Rawalpindi Board exams conclude
Students dive into their Intermediate exams with determination and focus at APWA Government College for Women. PHOTO: JALAL QURESHI/EXPRESS The Intermediate First Annual (Theory) Examinations 2025, conducted under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, have concluded successfully. Chairman of the Board, Muhammad Adnan Khan, expressed complete satisfaction and joy over the peaceful, transparent, and merit-based conduct of the examinations. He credited the success to the vision of Punjab chief minister, the zero-tolerance policy of the Punjab government, and the guidance of provincial minister for education. The Chairman extended heartfelt appreciation to Controller of Examinations, Board Secretary, board officers and staff, Rawalpindi Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners of all districts, Director Colleges Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Directors Colleges of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Rawalpindi, Chief Executive Officers (Education) of all districts, mobile inspectors, squad chairpersons, and the entire examination staff. He praised their dedication and professionalism, which ensured the fair and transparent conduct of the exams.

Intermediate exams begin under stringent watch
The annual FA and FSc examinations started across Punjab under the supervision of nine education boards, including the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi. Chairman BISE Rawalpindi, Muhammad Adnan Khan, along with Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, visited several examination centres to inspect the arrangements. On the first day, papers in Psychology, Food and Nutrition, Military Science, and Home Economics were conducted. A total of 185 examination centres have been established in the Rawalpindi Division, with over 1,762 staff members deployed for the smooth conduct of the examinations. Under Section 144, entry of unrelated persons into the examination centres has been completely prohibited. To ensure examination transparency, CCTV cameras have been installed in all the centres, which are being monitored online. Strict action will be taken against fake candidates, who can be punished with UMC cases, fines and detention. Separate control rooms monitor the examination system in each district, while the central control room is fully functional in the board office. The district administration is fully supportive, and the lists of examination staff have been provided to the special branch.

BISE rolls out measures for fair paper marking
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has announced that several significant measures have been implemented to ensure the transparency, impartiality, and quality of the paper marking process. In a joint statement, the BISE Chairman, Muhammad Adnan Khan, and the Controller of Examinations, Tanveer Asghar Awan, stated that biometric attendance systems and CCTV cameras have been installed at all established marking centres of the Board. "These measures aim to effectively monitor the attendance, discipline, and performance of the marking staff and other related personnel." To further enhance the monitoring and transparency of the marking process, the Board has introduced an advanced Monitoring and Evaluation System, which was successfully implemented during the Inter Second Annual Examinations of 2024. This system has now been further improved and is also being applied for the Matric Annual Examinations of 2025. The system will not only monitor Head Examiners, Sub-Examiners, Supervisors, and Assistant Head Examiners, but also other relevant officers, ensuring accountability and transparency at every level. Maintaining impartiality, transparency, and merit in the marking process is the top priority, ensuring that no student faces any injustice. This system is expected to improve staff performance and further strengthen public trust in the examination system. Recently, Controller of Examinations visited the marking centres established at Government Boys Qadria Secondary School Gujar Khan and Government Girls High School Kallar Syedan and instructed the marking staff to ensure complete transparency and merit in the marking process.

Five students caught cheating in exams
Education authorities caught five students red-handed while attempting to cheat in the ongoing annual matriculation exams for grade 9 and booked them in cases on Thursday. The district administration also imposed Section 144 at all examination centres to ensure greater transparency and tighten the examination system during the ongoing annual matriculation exams for grade 9. The law prohibits the entry of irrelevant individuals, as well as the carrying of cheating materials, within 100 metres of the centres. Anyone violating this restriction will face legal action. Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE) Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan visited examination centres in Rawalpindi during the grade 9 first annual exams. He checked candidates' roll number slips and the CCTV cameras. After the visit, the chairman stated that Section 144 had been enforced at all centres, and any violation by irrelevant persons would lead to the immediate filing of an FIR. He emphasised that all centers are under strict surveillance, and efforts to prevent cheating by the "booty mafia" will continue, ensuring that merit and fairness prevail in future exams as well. Meanwhile, Examination Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan announced that the exams for the grade 9 first annual 2025 would take place as scheduled on March 28 (Friday) and April 4 (Friday).
