Terra Motors Appoints L5 Dealership to Top L3 Dealers in Varanasi; 200km Range from Rs.3.65L, Zero Down Payment; Targets 100 Dealers in India
NewsVoir Gurgaon (Haryana) [India], June 18: Terra Motors, a Japanese electric vehicle OEM, has appointed its first L5 category dealer in India, marking a milestone in its nationwide expansion plan. The new dealership, M.M. Enterprises, located in Varanasi, will take charge of Terra's L5 sales and service operations in the region, offering the flagship model Kyoro+, a high-speed (L5) electric 3-wheeler designed for urban and semi-urban transport. This appointment comes in response to the overwhelming interest generated post-launch. Since the official unveiling on May 27, Terra Motors has received over 100 dealership enquiries within just two weeks. Its a signal of the market's readiness for the high-speed auto segment. Terra Motors is now actively onboarding forward-looking dealers, with a specific focus on partners from both existing L3 markets and established L5 territories. "This is more than just our first dealer appointment - it's the milestone for our aggressive expansion strategy," said Mr. Go Suzuki, Managing Director, Terra Motors India. "We are witnessing a shift in how cities approach clean mobility. With Kyoro+, we aim to lead this transformation by offering a product that is high on performance and accessible through flexible finance options like zero down payment. The appointment in Varanasi reflects the power of the product-market fit and our intent to grow rapidly across Uttar Pradesh." With many L3 (e-rickshaw) dealers facing regulatory restrictions in key city areas, Terra Motors is encouraging them to transition to the growing L5 segment. The newly appointed dealer, M.M. Enterprises, had been operating in the L3 category with one of the leading OEMs with strong sales volume, but identified the potential in L5 due to evolving local traffic norms limiting CNG and e-rickshaws on main roads. Recognising this shift, he was attracted to Terra's L5 offering. Mukhtar Ansari, proprietor of M.M. Enterprises, shared, "We're excited to partner with Terra Motors and introduce a product that ticks every box - mileage, comfort, price, and most importantly, financing for end customers." The Kyoro+ is engineered for efficiency and comfort with a range of 200 km, 5-year warranty, and on-road price starts from Rs. 3.65 lakh. Backed by Terra Finance's zero down payment offer, it becomes one of the most compelling choices in the L5 passenger vehicle category. This announcement is just the amplification of Terra Motors' aggressive dealer network expansion for the L5 segment. We're inviting established L3 dealers to upgrade with us and lead the L5 shift in your city. Be among the first in your region. The company aims to establish a strong footprint across key Indian cities by onboarding dealers with EV OEM background. Cops freeze bank a/c of Mukhtar's wife Afsha under Gangsters Act
Varanasi: The Ghazipur police on Monday began the process of freezing a bank account of Afsha Ansari, wife of late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari , under the provisions of Gangsters Act. Ghazipur Superintendent of Police Iraj Raja said that the action is a part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at destroying the economic empire of gangsters. Police detected a suspicious bank account in Afsha's name at the State Bank of India's UP Civil Secretariat branch in Lucknow. The account reportedly holds Rs 8.91 lakh. Suspecting the amount to be linked to illegal activities, police initiated proceedings to freeze it. Afsha, who is a member of the interstate-191 gang led by Mukhtar, is an absconder, and carries a cash reward of Rs 50,000. As per police records, a total of nine criminal cases, mostly related to fraud, land grabbing, criminal conspiracy, and under sections of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, are lodged against Afsha with Ghazipur police only. She was also booked under Gangsters Act twice in 2020 and 2022. Several cases are also registered against her in Mau. Afsha has evaded arrest for several years and also remained absent from Mukhtar Ansari's funeral on March 30, 2024.

Mau MLA Abbas Ansari disqualified from UP Assembly after conviction in hate speech case
Abbas Ansari, an MLA from Uttar Pradesh's Mau constituency and son of the gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, has been disqualified from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly after a court convicted him in a hate speech case, the Hindustan Times reported on Monday. On Saturday, Chief Judicial Magistrate KP Singh sentenced Abbas Ansari, a member of the Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, to two years in prison. The court held that while the Constitution granted the right to freedom of expression, it was not unrestricted. 'No one can say anything, anywhere, anytime,' Live Law quoted Singh as having said. 'There is no place for hate or provocative speech in the political field, and it becomes serious when the intention is to create disorder on the basis of religion and thus, influencing elections directly or indirectly.' The case pertained to a statement Abbas Ansari made during an election rally in Mau in March 2022, in which he told government officials that he would 'settle scores and teach them a lesson' after the elections, PTI reported. The Election Commission had imposed a 24-hour campaign ban on him after the remark, Maktoob Media reported. A first information report was filed against Abbas Ansari under the Indian Penal Code sections related to punishment for criminal intimidation, punishment for undue influence or personation at an election, obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions, threat of injury to public servant, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, and punishment of criminal conspiracy. Apart from Abbas Ansari, the FIR also named more than 150 others, including his brother Umar Ansari and his election agent Mansoor Ahmed Ansari, according to Maktoob Media. The court on Saturday stated that Abbas Ansari had been found guilty of delivering a provocative speech, which was a serious offence. 'If senior officials appointed in the district, who are under the direct control of the Election Commission during the Model Code of Conduct period, are threatened with paybacks, then it certainly creates an indirect sense of fear among the voters as well,' Live Law quoted the bench as having said. A day later, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly issued a notification stating that Abbas Ansari had been disqualified, the Hindustan Times reported. Pradeep Dubey, the principal secretary of the Assembly, also said that the Mau seat had been declared vacant. Dubey added that the Election Commission had been informed about the vacancy and that it would issue a notification for holding an election. Abbas Ansari's father, Mukhtar Ansari, had a total of 65 cases against him and had been in jail since 2005 after he surrendered to the police in connection with a communal riot that took place in the town of Mau. On March 14 last year, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court for MPs and MLAs in the 34-year-old Ghazipur fake arms licence case. This was his seventh conviction over 18 months. The gangster-turned-politician died in custody at the Banda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on March 28, 2024. Hospital authorities said he died of a cardiac arrest. A week before his death, Mukhtar Ansari had told a court in the Barabanki district that his health had deteriorated after he was served food allegedly laced with poison inside the prison, reported PTI. He had alleged that he was poisoned 40 days earlier as well.

Mukhtar Ansari's MLA Son Removed From UP Assembly Over Hate Speech Conviction
Lucknow: MLA Abbas Ansari, son of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari has been disqualified as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly after he was convicted in a hate speech case, official sources said on Sunday. Abbas Ansari was MLA from Mau assembly constituency. The seat has now been declared vacant, the sources told PTI. Abbas Ansari, the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA, was sentenced to two years imprisonment in a 2022 hate speech case by a special MP-MLA court on Saturday. According to the prosecution, during the last assembly elections, Abbas Ansari, who was contesting as an SBSP candidate from the Mau Sadar seat, had threatened the Mau administration during a public meeting at Paharpur ground on March 3, 2022, saying he will "settle scores and teach them a lesson" after the elections. Defence lawyer Daroga Singh told PTI videos that Ansari was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 189 (threat to cause harm to public servant), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, caste, place of birth, residence and language and spoiling the harmony), 171F (undue influence in election) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Singh said after hearing both sides, special MP/MLA court Judge K P Singh convicted Abbas Ansari on Saturday and sentenced him to two years each under sections 189 and 153-A, one year under section 506 and six months imprisonment under section 171-F. All the sentences will run simultaneously. Ansari has also been fined Rs 2,000. Under the Representation of the People Act, there is a provision to terminate the membership of the legislative house if the court sentences a member to two years or more. Abbas Ansari became MLA for the first time in 2022 by winning the election from the Mau Sadar assembly seat on an SBSP ticket under the Samajwadi Party-led alliance. SBSP is currently an ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government and the party president is a cabinet minister in the state. Before that, Abbas Ansari's father, politician Mukhtar Ansari, represented the Mau Sadar assembly seat for a long time. Mukhtar Ansari, who was incarcerated in Banda district jail, died of a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh in March 2024.
