NTT Secures Backing for $16.3 Billion Deal to Take Over AI Arm
Bloomberg Updated 20 Jun 2025, 10:27 AM IST (Bloomberg) -- Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. said it has secured enough bids to buy NTT Data Group Corp., with the deal worth ¥2.37 trillion ($16.3 billion) expected to boost its AI ambitions and simplify the corporate structure. The Japanese company will start the settlement on June 26, it said in a statement Friday. NTT, which owns about 58% of NTT Data, had last month offered ¥4,000 for every share it doesn't already own in the company with plans to take it private. The takeover of NTT Data, one of the world's largest data center operators, would put artificial intelligence at the heart of NTT group, expanding the global reach of its various units. About one-third owned by the government, NTT competes with KDDI Corp. and SoftBank Corp. in the growing AI race, at a time Tokyo is pushing companies to develop a homegrown AI platform to vie with the likes of OpenAI and China's DeepSeek. The move also comes as Japanese conglomerates are under pressure from regulators to streamline their corporate structures. In February, the Tokyo Stock Exchange cautioned companies with parent-affiliate listings to better protect minority shareholders' interests, stepping up its long-burning campaign to reduce such arrangements. Since then, NEC Corp. has acquired unit NEC Networks & System Integration Corp., while Bloomberg News reported Toyota Motor Corp. Chairman Akio Toyoda's plan to buy Toyota Industries Corp. The moves have fueled speculation that more firms may follow suit. NTT previously acquired its cash-generating wireless carrier NTT Docomo Inc. in 2020. More stories like this are available on

"NTT" to become telecom giant's official company name in July
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan's largest telecommunications provider, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp., will change its official name to NTT Inc. on July 1 after shareholders approved the switch to the commonly used abbreviation on Thursday. Noting the decades-old name no longer accurately reflects its contemporary areas of operation, which range from information and communication technology to real estate, Senior Executive Vice President Takashi Hiroi said the change will "enhance our brand as a leading global company." The company said it will continue to use the signature "Dynamic Loop" design as its corporate logo. The original name has been in use since NTT was established as a public corporation in 1952. It continued to be used through its privatization in 1985. The name change became possible with the amendment of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation Act last year, which loosened regulations on the company that has long provided vital public services.

Keysight, NTT, and NTT Innovative Devices Achieve 280 Gbps World Record Data Rate with Sub-Terahertz for 6G
SANTA ROSA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) in collaboration with NTT Corporation (NTT) and NTT Innovative Devices Corporation (NTT Innovative Devices), today announced a groundbreaking world record in data rate achieved using sub-THz frequencies. 1 This milestone was reached with Keysight's Vector Component Analyzer (VCA) in conjunction with NTT's and NTT Innovative Devices' high-output, wide-bandwidth J-band Indium Phosphide (InP)-based power amplifier (PA). In addition, advanced digital predistortion techniques were employed to mitigate amplifier non-linearities, ensuring robust, high-fidelity signal generation. The rapid advancement of 6G, AI, and autonomous driving technologies is driving a significant demand for wide bandwidth capabilities offered by sub-THz frequencies for high-speed wireless communication and precision radar sensing. Validating these systems with high-quality modulated signals is essential for development and deployment. However, achieving high-quality signals in the sub-THz range has been challenging due to the complexities of amplifying signals and managing distortion at higher power levels. The collaboration between Keysight, NTT, and NTT Innovative Devices successfully demonstrated the power amplifier's effectiveness in the 300-GHz frequency band. Testing confirmed its saturated power level at +9.1 dBm and achieved a 280 Gbps data rate (35 GBaud 256QAM) at 0 dBm power output — the highest data rate reported to date in the 300 GHz band. This significant achievement is largely attributed to Keysight's Vector Component Analyzer, built on the latest N524XB series PNA-X Microwave Network Analyzers equipped with digital predistortion techniques, which optimized signal integrity and minimized distortion to enable this unprecedented data transmission speed. Hirokazu Takenouchi, Vice President, Head of NTT Device Technology Laboratories, said: 'At NTT, we are consistently advancing the limits of carrier frequency and integration within radio systems. These developments are pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in wireless communication systems. The test and measurement industry is crucial in meeting the complex characterization needs of our devices. We have collaborated closely with Keysight throughout our design and verification stages. Keysight consistently provides innovative solutions in both its software and hardware platforms.' Akimasa Kaneko, Executive Vice President of NTT Innovative Devices, Photonic Components Business Group, said: 'By utilizing our InP technology and collaborating with several partners, we have achieved a remarkable maximum throughput of 280 Gbps. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in developing the broadest frequency bandwidth amplifier, enhancing energy efficiency and linearity, and addressing industry challenges.' Joe Rickert, Vice President and Head of Keysight's High Frequency Center of Excellence, said: 'This 280 Gbps world record underscores Keysight's commitment to providing the advanced test and measurement solutions critical for unlocking the potential of sub-THz frequencies for 6G. Our Vector Component Analyzer, coupled with our expertise in high-fidelity signal generation and distortion mitigation, is empowering industry leaders like NTT and NTT Innovative Devices to push the boundaries of wireless communication and realize the high-speed, high-reliability connectivity that will define the next generation of networks.' This achievement will be presented at the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2025 on June 19 th, 2025, at 10:10 am in room 211 in the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, USA. 1 Documentation of the record-breaking data rate was published in IEEE Xplore ® About Keysight Technologies At Keysight (NYSE: KEYS), we inspire and empower innovators to bring world-changing technologies to life. ‘Govt of being inconsiderate towards anganwadi workers': Protesters in Ludhiana demand better remuneration
Ludhiana: Anganwadi workers staged a four-hour-long protest against the central and state govts in front of Gate No.1 of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), pressing for their demands, including regularisation of jobs. The protesters also carried out a rally on Malhar Road and raised slogans against the govts. There are around 54,000 anganwadi workers in Punjab and about 4,500 workers in Ludhiana district alone. Usha Rani, president of the workers' union, said before the AAP came to power in the state, the party had promised to double the wages of Anganwadi workers and helpers. However, despite these commitments, no such changes have been implemented. "Even in today's time of soaring inflation, anganwadi workers earn only around Rs 10,000 a month, while helpers are paid just Rs 5,350," she said. She added that the workers, most of whom come from economically weaker sections, have been surviving on these meagre wages for years. "It is frustrating that the govt has continued to ignore our long-pending demands. The promises made to us have remained just words, with no action on the ground," she said, accusing the govt of being inconsiderate towards anganwadi workers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo They also expressed concern that the govt's decision to admit children directly to pre-primary classes would significantly reduce their workload, as anganwadi workers are primarily responsible for the care and development of children up to six years of age. They suggested that, following the Karnataka govt's model, nursery and LKG education should be conducted through anganwadi centres, and an Anganwadi Leaving Certificate should be made mandatory for admission to primary school. Additionally, they demanded that, in line with the New Education Policy, anganwadi workers and helpers be given the status of Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) teachers for their role in pre-primary education. They also demanded that on the lines of the govt of Karnataka and Gujarat, Anganwadi workers in Punjab, should also be given gratuity upon retirement. The anganwadi workers said the Centre has been monitoring their performance through the Poshan Tracker app, which tracks data related to children aged 0 to 6, including growth monitoring and pre-school education. Though the Centre allocated funds twice since 2016 for mobile phones to aid this work, the workers said the state govt has not released the money. "Most of us belong to economically weaker sections and cannot afford smartphones, which are essential for completing digital tasks," said Anita, an anganwadi worker. "Those who have smartphones had to buy them on their own. The govt must release the funds so we can purchase the required devices." Union president Usha Rani added that the funds should be used to provide laptops or tablets to simplify data entry. The workers also demanded that the mandatory KYC and facial recognition requirements be scrapped immediately. They further called for better infrastructure and supply of pre-school kits at Anganwadi centres. "Anganwadis should be upgraded and made state-of-the-art to match the services we're expected to deliver," said Amarjit, another worker.
