ROP arrests three for trafficking, 47 women for immoral acts

Muscat: Three people, including an Omani citizen and two Egyptian nationals, have been arrested on charges of human trafficking in Muscat. The operation was carried out by the Muscat Governorate Police Command in cooperation with the Special Taskforce Police Command. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) also arrested 47 women of various nationalities for engaging in acts contrary to public morals and decency. The group comprised 21 Egyptian nationals, 10 Iranians, eight Pakistanis, four Thais, two Uzbeks and two Moroccans. The ROP said legal action is being taken against all those involved, and investigations are continuing.

Muscat: More than 30 foreigners have been arrested for violating labor and foreign residency laws in Muscat Governorate, said the Royal Oman Police (ROP). ROP said in a statement: "Muscat Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Police Special Task force Command, conducted an inspection campaign in the Wilayat of Bausher and apprehended 36 expatriates violating labour and foreign residency laws, including eighteen individuals of Bangladeshi nationality, five of Pakistani nationality, four of Indian nationality, four others of Egyptian nationality, three of Yemeni nationality, one of Iraqi nationality, and one of Jordanian nationality. Legal procedures are being completed."

Staff Reporter Muscat, March 24 The Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Al Batinah South Governorate Police Command, foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 20 kilogrammes of crystal meth and marijuana and arrested three persons including an Asian national, for possessing drugs intended for trafficking. Meanwhile, the Muscat Governorate Police Command seized 9 motorcycles their owners used to display dangerous stunts on roads endangering people's lives and disturbing public peace. The Directorate-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations arrested three people for stealing cash and gold jewellery from a house in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali. Police also seized narcotics from the arrestees. The Al Sharqiyah North Governorate Police Command arrested two people for possessing fireworks for the purpose of trafficking. They smuggled them and stored them in a commercial store in the Wilayat of Sinaw. The Al Dhahirah Governorate Police Command arrested an Asian national from the Wilayat of Yanqul for smuggling a large quantity of banned cigarettes inside his vehicle. The Al Batinah North Governorate Police Command arrested three people for stealing electrical cables from a commercial store in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah. The Al Batinah North Governorate Police Command also arrested a man for stealing livestock from a farm in the Wilayat of Suhar. The Muscat Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the Special Tasks Police Units in Bausher and Seeb, seized 65 vehicles and arrested a number of people late at night for drifting and disturbing the peace and tranquillity.
