5 Sunehri Bagh Road: Rahul Gandhi performs puja at new address

NEW DELHI: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has begun the process of shifting to his new official residence at Bungalow No. 5, Sunehri Bagh Road. The relocation started on the occasion of his 55th birthday on Thursday, marked by a private 'Griha Pravesh Puja'. The Type VIII bungalow, which was officially allotted to Gandhi in August last year, was previously occupied by BJP leader A. Narayanaswamy, former Minister of State for Social Justice. As per protocol, Rahul Gandhi is entitled to the bungalow in his capacity as Leader of Opposition, a post with Cabinet rank. Sources said that while the puja signifies his move, the full relocation, including belongings and office setup, will be completed before the Monsoon Session, beginning July 21. Gandhi had vacated his previous Tughlaq Lane residence in 2023. Since then, he had been living at 10, Janpath, with his mother Sonia Gandhi.

"When is PM Modi going to meet leaders of political parties?": Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi [India], June 11 (ANI): A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the all-party delegation members on India's global outreach on Operation Sindoor, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday launched sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, repeatedly asking him to conduct an all-party meeting and hold a two-day discussion in the upcoming Monsoon Session in the Parliament. Speaking to ANI, Ramesh questioned PM Modi about the potentiality of conducting an all-party meeting, setting up a review committee on Operation Sindoor, a two-day discussion during the Monsoon Session and about the efforts made to nab the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack. The Congress MP stated, 'It was natural that the Prime Minister meet all the 50 MPs who were members of these seven delegations that went to 32 countries. That was not a surprise as far as we were concerned. But we have only four simple questions. We would like the Prime Minister to answer these questions. Question number one - When will the Prime Minister chair an all-party meeting and meet the leaders? Leaders and not MPs, and take them into confidence on the internal and external security challenges that have emerged after the Pahalgam terror attack.' 'Secondly, our question is that after the Kargil war, we had a Kargil review committee... will there be a similar exercise, especially after the CDS revelations in Singapore? Will there be a review? Will there be an analysis? ... So will there be a report? Will it be tabled in Parliament? The third question is, during the Monsoon session, will the Prime Minister allow a two full-day discussion on internal and external security challenges, on China, on Pakistan, on the new emerging technologies which we have to contend with, with the challenges posed by President Trump's repeated claims...' Ramesh added. He further said, 'Our fourth question is that the Pahalgam terrorists who carried out this brutal attack are still free; they have not been brought to justice. They were responsible for the Poonch attack on December 23. They were responsible for Gagangir on October 24. They were involved in Gulmarg on October 24. These are all reports that have not been denied. So, when will these Pahalgam terrorists be brought to justice?' Speaking about PM Modi's meeting with the delegation members, he said, 'Prime Minister meeting the MPs is fine. That's his prerogative. But when is he going to meet the leaders of political parties? When is he going to announce a two-day discussion in the upcoming Parliament session?...' Earlier today, in a social media post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asked a series of questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over several issues. His remarks came after Prime Minister Modi himself met with the members of the seven Parliamentary delegations that had been sent to multiple key partner countries. The Congress asked PM Modi about the possibility of chairing an all-party meeting about the issues concerning India's security strategy. (ANI)

Congress' demands debate on India's security challenges post Pahalgam attack in Monsoon Session

New Delhi [India], June 11 (ANI): Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has asked a series of questions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India's global outreach on Operation Sindoor, discussion on India's security challenges post Pahalgam attack during Monsoon Session, efforts made to nab the terrorists of Pahalgam attack and more. His remarks came after Prime Minister Modi himself met with the members of the seven Parliamentary delegations that had been sent to multiple key partner countries. The Congress asked PM Modi about the possibility of chairing an all-party meeting about the issues concerning India's security strategy. In a social media post on X, Ramesh said, 'Now that the PM has himself met with the members of the seven Parliamentary delegations that had been sent to 32 countries, will he at least now - 1. Chair a meeting or a set of meetings of LEADERS of all political parties and take them into confidence on India's future strategy vis-a-vis both China and Pakistan and the strategic implications of the CDS's revelations in Singapore?' Ramesh further asked if there is a possibility of a full-fledged discussion on India's foreign policy and security challenges in the upcoming monsoon session. The opposition parties, including Congress, had been demanding that the government convene a special session of Parliament on Operation Sindoor. The monsoon session is slated to be held from July 21 to August 12, as announced by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The social media post on the Congress leader reads, '2. Agree to have a full debate in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament on our country's post-Pahalgam security and foreign policy challenges, since the request of the INDIA parties for a special session has been most unfortunately rejected? 3. Redouble efforts to bring the Pahalgam terrorists who had reportedly been involved in three earlier terror attacks in Poonch (Dec 2023) and Gagangir and Gulmarg (2024) to justice?' Congress MP Ramesh also asked about setting up a group of experts similar to the Kargil Review Committee of July 1999 that will analyse Operation Sindoor in detail and give its recommendations on the future of warfare. 'Set up a group of experts like the Kargil Review Committee (that had been chaired by the EAM's father) of July 1999 that will analyse Operation Sindoor in detail and give its recommendations on the future of warfare (including emerging military platforms and technologies, building national capacities for strategic communications in crisis, etc.)? Will the report - after suitable redactions - be placed in Parliament like the report of the Kargil Review Committee was in Feb 2000?,' the post reads. On Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Modi hosted members of seven all-party delegations who went to several countries under Operation Sindoor outreach at his residence in New Delhi. (ANI)

Delhi Assembly to introduce gender-neutral language in rule book: Speaker

Speaker Vijender Gupta said a 100-day report card on Delhi Assembly work will be out June 6, highlighting 12 sittings and 46+ hours of debate - the longest session stretch in 25 years Nandini Singh New Delhi Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has announced plans to amend the Assembly's Rules of Procedure to reflect values of 'inclusivity, clarity, and equality', reported The Hindu. Speaking at a recent press conference, Gupta cited the consistent use of male pronouns in the existing rule book as an outdated practice. 'The process has already started. On June 5, the Rules Committee of the Assembly will meet to discuss and review the changes,' he said. He confirmed that gender-neutral terms like 'them' will replace gender-specific pronouns — a change inspired by best practices already adopted in both Houses of Parliament. These amendments are expected to be implemented in time for the upcoming Monsoon Session, scheduled for July. In addition to procedural changes, Speaker Gupta also shared that a comprehensive '100-day report card' on Assembly proceedings will be released on June 6. He revealed that over this period, the House convened for 12 sittings and held discussions for a total of 46 hours and 16 minutes — the longest single-session activity in the last 25 years. 'This reflects the seriousness and productivity with which legislative business is now being conducted,' Gupta stated. In another major announcement, the Speaker introduced the formation of two new standing committees: the Committee on Welfare of Senior Citizens and the Committee on Welfare of Transgender People. These bodies will focus on policy oversight and advocacy for often overlooked communities in the national capital.

Modi Govt Must Answer on Pahalgam Attack Security Lapse, Trump's Ceasefire Claim: Asaduddin Owaisi

/ Jun 04, 2025, 08:19PM IST AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has once again raised demand that the Modi government must answer why there were security lapses during the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. He also urged the government to come clean on US president Donald Trump's claim that he brokered the ceasefire deal between India and Pakistan on May 10 after a 3-day military standoff. Owaisi said that the Centre must be pushed to clarify on all these issues when the Parliament convenes for the Monsoon Session from July 21. Owaisi returned to India after completing tour as part of the multi-party delegation that went global to push Delhi's diplomatic outreach to garner support for anti-terror Operation Sindoor and expose Pakistan's terror links. After grabbing a lot of attention with his sharp critique of Pakistan, Pak Army and ISI over links with terrorist groups, Owaisi was hailed as one of the more prominent Opposition leaders who rose above domestic politics to put India first. #asaduddinowaisi #pahalgamattack #operationsindoor #trumpceasefire #modigovt #terrorismdebate #indiausrelations #pakistanterror #monsoonsession2025 #owaisivstrump #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews
