The Sandman Season 2 Trailer: The End is Coming for Morpheus

Netflix has finally shared the Season 2 trailer for the highly anticipated final installment of the hit fantasy drama . The next installment will be divided into two parts, with Volume 1 set to premiere the first six episodes on July 3, while Volume 2 debuts the remaining five episodes on July 24. 'After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds,' reads the official Season 2 logline. 'To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything.' Hewlett Packard Enterprise received a two-pronged boost from its AI server and private cloud segments during the second quarter of its 2025 fiscal year, executives said during a Tuesday earnings call. The hardware vendor saw revenue grow 6% year over year to $7.6 billion during the three-month period ending April 30. One-third of the hardware vendor's AI orders were driven by enterprise demand for GPU-powered servers and private cloud systems, according HPE President and CEO Antonio Neri. The company signed $1.1 billion of net new AI systems orders and exited the quarter with a $3.2 billion backlog, Neri said. Enterprise AI server and networking deployments gained momentum in both on-premises and colocation data centers, according to Neri. 'What we see is customers modernizing their data center, especially because they are focused on data sovereignty and compliance,' he said. Organizations are standing up infrastructure for retrieval-augmented generation, fine tuning and inferencing, he added. As enterprises weigh their AI procurement options, the market has split between providers that are pushing customers to public cloud and vendors steering them in the direction of on-premises alternatives. SAP, Salesforce and Workday are among the enterprise software giants driving businesses to cloud-based agentic AI. Data cloud company Snowflake gave its platform an agent-oriented overhaul earlier this week. On the other side of the divide, on-premises private cloud is enjoying a concurrent resurgence. HPE rolled out upgraded versions of its Morpheus virtualization software and private cloud bundle last month and announced the HPE Private Cloud AI integration with Nvidia's enterprise AI platform. Dell, which last week reported more than $12 billion in AI server orders during the three-month period ending May 2, introduced a private cloud suite in May, too. 'We experienced exceptionally strong demand for AI-optimized servers,' Dell Vice Chairman and COO Jeff Clarke said during a Q1 2026 earnings call, noting the company shipped $1.8 billion of the units, leaving a backlog of $14.4 billion. HPE remains entrenched in the enterprise data center side of the hybrid cloud equation, as it digs out from execution challenges that triggered a 5% workforce reduction announced during a March earnings call and other remediation efforts. 'Since our last update, we have closely monitored the changes implemented to improve profitability,' Neri said Tuesday. 'This includes the rollout of new pricing analytics, increased discount scrutiny and inventory management.' The company expects to eliminate 2,500 positions by the end of the year and ended the recent quarter with a headcount under 59,000, its lowest since splitting from Hewlett-Packard in 2015, according to EVP and CFO Marie Myers. AI is integral to HPE's optimization efforts. The company will use agentic tools to improve efficiency internally, Myers said. 'Within finance, HPE and Deloitte co-developed Zuora AI CFO insights agents built on Nvidia's advanced AI stack and deployed on our own HPE private cloud AI platform,' said Myers. 'We're turning data into actionable intelligence, accelerating our reporting cycles by approximately 50% and reducing processing costs by an estimated 25%.' In a Los Angeles theater, a trench coat-wearing Neo bends backwards to dodge bullets that spiral over the viewer's head, as the sound of gunfire erupts from everywhere. This new immersive experience is designed to be a red pill moment that will get film fans off their couches at a time when the movie industry is desperate to bring back audiences. Cosm, which has venues in Los Angeles and Dallas, is launching its dome-style screen and 3D sets in June with a "shared reality" version of "The Matrix," the cult 1999 film starring Keanu Reeves as a man who suddenly learns his world is a fiction. "We believe the future will be more immersive and more experiential," said Cosm president Jeb Terry at a recent preview screening. "It's trying to create an additive, a new experience, ideally non-cannibalistic, so that the industry can continue to thrive across all formats." Cinema audiences were already dwindling when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, shuttering theaters at a time when streaming was exploding. With ever bigger and better TVs available for the home, the challenge for theater owners is to offer something that movie buffs cannot get in their living room. Prestige projects like Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning" or Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning "Oppenheimer" increasingly opt for the huge screens and superior film quality of IMAX. But Cosm and other projects like it want to go one step further, collaborating with designers who have worked with Cirque du Soleil to create an environment in which the viewer feels like they are inside the film. For filmmakers, it's all about how you place the cameras and where you capture the sound, said Jay Rinsky, founder of Little Cinema, a creative studio specializing in immersive experiences. "We create sets like the Parisian opera, let the movie be the singer, follow the tone, highlight the emotions... through light, through production design, through 3D environments," he said. The approach, he said, felt particularly well suited to "The Matrix," which he called "a masterpiece of cinema, but done as a rectangle." For the uninitiated: Reeves's Neo is a computer hacker who starts poking around in a life that doesn't quite seem to fit. A mysterious Laurence Fishburne offers him a blue pill that will leave him where he is, or a red pill that will show him he is a slave whose body is being farmed by AI machines while his conscious lives in a computer simulation. There follows much gunfire, lots of martial arts and some mysticism, along with a romance between Neo and Trinity, played by the leather-clad Carrie-Anne Moss. "The Matrix" in shared reality kicks off with a choice of cocktails -- blue or red, of course -- which are consumed as the audience sits surrounded by high-definition screens. Shifting perspectives place the viewer inside Neo's office cubicle, or seemingly in peril. "They're sometimes inside the character's head," said Rinsky. "The world changes as you look up and down for trucks coming at you." The result impressed those who were at the preview screening. "It just did feel like an experience," influencer Vince Rossi told AFP. "It felt like you're at a theme park for a movie almost."—AFP
