NTPC commissions final 52 MW at Nokh Solar Project, total commercial capacity hits 60,318 MW
By Aman Shukla Published on June 22, 2025, 10:47 IST NTPC Ltd., India's largest power utility, has announced the successful commissioning of the final 52 MW capacity at its Nokh Solar PV Project (Plot-3), taking the project's total operational output to its full planned capacity of 245 MW. The latest segment—commissioned commercially at midnight on June 22, 2025—marks the second and last part of the Plot-3 facility. The first part, comprising 193 MW, had already achieved commercial operation on June 9, 2025. With this milestone, NTPC's total standalone commercial capacity has risen to 60,318 MW, while its group commercial capacity now stands at 81,420 MW. Furthermore, the company's total installed capacity has reached 60,978 MW (standalone) and 82,080 MW (group). Located in Rajasthan, the Nokh Solar PV Project is part of NTPC's broader push towards renewable energy, in line with India's clean energy transition goals. NTPC raises $750 million ECB term loan
NTPC Ltd. has signed a Facility Agreement to raise an unsecured $750 million External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) Syndicated Term Loan facility (base issue of $500 million and greenshoe option of $250 million) with door-to-door Tenor of 10 years and average maturity of 7 years. Bank of Baroda (Bank) acted as the mandated lead arranger and underwriter of the transaction for $500 million, while HDFC Bank was the mandated lead arranger and bookrunner for the greenshoe portion of $250 million. The deal was executed through the IFSC Banking Units (IBU) of Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, according to a statement. The proceeds of the facility will be utilised towards financing of NTPC's capital expenditure for existing or new capacity addition programmes, including flue gas desulphurisation projects, renewable energy projects (including hydro-based projects) and refinancing of existing External Commercial Borrowing for capital expenditure purposes. Jaikumar Srinivasan, Director (Finance), NTPC Ltd said, 'The company is spearheading a transformative expansion of its energy portfolio, with a strategic vision to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032 and elevate its total installed capacity from 80 GW to 130 GW+. PM Modi to lay foundation for ₹29,948 crore NTPC thermal power plant in Bihar
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of NTPC's Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II (3x800 MW) in Bihar's Aurangabad district on May 30. The ₹29,948 crore project is based on Ultra-Supercritical Technology and aims to boost energy supply in Bihar and other states. The power generated will be supplied to Bihar and beneficiary states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab. The project will also employ a Dry Bottom ash handling system and air-cooled condenser, aimed at reducing freshwater consumption for power generation. The facility is designed to meet rising power demand from industries, communities, and businesses in Eastern India and is expected to contribute to national goals of energy security and affordability. NTPC Ltd., with an installed power generation capacity of over 80 GW, currently has 32 GW under construction, including 13 GW of renewable energy. The company has set a target of achieving 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032. The Nabinagar Stage-II project aligns with NTPC's ongoing initiatives in expanding thermal, hydro, solar, and wind capacities across the country.
