Montpellier set low Joris Chotard asking price
Montpellier HSC have set a low asking price for their midfielder, Joris Chotard (23), Mohamed Toubache-Ter understands. Last season, Montpellier turned down a €7m bid from Wolfsburg. Ex-Ligue 1 star rushed to hospital after being found unconscious at home with stab wound close to his heart
FRENCH league star Daniel Congre has been rushed to hospital - after being found at home with a stab wound. The central defender has made over 550 appearances for Toulouse, Montpellier and Dijon. 2 2 Congre, 40, became Lyon 's sporting coordinator after hanging up his boots last year. But emergency services raced to his home at Perols, near Montpellier, on Monday after concerns were raised for his welfare. Toulouse-born Congre was reportedly found unconscious with a severe stab wound close to his heart. Montpellier police have opened an enquiry into the incident, which took place near the city's airport. Congre joined Montpellier straight after their surprise Ligue 1 title win in 2012, and went on to captain the side. Aston Villa considered signing him in January 2016, while he had attracted interest from Crystal Palace and West Brom the previous spring. Able to operate in central defence or on either flank, he won seven Under-21 caps for France. Congre, whose parents hail from the French Caribbean, later received a senior call-up from Guadeloupe. Despite this, he failed to make their squad for the 2009 Concacaf Gold Cup. A source close to the now-retired player said on Tuesday morning that his condition had become more stable. But enquiries continue into whether Congre's injuries were self-inflicted or a third party was involved.

Ben Yedder admitted to drink-driving but claimed he did not recall the attack due to his drunken state. He was also sentenced to a fine of €5,000, a six-month driving license suspension, and to pay the victim €6,500 damages. He is currently appealing that court ruling. But now, despite these legal problems, Ben Yedder has already returned to playing football. Leaving AS Monaco behind in 2024, he signed with Iranian club Sepahan S.C. in April 2025. The deal goes through the end of the season with an option for a multi-year extension afterward. He was previously linked with a switch to Montpellier HSC and Italian club Venezia before this transfer. Michel Der Zakarian confirms SM Caen departure
Months after being sacked by Montpellier HSC, Michel Der Zakarian will once again be out of a coaching job in the coming weeks. The 62-year-old was appointed manager of SM Caen in February, with the goal of trying to dig them out a deep hole in Ligue 2 and help them avoid relegation. That did not happen with the club from Normandy, already assured of going down into Championnat National with a mere 21 points from 31 matches. The former FC Nantes, Stade de Reims, and Montpellier boss has only won one of his nine Ligue 2 matches in charge of Les Vikings, suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat last Saturday at soon-to-be-promoted FC Lorient. Caen, owned by French captain Kylian Mbappé (26) have two more matches in Ligue 2 this season, but even if they win them both they will still finish at the bottom of the table.
