3-gun salute for Chitampalli, condolence meet in Solapur on June 22

Kolhapur: Maruti Chitampalli, the renowned naturalist, wildlife conservationist and Marathi author and recipient of the Padma Shri award , received a three-gun salute at a Solapur crematorium before his pyre was lit by his relatives. Chitampalli, who was known as Aranya Rishi, died on Wednesday at 93 years of age. His mortal remains, draped in the Indian tricolour, were taken in a morning procession before cremation. Following Solapur community traditions, Halgi players led the procession with drums and trumpets. Ambadas Kankatti, a vocaliser, honoured Chitampalli by mimicking various bird and animal sounds. The funeral was attended by prominent figures, including district guardian minister Jaykumar Gore and district collector Kumar Ashirwad. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis posted on X: "He lived like a monk, he knew 13 languages, and expressed many wonders of nature in words. He told the language of birds, he put into words the knowledge possessed by the tribals. He wrote Vanopanishad and Pakshikosh, which will stay with us forever. " NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar wrote on X: "He spent his entire life in the trees and in the company of books. He brought the talk of birds, the life of animals, the sensation of trees, and the heartbeat of the forest into 21 books. He contributed to the development of Karnala Bird Sanctuary, Navegaon National Park, Nagzira Sanctuary, and Melghat Tiger Project." A condolence meet is scheduled for June 22, where attendees will share their memories of Chitampalli.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's rule will always be treated as people's rule: Pawar

Pune: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj empire would always be remembered as "people's rule". Pawar was speaking at an award ceremony held by the Sahyadri Foundation in Bhugaon, where history scholars, including Jaysingrao Pawar and A H Salukhe, were honoured with the 'Shiv Swarajya Bhushan' award. "These two historians tried to put forward the real history of Maharashtra, while some so-called scholars tried to distort the history," Pawar said. Baramati MP Supriya Sule of NCP (SP) and Congress MP from Kolhapur Shahu Chhatrapati were also on the dais. Pawar said many kings and kingdoms ruled the nation and Delhi. The majority of them were named after the rulers like Mughals, Qutub Shahi, Nijamshahi and King of Devagiri. "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's rule was never known as the rule of Bhosales. It was always a rule of the public and it was Hindavi Swaraj. He always tried to unite people and bring people's rule. It gave confidence to common people. That is why we look at the Shiv Chhatrapati as the 'Yug Purush' (the man of the era)," he said. The NCP (SP) chief said the real history of Maharashtra would be inspirational for the new generations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Won't ally with those who've gone with BJP, says Pawar Sr

Pune: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday ruled out any possibility of an alliance with BJP or parties aligned with it, including the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, for the upcoming civic elections. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Addressing party workers in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pawar said NCP (SP) would align only with those who follow the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Shahu Maharaj and Jyotiba Phule. Without mentioning nephew Ajit Pawar, he said the party would not go with those who joined BJP-led govt for power. "Somebody mentioned in the speech that we should take everyone along. I agree — if by 'everyone' you mean those who follow the ideology of Gandhi, Nehru, Yashwantrao Chavan and Phule-Shahu. But if you are saying that one should go with BJP for power, then that does not align with the ideology of Congress. You can maintain relations with anyone, but aligning with BJP is not acceptable. We will not promote politics of opportunism and take steps towards that direction," Pawar said. NCP chief Ajit Pawar refused to react to Pawar's statement. "Everyone has the freedom to express his/her opinion," he said. Pawar Senior said many people raised concerns about the future of the party after the split, but young leaders came forward and NCP (SP) remained strong. "Some people have left the party and some new faces are joining. Do not worry about those who have left. In my political career, I witnessed similar developments on multiple occasions," he said, referring to the situation he faced in 1980. Pawar was the chief minister of Maharashtra then. All elected MLAs from his party, except six, had defected, leading to the collapse of the govt. The NCP (SP) chief said his party would give opportunities to more new faces in the upcoming civic elections. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "We will contest all seats. If anyone wants to join us and accept the ideology we follow with an aim to work for development of Pimpri Chinchwad, the party leadership will take a decision on it," he said. Pawar said the development of Pimpri Chinchwad happened when the parties that follow Nehru and Gandhi's ideology were in office. He said people with the same ideology must come to office in the municipal corporation for further development of the city.

Slain Beed sarpanch's daughter praised for success in NEET

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Vaibhavi Deshmukh, daughter of the late Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh from Beed district, is receiving widespread commendation for scoring 147 marks in NEET — a remarkable achievement given the challenges she faced. Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar lauded Vaibhavi's success, calling it more than just an academic accomplishment. He emphasized that her story serves as a powerful lesson on facing adversity and achieving one's goals. "Your success will inspire the new generation. Vaibhavi, your achievement can't be measured in terms of marks alone. Even in the most adverse circumstances, you didn't get discouraged or distracted. By overcoming sorrow with patience and hard work, you pursued your dream and saw it through," Pawar said in a post on X. The deputy CM praised Vaibhavi's admirable determination, perseverance, and maturity, offering his best wishes for her future educational endeavours. Vaibhavi shared with the media that she received congratulatory calls from various prominent figures, including deputy CM Eknath Shinde and NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo "I am getting calls from many, but I miss my father, who is not with me right now, to pat me on my back. The entire state, our community, stood behind me, and I expected such support to fulfil my father's dream for me," Vaibhavi said. She added that the blessings of her father would remain with her forever, even if he is not physically present with her. The Massajog sarpanch was allegedly abducted, brutally tortured, and eventually murdered on Dec 9 last year for resisting a multi-crore extortion bid on a private energy company. Meanwhile, the Deshmukh family and Masaajog villagers have postponed their sit-in agitation they planned from Monday.
