Field teams ensure smooth departures of pilgrims from Prince Mohammed Airport in Madinah
Saudi Gazette report MADINAH — Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah is witnessing a hectic activity with a busy schedule of flights. The airport operates 24/7 with flights leaving to various destinations around the world carrying pilgrims leaving to their home countries after completing the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Field teams exert strenuous to ensure pilgrims arrive at designated airport lounges well in advance of their departure time to avoid flight delays. This allows them to complete baggage inspection, transportation, packaging, and shipping services, as well as complete departure procedures with ease and comfort. This is done in full coordination between relevant authorities and under the supervision of the Permanent Committee for Hajj, Umrah and Visitation in the Emirate, ensuring the smooth flow of pilgrims leaving the country.

1st "Makkah Route" Flights Depart Côte d'Ivoire for Saudi Arabia
The first flight carrying beneficiaries of the 'Makkah Route' Initiative departed today from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to the Kingdom through the initiative's designated terminal at Abidjan International Airport. The flight is bound for Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in the Madinah region. The departure was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Saad bin Bakhit Al-Qathami; the Minister of Interior and Security, Vagondo Diomandé; the Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné; the Special Advisor to the President of the Republic for Religious and Social Affairs, Idrissa Koné; the President of the Higher Council of Imams, Mosques, and Islamic Affairs, Ousmane Diakité; the President of the Higher Council of Imams and Sunni Organizations and Institutions, Dr. Moussa Fadiga; and the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, General Abdallah Koulibaly. 'Makkah Route' Initiative The 'Makkah Route' Initiative aims to provide high-quality services to the pilgrims from participating countries by facilitating and completing their travel procedures at their country of origin. This includes taking biometric data, issuing Hajj visas electronically, completing passport procedures at the departure airport after verifying health requirements, and tagging and sorting luggage according to accommodation and transport arrangements in the Kingdom. Pilgrims are then transported directly by buses to their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah through dedicated routes, while partner agencies handle the delivery of their luggage. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Interior is implementing the initiative for the seventh consecutive year, in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Awqaf, the Guests of God Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports. Nigerien Pilgrims Arrive at Madinah's Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport
Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah welcomed the first group of pilgrims from the Republic of Niger arriving for the 1446 Hajj season. Entry procedures were completed smoothly and efficiently. The General Directorate of Passports announced that it has fully mobilized its resources to streamline entry processes. Passport control platforms at all ports and border crossings have been equipped with the latest technology and are staffed by trained personnel proficient in the languages spoken by pilgrims. The directorate also emphasized its complete preparedness to process the arrival of all pilgrims throughout the Hajj season via land, air, and sea entry points. Saudi Science And Engineering Team Heads To US For ISEF 2025 Competition
A Saudi science and engineering team left the Kingdom today, heading to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair 2025 (ISEF), the Saudi Press Agency reported. The event, the world's largest scientific platform for research and innovative projects for pre-university students, will take place May 10–16, with the participation of more than 1,700 students representing 70 countries. According to SPA, the Kingdom, represented by Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education, has participated annually in this fair since 2007, winning 160 awards in total — 110 grand prizes and 50 special prizes. The Saudi team includes 40 students participating in distinguished projects in promising scientific fields, selected from among the top winners of the grand prizes in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, or Ibdaa 2025. These finalists were chosen from a competitive pool of 200 students whose projects qualified for the last round of the Olympiad, which is one of 20 programs that Mawhiba offers annually for gifted students. In late 2024, the organizing body of ISEF announced an increase in the number of Saudi projects participating in the 2025 fair to 40, up from 35 in previous editions. Engineer Anas Al-Hunaihan, director of research programs and innovation development at Mawhiba, explained that three key factors contributed to this expanded participation were: 'The demonstrated excellence of Saudi projects at past international competitions, significant growth in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity registration numbers, and broader student engagement in both regional and central educational exhibitions throughout the Kingdom.' According to SPA, more than 291,000 students registered for Ibdaa 2025, submitting 23,000 projects across 22 scientific categories. These projects underwent competition and selection through various stages to advance to the Ibdaa Science and Engineering Fair, which was hosted by Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh last February. Prior to their departure, the team members completed comprehensive training regimens spanning an entire year implemented by Mawhiba, aimed at developing their scientific and research skills and preparing them to represent the Kingdom in global forums.
