Carrie Preston Teases Her ‘Elsbeth' Guest Star Wish List: 'Pretty Much Everybody On Broadway'
After reuniting with some of Elsbeth's biggest guests for a star-studded musical Season 2 finale, Carrie Preston is ready to apprehend more of the Great White Way. While attending last weekend's 78th Tony Awards, the Emmy-winning actress teased who from Broadway she'd like to work with on an upcoming season of the CBS procedural comedy drama. More from Deadline 'Elsbeth' Boss & Carrie Preston Talk Big Musical Finale, Saying Goodbye To Kaya As She Pivots To New Job 'Elsbeth' Boss Talks Kaya's Shocking Promotion As Carra Patterson Pivots To Guest Star, Christine Baranski, & Musical Season Finale Mariel Molino & Austin Stowell On Their Hopes For 'NCIS: Origins', The Big Season 1 Scenes & Who Should Play The Older Lala 'There's so many people on this red carpet that I've met tonight or that I know. I always ask them, 'Do you wanna be on the show? Because I'll pass it along,'' she told Us Weekly at the awards show. Preston added, 'So I saw Brooke Shields tonight. I saw Celia Keenan-Bolger tonight. Of course Cole Escola. I'd like to see if we can round up pretty much everybody on Broadway and get them on.' The interview came shortly before Escola made history as the first openly non-binary Tony Winner, taking home Lead Actor in a Play for their hilarious take on Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary!, which they also wrote. Elsebeth's Season 2 finale 'Ramen Holiday' brought back guest stars Stephen Moyer, Retta, Gina Gershon, Elizabeth Lail, Arian Moayed, André De Shields, Alyssa Milano, Mary-Louise Parker and Ethan Slater for the musical episode. 'We were trying to get maybe four of these guest stars, but we got eight,' Preston previously told Deadline. 'They wanted to come back and play with us, which was such an honor. It just meant the world to me that they wanted to be a part of it, and they were all so game.' Executive producer Jonathan Tolins told Deadline of the episode's Chicago tribute, 'The two hardest parts were the scheduling and waiting to be granted the rights to use the 'Cell Block Tango'. We prepared as if they were going to say yes, and fortunately, in the end, they did, because we went a long way on a limb getting ready for it, and getting the number together.' NCIS Season 23: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 6, 2025, 19:00 IST Last updated June 6, 2025, 12:41 IST NCIS , the long-running CBS procedural drama, continues to captivate audiences with its compelling mix of crime-solving, character-driven storytelling, and military intrigue. With Season 22 concluding on May 5, 2025, fans are eagerly anticipating NCIS Season 23. Here's everything we know so far about the release date, cast, plot details, and more. NCIS Season 23 Release Date Speculation CBS confirmed the renewal of NCIS for Season 23 in February 2025, alongside other franchise shows like NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney . While an exact premiere date has not been announced, the series has historically been a fall staple. Based on previous seasons, such as Season 22's premiere on October 14, 2024, and industry reports, NCIS Season 23 is expected to debut in late September or early October 2025. Some reports speculate a potential premiere as early as August 11, 2025, though this seems optimistic given CBS's typical scheduling. The show will likely return to its new Tuesday 8/7c slot, following its shift from Mondays in the 2025-2026 lineup, as noted by TV Insider . NCIS Season 23 Cast: Who's Returning? The NCIS Season 23 cast is expected to feature the core team from Season 22, as no major departures were reported following the finale. The main cast members likely to return include: Gary Cole as Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker Sean Murray as Senior Special Agent Timothy McGee Wilmer Valderrama as Special Agent Nicholas 'Nick' Torres Katrina Law as Special Agent Jessica Knight Brian Dietzen as Dr. Jimmy Palmer Diona Reasonover as Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines Rocky Carroll as NCIS Director Leon Vance NCIS Season 23 Plot Details: What to Expect? As a procedural drama, NCIS Season 23 will likely continue its case-of-the-week format, with each episode introducing standalone mysteries tied to Navy or Marine Corps crimes. However, the Season 22 finale set up a significant overarching narrative that will drive Season 23's plot, particularly centered on Alden Parker (Gary Cole) and his pursuit of Carla Marino (Rebecca De Mornay). The Season 22 finale revealed a devastating twist: Carla Marino, Parker's longtime nemesis, is likely responsible for the murder of his father, Roman Parker (Francis X. McCarthy), as suggested by a lipstick stain on a wine glass. This personal tragedy will push Parker into 'very dark places,' according to TV Insider , setting the stage for an emotionally charged arc. The team's hunt for Marino, connected to a high-stakes plot involving stolen nuclear material and the Nexus cartel, will likely dominate the season's narrative. Who Should Watson Save: Adams or Stephens? Heading Into Finale, We Make the Cast Choose
Moriarty's diabolical intervention in Watson's lab claimed two victims by the end of Episode 12 — the last installment of the CBS drama before its Season 1 finale this Sunday (9/8c). As the hour came to a close, twin brothers/researchers Stephens and Adams Croft fell into comas resulting from some virus-related tomfoolery orchestrated by Watson's nemesis. And then, adding insult to illness, Moriarty's meddling also meant that there wasn't enough matter with which to create enough experimental serum for both brothers (thanks, Ingrid!). So by episode's end, Watson wrestled with the notion that his medicine would only be able to bring one Croft back from the brink. An A-to-Z List of 300+ Scripted Series View List 'As someone who may or may not be in love with Stephens, I would definitely say 'Stephens,'' Inga Schlingmann, who plays Sasha, said immediately. 'So that's very biased, but also very honest.' (And if you saw Sasha and Stephens' sweet bedside admission of affection in last week's episode, can you blame her?) Conversely, 'I have to pick Adams, because I live in Los Angeles, and I'm really into all the woo-woo s–t,' joked Eve Harlow, who plays Ingrid. On a more upbeat note: As TVLine exclusively reported in April, the Season 1 finale also will introduce Tika Sumpter (The Haves and the Have Nots, One Life to Live) as Laila, a pediatric oncologist will catch Watson's eye. NCIS: Origins Stars Pitch a Ghosts Crossover for Dead (?) Lala — WATCH
The following contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale, now streaming on Paramount+. Whatever the fate of Special Agent Lala Dominguez, NCIS: Origins star Mariel Molino is determined to stay in the CBS family. More from TVLine Burning Fire Country Finale Question, Answered: Where Were All the Masks? Elsbeth's Carrie Preston, EP Talk Finale's 'Crazy,' Star-Studded Musical Number and Filling the Kaya Void Ghosts EPs Talk Finale's 'Perilous' Jay Cliffhanger, Pete and Alberta's Big Moment - Plus, Grade It! As NCIS: Origins' freshman run drew to a close on April 28, Lala was on her way to find 'probie' Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) at the family home he is readying to finally sell — to deliver the news that she convince MP investigator to not arrest him for the murder of cartel boss Pedro Hernandez — when a small girl darted out into the road. Lala steered to miss the child, and flipped her Jeep in the process. Lala was last seen dangling upside down in the driver's seat, bleeding profusely. It's easy to assume that Lala died on the spot (and I've said a lot on why that'd be the very best version of the powerful and heartbreaking finale), but Origins showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal are not confirming the character's fate, yet. Now that Lala's mortality has been called into question, TVLine checked in with Molino again, at Wednesday night's CBS Fest '25 event celebrating the network's recently revealed 2025-26 schedule. 'Oh, man…. I hope she comes back. I hope that she's alive,' Molino said, standing with co-stars Stowell and Kyle Schmid. 'But who knows. '[The] NCIS [franchise] has taken big swings before with characters and their futures, so it's tough to say, the actress added. 'Turn on those candles and pray, please!' Schmid noted that Molino has another gig lined up — she'll appear in Season 2 of Max's Vgly, due out this fall — while Stowell said that, worst case for Lala, 'the back-up plan is to move her over to Ghosts,' which of course also airs on CBS. 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll be a ghost on Ghosts. I can always be on Ghosts,' Molino nodded. That, or, 'Lala's ghost gets a spinoff,' she quipped. Want scoop on , or for any other TV show?
