A few years ago, a well-known backpacker named Philip, who has travelled extensively around the world, shared a similar experience. Known for documenting his candid adventures across major global cities, Philip often posts practical travel tips to help fellow travellers avoid scams and overpriced deals. In one of his popular TikTok clips, he exposed how some street vendors tend to inflate prices when dealing with foreigners. While he successfully negotiated a 'fair price' during the encounter, his aggressive bargaining style didn't sit well with everyone. Several viewers felt his approach lacked sensitivity toward local livelihoods.

Skittles And Coca-Cola In Omelette? This Latest Bizarre Food Has Left Internet Disgusted

Omelettes have long been a breakfast staple across the globe, with countless variations. From the classic French fold to regional favourites like the Spanish tortilla or Indian masala omelette. So what happens when someone throws in a handful of Lays, some Coca-Cola and a splash of Skittles? Intrigued? So was a content creator who goes by the moniker Navite Ty on Instagram. In a viral video, he captures a unique food fusion moment on the streets: a vendor preparing what he calls a "Skittlelette", yes, that's Skittles plus omelette. Pointing to the vendor's cart, Ty says, "Oh wow, what is this man selling? Yes, can I have one, please? One Skittle, one Coca-Cola..." To which the vendor clarifies, "One omelette?" Ty nods enthusiastically, "One yes yes, Coca-Cola omelette, yes," flashing a thumbs-up to seal the deal. Native Ty then murmurs while pointing towards the ingredients, "I think we're gonna get Skittles in an omelette, maybe some Lays also," and continues showcasing the entire recipe. On the other hand, the street vendor adds Coca-Cola on a pan left for heating on a stove. He then breaks three to four eggs into the hot pan, followed by a few drops of lime. A caption expressing the content creator's thoughts while looking at the pan reads, "Iil pinky dip in the yolk." Interrupting the cook in between the process, "This is gonna be good?" asks the influencer, to which the street vendor was found nodding his head in affirmation. The content creator continues his voiceover, "We have a crowd around us. Should I go for the chips or the Skittles? The vendor adds chopped onions to the pans and mixes the contents thoroughly with the spoon. He yet again adds a few more drops of Coca-Cola to the pan and continues mixing. In one segment of the recipe, when he adds the Skittles, the content creator exclaims, "The Indian speciality." The recipe ends with a bit of garnishing by some chopped coriander leaves and pan tossing. Finally, pointing towards the finished product, Native Ty says, "Teflon, here we are. Not only that, as per the content creator, the street vendor also adds some "American speciality," when the latter opens the pack of green lays to top the scrambled eggs before serving them on a plate barehanded. At the end of the video, while diving into the food, he mentions, "Here we are with the special skittle Indian omelette. Let's go for a taste. I'm not sure if I'm gonna get sick from this, but here is the special Indian skittle omelette and Coca-Cola cheers," but refrains from showing his honest reaction post savouring the item.
