2026 FIFA World Cup countdown clock to be unveiled in Philadelphia
The countdown to World Cup soccer is officially on. Wednesday, June 11, marks one year until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be played in cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Philadelphia is among the host cities preparing to welcome soccer fans from around the world next year. To celebrate, city leaders are unveiling the FIFA World Cup countdown clock in Dilworth Park Wednesday morning. The year 2026 is shaping up to be a busy one for the City of Brotherly Love. Along with hosting five of the World Cup's Group Stage matches, Philadelphia is the site of the MLB All-Star Game, NCAA March Madness and the PGA Championship, and is set to host a large slate of other events to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. Philadelphia hosting FIFA Club World Cup Before the official 2026 FIFA World Cup, there will be plenty of soccer to watch in Philadelphia in 2025. Philadelphia is hosting eight matches in the new FIFA Club World Cup tournament, which will be played at Lincoln Financial Field from June 16 through July 4. Stockton University in Galloway Township, New Jersey, will serve as one of the training sites for the players and staff of Brazil's CR Flamengo, which has millions of followers worldwide.

That's right, as if games weren't slowed down enough by referees looking at monitors towards the end of games to review everything from who touched the ball last going out of bounds to seemingly a broken nail, now the NCAA has approved coaches' challenges that will begin with this winter's basketball season, similar to what the NBA allows. Beginning in the 2025-2026 basketball season, coaches will be allowed at most two challenges per game. Teams must have a timeout remaining to do so, and if the challenge is successful, the coach will be allowed one more for the rest of the game -- including overtime. However, if the challenge is not successful, the coach will not be allowed to challenge another call for the rest of the game. But here's the rub: officials will still be able to stop play to review calls to make sure they get them right within the last two minutes of the game and overtime. It has disrupted many games in the recent past and caused some serious frustration with fans and other onlookers. This move would allow a coach not to have to wait for an official review late in the game. At least there is a limit to how many times this can be done. Now, if only we could shut off the monitors or put a limit on how many times the officials can take over a game as the sands of the hourglass run out. 2025 NBA Draft: Cooper Flagg headlines rookies who could matter for fantasy basketball this season
The 2025 NBA Draft is just under a month away, and with the combine wrapped up, Yahoo Sports NBA Senior Analyst Kevin O'Connor dropped his latest mock draft last week. The 2025 draft class is deeper and more talented than last year's rookies, so I want to highlight the prospects whose projected landing spots in KOC's mock could become interesting for fantasy basketball leagues next season. I can't say enough how much I like Flagg's opportunity to contribute immediately. With his defense, athleticism and scoring efficiency, he projects as a multi-category fantasy asset. The 3s are the question mark, but there's a sneaky playmaking upside, too. He is the modern Mr. Fundamental — a smart hooper who can facilitate, cut and make the right basketball play more often than not. I love this defense from Asa Newell. This is the type of stuff we saw from him more at Montverde. Cedric Coward is EASILY one of the biggest winners of the combineHe's shot well in drills, has a freaky 7'2' wing span at 6'5' and tested great athletically too with a 38.5' max vertHe's a career 38.6% 3PT shooter in college and there's a big chance he stays in the draft now — Point Made Basketball (@pointmadebball) May 13, 2025 He's a late bloomer with a damn-near-perfect shot and a large wingspan who prides himself on the defensive end. It may sound like gas, but he gives me Kawhi Leonard vibes. The backcourt in Los Angeles is aging, and injuries are known saboteurs. Pettiford is the ideal match as a Brandon Jennings-lite with the speed, scoring, hops and creation that would ignite the team's bench. Most rookies with his profile tend to be inefficient, but he can still light it up in a reserve role. It's too early for consideration in redraft leagues, but dynasty managers should take notice.
