Iconic '90s Rocker, 60, Shares Surprising Memory of Late Music Legend

Iconic '90s Rocker, 60, Shares Surprising Memory of Late Music Legend originally appeared on Parade. As the frontman for the groundbreaking band Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor was one of the most iconic musicians of the '90s — but that doesn't mean he lost the ability to be completely starstruck by other legendary rock stars. In a recent interview, Reznor, 60, recalled seeing David Bowie sing his song "Hurt" live when NIN opened for the late musician on the 1995 "Outside" tour, which featured Reznor and Bowie collaborating during each other's sets. "We would sing it live onstage together," Reznor said in a clip shared to TikTok this week, adding, "and I distinctly remember standing onstage, looking over, and David Bowie, you know, singing my song with me, and thought, man, how the f— know, how is this happening?" Fans in the comments loved hearing Reznor reminisce about the unforgettable experience. "The two loves of my life NIN and David Bowie. love it!" one person raved. "What a moment," somebody pointed out, as another gushed, "still have a major crush on him." "This is the man, you listen when he speaks," declared someone else. Reznor, now an Academy Award-winning soundtrack composer, opened up about Bowie's influence — both musical and otherwise — in a 2021 interview with Consequence of Sound, admitting that he was both "terrified and intimidated" to go on tour with the "Space Oddity" singer, who died in 2016 at the age of 69. "What really left the biggest impression on me was there I was in a bad state of addiction and kind of going down the toilet," he revealed. "And he was on the other end to have come out of it. And there were the few kind of big brother/fatherly times where he'd call me aside and kind of get on my sh—t: 'You need to get your sh—t together. It doesn't have to end up down there.' He didn't say this, but look at where he was. He was happy. He was still taking chances."Iconic '90s Rocker, 60, Shares Surprising Memory of Late Music Legend first appeared on Parade on Jun 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Iconic ‘90s Rock Band Plays Classic Songs for First Time in Decades

Iconic '90s Rock Band Plays Classic Songs for First Time in Decades originally appeared on Parade. Even though Trent Reznor is a two-time Academy Award-winning composer, the 60-year-old still has some of that industrial angst that propelled him to rock greatness as the leader of Nine Inch Nails. And at the kickoff show for the band's Peel It Back tour, Reznor and crew revisited some of NIN's songs that made them legends in the 1990s, including some that haven't been played in decades. Reznor formed the group in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. Their debut album, 1989's Pretty Hate Machine, resonated with Gen X listeners (and MTV viewers who tuned in to videos for 'Head Like A Hole' and 'Down in It'). The band then achieved unprecedented mainstream success in '94 with their second album, The Downward Spiral. The critically acclaimed LP spawned 'Closer,' arguably Nine Inch Nails' most well-known song. NIN revisited another Downward Spiral classic at the start of their June 15 concert at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. After playing 'Right Where It Belongs' (from With Teeth) that the band mixed with 'Somewhat Damaged (from The Fragile), Nine Inch Nails segued into 'Ruiner' and 'Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now).' It was the first time that the band played any of these songs live since 2009, according to The night also featured an appearance from Boys Noize, a German dance producer who's opening for NIN on the Peel It Back tour. Boys Noise also remixed Renzor and Atticus Ross' Challengers score, according to Stereogum. The producer accompanied the band in performances of 'Vessel' and 'Came Back Haunted,' as well as 'Parasite' – from Reznor and Ross's side-project, How To Destroy Angels. The Peel It Back Tour is Nine Inch Nails' first major tour since 2022. The opening night's performance featured classic NIN tracks, including 'Reptile,' 'Wish,' 'March of the Pigs,' and 'I'm Afraid of Americans,' the song that Reznor did with David Bowie. Recently, Reznor shared a personal memory of the late music icon, recalling a shocking moment when Bowie attended one of Nine Inch Nails' shows in 1995. The admission left fans reeling. NIN study finds bamboo rice eases rheumatoid arthritis symptoms

Hyderabad: Bamboo rice, the edible seeds of Bambusa arundinacea, demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in a study conducted on laboratory rats which were experimentally induced with rheumatoid arthritis by researchers from the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad. The study, led by Rajendran Ananthan from the division of food chemistry, appeared in the May 2025 edition of 'Food and Humanity of Science Direct'. It examined the impact of bamboo rice on live Wistar rats induced with arthritis. Though these findings are limited to animal models, they support traditional beliefs among tribal communities in India's Southwestern Ghats, where bamboo rice is used to manage joint pain and inflammation. The authors emphasise that while the data point toward therapeutic value, further studies are required to explore the bioavailability and specific mechanisms of action of the grain's active compounds. Over 55 days, the rats were given diets containing varying proportions of bamboo rice flour, alongside standard treatment with indomethacin. Researchers observed significant reductions in paw swelling, improved body weight, and normalised spleen indices in rats treated with bamboo rice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Histological examination of ankle joints confirmed a reduction in pannus formation, synovial hyperplasia, and inflammation. Radiological and biochemical tests supported these results. Gene expression analysis revealed that bamboo rice suppressed levels of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a cytokine associated with inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis. The grain's rich phytochemical content, including flavonoids and phytosterols, was identified as a likely contributor to its observed therapeutic effects. The study also examined the influence of bamboo rice on serum Rheumatoid Factor (RF), an important marker in the diagnosis and progression of rheumatoid arthritis. While baseline RF levels in arthritic rats were only modestly elevated, medium and high-dose bamboo rice groups showed a significant reduction. This aligns with the outcomes of similar studies involving natural plant extracts. This preliminary research offers a scientific basis for the traditional use of bamboo rice and suggests its potential role as a dietary intervention in managing rheumatoid arthritis.

Nutrition bars to be given to adolescent girls to address anaemia

The Telangana government, on Thursday, launched a scheme to provide nutrition bars, made of peanuts and millets, to address anaemia among adolescent girls (14-18 years). Each bar consists of 600 calories, 18-20 grams of protein and necessary micronutrients. Anaemia can result in weakness, diminished physical and mental capacity, maternal mortality, increased morbidity from infectious diseases, perinatal mortality, premature delivery, low birth weight, and (in children) impaired cognitive performance, motor development, and scholastic achievement, according to National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-5 report. Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya launched the scheme titled Indiramma Amrutham on a pilot project basis, which would be implemented in Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Jayashankar Bhupalapally districts, where there are more cases of anaemia. The scheme was designed in consultation with the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). It would benefit 50,269 girls: 23,399 in Bhadradri Kothagudem, 18,230 in Asifabad and 8,640 in Jayashankar Bhupalapally. Depending on the feedback, it would be extended to other districts. Two free packets would be given to each through Anganwadi centres, and each packet will have 15 nutrition bars. 'Anaemia is a condition that is marked by low levels of haemoglobin in blood. Iron deficiency is estimated to be responsible for about half of all anaemia globally, but anaemia can also be caused by malaria, hookworms and other helminths, other nutritional deficiencies, chronic infections, and genetic conditions,' according to the NFHS report. Prevalence in Telangana According to the report, 58% of women in Telangana have anaemia. It was particularly high among rural women, women aged 15-19, and Scheduled Tribe women. More than two-thirds (70%) of children aged 6-59 months are anaemic. Some parents consult dieticians with a complaint that though iron rich foods were given, the mineral is deficient in their children. Dietitian Shubhangi Surana, founder, Rainbow Nutrition Clinic in Secunderabad, said that what people have along with the foods plays a role in absorption of iron. 'Incorporate Vitamin C when eating Iron. It always helps. Lemon, Guava, Tamarind, Tomatoes - to an extent - are sources of vitamin C. Calcium is antagonist to iron. So avoid Calcium rich foods with iron,' said Ms. Surana. Abitha Chilkuri, dietician and nutritionist, said that coffee and tea with milk contains toxins that bind with dietary iron and make it unavailable for absorption. 'They should be avoided for at least an hour before, during or immediately after a meal,' she said. Ms. Surana said that Calcium (for bone development), Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Iodine, fiber are other nutritional requirements for the girls in the age group. In order to achieve optimum growth, bone mass, muscle mass and overall good health without any vitamin and mineral deficiencies and to improve longevity adolescents must consume food that is rich in calcium such as finger millet(ragi), green leafy vegetables like amaranth, sesame seeds, milk and milk products, said Ms. Abitha.
