Thennur UPHC in Tiruchi gets NQAS certification
The Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at Thennur in Tiruchi has received the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for upholding high standards of quality. The UPHC secured 90.52% and fulfilled all requirements for the certification. The facility received accreditation for adhering to the highest standards in healthcare, especially in parameters such as preventive and curative services, providing services as per local needs, maintenance and upkeep of equipment and infrastructure, diagnostic services, newborn and childcare, immunisation, implementing strict hand hygiene for employees and asepsis, waste management etc. It is the sixth UPHC to receive NQAS certification in Tiruchi. A national assessment team inspected the centre on June 9 and 10 for an assessment before certification was issued. Specialists assessed the quality of infrastructure, including services offered to expectant mothers and newborns, treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases, and the cleanliness of the health centre that caters to the needs of the people residing in the locality. As a result, the UPHC has won a cash reward of ₹3 lakh. About 25% of the prize money will be given as incentives to the healthcare workers at the centre, and the rest will be used for patient welfare and the development of the UPHC. According to M. Vijay Chandran, City Health Officer, the UPHC caters to a population of 58,752 in the area, and around 90% of the people have been screened for non-communicable diseases. The health centre, on an average, handles around 250 to 300 patients a day and conducts two deliveries a month. It has a doctor, four staff nurses, five urban health nurses, a sector health nurse, a pharmacist, a lab technician, and four multipurpose health workers. The two-storey facility has three beds for males and infants and a six-bedded labour ward. It has additional buildings for labs, pharmacy and medicine storage. The centre offers treatment in general medicine, maternity health, newborn and child care, immunisation, family planning, communicable disease, non-communicable disease, accident and emergency. The NQAS teams are scheduled to assess the UPHCs in Kamaraj Nagar, Woraiyur, MK Kottai and East Boulevard Road in the coming weeks.

Thennur UPHC gets NQAS certification
Trichy: Trichy corporation's Thennur urban primary health centre (UPHC) was accredited with the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) for maintaining standard medical infrastructure and providing quality healthcare. The centre secured an overall score of 90.5%. A team of two doctors conducted an assessment involving document verifications, interviewing medical officers, nurses, and patients at the UPHC on June 9 and 10, and it provided scores for 35 sub-components. In parameters such as preventive and curative services, providing services as per local needs, maintenance and upkeep of equipment, diagnostic services, and newborn and childcare, the UPHC scored above 90% marks. However, in parameters such as services covered under the national health programme, adequate staff, continuity of care and management of records, family planning services, and sexual health services, it scored below 90% marks. Health officer M Vijay Chandran said around 25% of the 3 lakh reward will be used for providing incentives to staff and remaining to improve the infrastructure of the UPHC.

8 Mizoram govt health facilities among best hosps in India
1 2 Aizawl: Eight govt health facilities from Mizoram have been ranked among the best-performing public hospitals in the country under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). According to Lily Chhakchhuak, state mission director of the National Health Mission under the health & family welfare department, the newly accredited facilities include Kawnpui Primary Health Centre (PHC) (91.42%), Pangzawl PHC (96.26%), Chhingchhip PHC (93.80%), Hrangchalkawn UPHC (93.35%), Lungsen PHC (88.22%), Cherhlun PHC (89.66%), Sangau PHC (89.03%), and Chhuarlung PHC (95.30%). With the latest recognition, Mizoram now has 19 PHCs and 3 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) holding the NQAS national certification. Additionally, 12 more govt health facilities that have already earned state-level certification are currently undergoing the process for national-level assessment. Health minister Lalrinpuii lauded the achievement as a milestone for Mizoram, reflecting the dedication and hard work of doctors and healthcare staff.

1 2 Varanasi: So far, the govt of India certified 104 medical units in Varanasi with the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), setting a new standard across the country. Chief medical officer, Dr Sandeep Chaudhary, said that there is continuous expansion and strengthening of medical and health facilities at the community level. Keeping 'Health is the ultimate wealth' in mind, Ayushman Arogya temples operating near homes are increasing access to better health services in the community. The CMO expressed happiness and thanked the district administration for their support. He said that a total of 104 medical units in the district, including Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional Hospital, Community Health Center Cholapur, 10 urban and rural primary health centers, and 92 Ayushman Arogya Temples (health sub-centers), were certified with the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). "This remarkable achievement reflects our collective commitment, dedicated efforts, and special focus on quality in health services," he said. NQAS team inspects Thennur UPHC in Trichy
Trichy: A team of two doctors deputed by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) inspected Thennur urban primary health centre (UPHC) in Trichy on Monday to assess it for National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification. Doctors Amit Prakash Sharma and S Gireesh Kumar interviewed the medical officer, nurses, and patients. They team health service provision, patients' rights, biomedical waste management, service quality management, and laboratory services of the UPHC. They would inspect documents and records maintained by the health centre on Tuesday. As of now, five out of 18 UPHCs managed by the urban local body have obtained the NQAS certification. Trichy corporation plans to obtain the certificate for remaining UPHCs within Jan 2026. The certification comes with a cash reward of 3 lakh, which can be used to develop the centre's infrastructure and procure diagnostic devices.
