10 pounds of marijuana, $22K in cash seized from bust of Macomb County hookah shops
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office seized about 10 pounds of marijuana and arrested two people in connection with a drug bust of a pair of hookah and tobacco shops. On Monday, members of the Macomb County Sheriff's Enforcement Team served search warrants at Area 51 Hookah and Tobacco shops in Clinton Township and Mount Clemens, as well as at a home on Holland Avenue in Eastpointe. Authorities say they seized about 600 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, two rifles with magazines, three pistols with magazines and $22,756 in cash, as well as a Jeep Wagoneer and a Chevrolet Silverado. A 44-year-old Eastpointe man and a 33-year-old Clinton Township man were arrested. The two men are lodged at the Macomb County Jail and are expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

Woman taken into custody on child sexually abusive material investigation
A woman was taken into custody upon a report of child sexually abusive material being shared online, the Macomb County (Michigan) Sheriff's Office reported. The Macomb Area Computer Enforcement detectives, working with the Macomb County Sheriff's Enforcement Team, served a search warrant Friday in Mount Clemens on the case. The officers took the 29-year-old woman into custody without incident. MACE detectives had received information from the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that there were numerous child sexually abusive-related videos and images possibly uploaded by the suspect. Several pieces of evidence seized from the home are under review, the sheriff's office said. An arraignment is scheduled for June 16 at 41-B District Court in Clinton Township.

Body found in Clinton River under Gratiot Avenue bridge in Mount Clemens
Deputies with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office pulled a body from the Clinton River Thursday afternoon after a caller reported seeing two feet in the middle of the river. The sheriff's office responded to a call around 2:25 p.m. Thursday after a man reported spotting what appeared to be two feet in the river under the southbound Gratiot Avenue bridge in Mount Clemens. The caller also reported seeing a lot of debris in the water. Deputies responded to the river and confirmed a body was underwater. The sheriff's office's marine division removed the body from the water. Deputies have not identified the body or said if the person was a victim of a crime. An investigation is ongoing. Three Peregrine falcon chicks nesting above Old County Building in Macomb County
Three Peregrine falcon chicks that recently hatched in Mount Clemens, Michigan, have been banded and named as part of a local falconry effort. Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel, working with the Michigan Hawking Club, made the announcement Monday and provided pictures of the birds and the identification banding efforts of the weekend. Peregrine falcon chicks are nesting in Mount Clemens, Michigan. Macomb County government The chicks are several weeks old and have been named Monarch, Warthog and Cwik. The nest is above the Old County Building on North Main Street in downtown Mount Clemens. "For many years, we've worked with partners to band and protect these incredible animals here in our community," Hackel said. "While we've seen a recovery across the state, it's important that we continue to do our part and ensure these chicks have a healthy and happy start here in Mount Clemens. As always, we're proud they made Macomb their home." The species was once listed as endangered in Michigan; but about a year and a half ago the Peregrine falcon population in the state had recovered enough to be listed instead as threatened. The birds remain federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The name Monarch represents the new macost for Macomb County Community College. Warthog refers to the A-10 Warthog planes currently in the military fleet at Selfridge Air National Guard base. Cwik is in honor of the county's longtime public information officer John Cwikla. The Macomb County nest records go back 20 years, with several successful hatches and bandings. Baby falcons, called eyasses, emerge with a cover of white down before growing their feathers at a later stage. Banding normally takes place at the white down stage.
